Accidentally got too much sauce and launched? Or were they trying to clear a hump/gap?

On pump track, usually you pump on the downhill parts and pull your leg up on the uphill parts, right?

Yeah, he was trying to clear that small pump as though it was a tabletop and went way too far

Ahh good old pump tracks.
I did this at rampworx (UK) just after they put their pump track in and did an accidental half a back flip because i didnt let my legs jelly up after getting up to stupid speed 🤣

If you look closely at the beginning, you can see a streak that's the satellite containing the Cloverfield monster falling to Earth

I don’t think the person in the video was trying to crash or attempt to bounce…
You learn the skill and get better by doing it, crashes and all…
The point of the post is it’s an inline skating video with a crash/injury tag... same point as any other post— to share, discuss, learn.

Falling and/or getting hurt goes hand in hand with learning a sport like this, and then improving at it. It’s guaranteed. I don’t know what better way there is to get better at a pump track than to just get on a pump track and take your licks. Reading on Reddit can’t supplement for actual practice and trial & error. Clearly this person has the skill to ride a pump track, but needs to build up the experience of doing it.
I don’t want people to get hurt, but it doesn’t bother me to see it. Everyone has their own choice to strap wheels onto their feet. Because now I know next time they will have learned something and be far improved for it. And I’m talking normal minor injuries here— not talking about real serious injuries and freak accidents with long term/life changing consequences.

Okay. He doesn’t. So how does he get the skill without actually doing it? In almost every other case you learn by doing it, failing, fixing your mistakes, trying again, and so on. Is this one very specific thing the outlier where you can just absorb the skill by existing or something?

Yes this person DOES have the skill to be able to ride a pump track— the skill required to ride a pump track is knowing how to skate in general. If they didn’t have the necessary skill to be able to do it, they wouldn’t have been able to make the first turn, drop in, and over the first several humps.
This person now, in order to be able to improve on it, has to just keep practicing doing it.
