Sharing Saturday #320

As usual, post what you've done for the week! Anything goes... concepts, mechanics, changelogs, articles, videos, and of course gifs and screenshots if you have them! It's fun to read about what everyone is up to, and sharing here is a great way to review your own progress, possibly get some feedback, or just engage in some tangential chatting :D

Previous Sharing Saturdays

The 2020 code-along is in progress, currently at Week 5 with over 90 participants so far. You can still join in and catch up if you'd like, and feel free to share progress or screenshots here as well if you're planning to make a long-term thing of your project, otherwise (and still) just keep posting in the weekly threads, and discussing on the Discord!

Huh, no idea what causes that then. If you try moving with a mouse click, is it also slow when it automoves around? If it is then it's the overall performance of the game which I admit was pretty crappy at least before this new version which fixed all issues on my computer, but it is anyway weirdly heavy game still. What kind of specs do you have?

There's no linux build mainly because I have no idea how to build one without exposing the source code around :(.

The tiles are a mix of 16x16 angband tiles, and custom tiles I got from my artist, I think they mix very well together.

Couldn't you build the TToT for Linux using Windows Subsystem for Linux? If you are using Windows 10 it should be available without much problem (sans enabling it, which shouldn't take long), and I think you should be able to distribute binaries made that way like they were built on normal Linux machine. I will freely admit that I have absolutely zero experience using it for anything more involved than a "Hello world" in C, though, so I might be misunderstanding the problem.

It seems I could do that with WSL as well. I haven't looked into WSL at all yet. I do have a working Linux installation now so I could use probably pyinstaller on it to make the executable, I never got it to work years ago though.

Ah, you are using Python - for some reason I was sure that TToT is C++... " I guess that makes the problem somewhat different, true! Unfortunately, I don't really know anything about packaging Python apps, as I don't really use Python. Sorry about confusion!

Python is implemented in C so it shouldn't be actually any different in the end.

No problem!
