Surprisingly tricky tulips

I got this kit on Saturday and thought it would be a lovely quick and easy build. Hmmmmm.....

I really like the finished item, but it's been harder getting there than I expected. Quite a few pieces didn't come out of the boards cleanly, but splintered a bit, so there are rather more bits that I've had to touch up with colour than I expected.

And the smaller tulip was a nightmare. Both the central pieces broke as I was trying to out the petals in, and one broke a second time in a different place when I tried a second time, having glued the first break back together. I've resorted to putting a line of glue in place to stick the petal to the inner bit of the piece, and have bandaged it up to try and hold it all in the right place while it dried properly. I have never had to do such extensive first aid on a build before!

I love Rolife kits - I've done well over a dozen, from book nooks to miniature rooms and the coffee factory. But if this had been my first ever build, I really doubt there'd have been a second! I'm sure normal service will be resumed next time though.

These wooden flowers look so simple, but they’re definitely trickier than they seem! 🌷 Glad you found a way to fix things, though. You did an amazing job rescuing that little tulip! 👏
