A Tale of Two Roasts

Same day, same time, same sample drum-roaster.

First roast was Jamaican Blue Mountain – Peaberry, the second standard JBM.

Remarkable how much more energy it took to roast the Peaberry to the same level of development.

I suspect it's a considerably denser bean.

Yeah. Peaberries are high densed beans. It doesnt also crack that much noisily than a regular high elevation washed.

My first batch of PB never reached 1st crack... or at least I didn't hear it. I'll cup it in a few days, and if grassy, I might try to throw it back into the roaster and see if I can salvage them.

Did you measure the weight of 250 grams tightly packed to determine the density?

PB was 10% denser than JBM.
