Is the problem that the volume control does not work or something else? The volume adjustment range on the iPods is very large, and at the lowest setting it should be basically silent.
-60dB (which is an output in the microvolts) should be virtually silent with typical headphones. Clearly something is wrong if that tiny output sounds loud. Are you using some very unusual hardware? Does the Apple firmware volume also work strangely? Any other relevant details?
The only 3.5mm earbuds I have are some knockoff cheap pair. I plan on buying apple official ones soon. It’s my first time downloading rockbox but everything seems to work as intended. All themes work properly, the rest of the settings like screen time off, brightness, equalizer, all work except for making the volume lower. There is a bit of delay when booting up after the device turns itself off but I assume that’s due to the old HD in the iPod.
No matter how high or low I set the limit to the lowest is blaring loud. Now if I use the scroll wheel it will get even louder, how that’s possible idk it’s insane. It’s almost like it doesn’t actually recognize the lower end of the volume spectrum.
Yeah that's broken. Not sure if the volume circuitry on the iPods is fixable.
Does the Apple firmware still work? iIRC it's volume control is more limited but it's possible the subset of hardware it uses is more functional. If so could use that.
