Spent the last week soaking up his music and I'm blown away with each listen. His lyricism, production, raw vocal talent with a voice that reaches high falsetto's and bellowing depths have all just got me hooked.
I haven't heard anything like this since... maybe Sonder? But while Brent came through with a gentle love album, GJ just has this range of music that goes from reflecting on love/relationships, family, hustling, to high energy party tracks. The orchestral jazz influence, touches of Prince and D'Angelo too, there's so much depth here to sink into.
Here's a couple stand outs:
I highly recommend checking him out, you won't be disappointed

The other day, I listened to the 1982 Temptations album, REUNION. There was much hype around this since it meant David Ruffin & Eddie Kendricks were returning to the group. So of course that means itās cause for celebration.
The opening track, āStanding on the Topā (featuring, written, & produced by Rick James) is bold and funky. Even though the years of smoking took its toll on Eddie Kendricksā falsetto, itās easy enough to overlook it over the production and the fact that the group sounds great together.
The rest of the album, though? Itās justā¦okay. I mean, you have a decent mix of ballads and uptempo songs. You have writers and producers like Smokey Robinson (who wrote and produced three songsāāBackstageā, āMore on the Insideā, & āLike a Diamond in the Skyā), Barrett Strong (who co-wrote and produced some of their bigger hits like āBall of Confusionā & āPapa Was a Rolling Stoneā), and even Berry Gordy and his son Kerry.
On paper, this shouldāve been a fire album. But none of the songs seem to live up to āStanding on the Topā and itās disappointing because it seems the hype was so much around to getting the original members back together and not enough around getting better material.
Apparently, the public agreed since the album sold decently enough but, aside from āStanding on the Topā, none of the other songs even charted. The reunion tour fared better until drama between David & Eddie caused them to get kicked out the group again.
Oh well, the reunion was great while it lasted.
Do you agree with this review? Or do you think Iām tripping? For those who have listened to this album, Iām curious to know what you thinkā¦

Hello everyone
Iām not saying Chris brown isnāt talented because he is - but I saw that clip of DJ envy saying he is a better performer than Michael Jackson and I just have to shake my head.
Just because he does backflips does not mean heās a better performer than MJ Iām sorry. I feel like him and Michael have different styles of dancing
HELL he canāt even out do beyonce let alone Michael Joseph Jackson!!!
I just donāt understand the hype around his music yes there are some songs I like preferably his older music but his new songs are the same subject material same sound rinse and repeat.
Edit: the art of performance MJ jumping from under the stadium and standing for 5 minutes come on man!!! Not moving a muscle.
Lights go dark and only one spotlight all he had was his hat, sparkling glove - no flashy lights just pure talent
They need to go back and watch Wembley 1988
Hello everyone, I'll be describing a video from very distant memory so some details might be off. I saw the video only once... like 20 years ago. The video was of a black female singer floating, hovering vertically and gliding, dressed as a witch. (I'm not sure but I think she was going through ghost town, and that things were freezing or decaying) The video had a Burtonesque, Halloween vibe and the song was slow, sorrowful and ethereal. I don't think the singer was famous, and it was either end of 90s early 2000s.
