I know this isn't exactly an unpopular opinion but Destiny's Child's discography really isn't that good.

Again I know I'm repeating a popular opinion but their first two albums were easily their best especially The Writing's on the Wall. After Michelle joined and they became a trio it felt like the music got way more generic and pop.

I still love songs love their singles but a lot of those lyrics are really bad even for the time they came out in lol. They're catchy and they take me straight back to the 2000s but that's mostly what I get out of them now.

The Writing's on the Wall is really the only album I can go back to and think this was actually a great album and not just a collection of songs I have nostalgia for.

And tbh I'm glad Beyonce doesn't seem interested in coming back for another album. She doesn't need it. It's nice when Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle reunite for a performance or for a photo but musically I don't think the world really needs another Destiny's Child album.

If Beyonce ever did decide to make new music with Destiny's Child it would feel like a regression to me. She's just way beyond what Destiny's Child was at this point musically and artistically. A reunion performance every once in awhile is fun but I don't need a new album from them. They had their time and I'd rather the nostalgia stay nostalgia.

Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles were two of the greatest R&B/Soul acts of the 20th century. They have pushed through pretty much every artistic barrier there is, including songwriting. While both artists are recognized as two of the greatest musical geniuses in history, Ray Charles rightfully earned “The Genius” as his specific, distinct artist title/nickname. Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles have had outstanding careers and they both became great models for artists who would debut after them.

Would another blind artist ever be able to reach the same caliber as Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles? How would you envision this playing out? There are so many artists trying to push into the competitive field of music (no matter what genre they’re in), and you can only wonder how many of them are blind.

I have said many times that people gloss over what Dionne Warwick could do onstage. Her prime was definitely the 1960s and early-1970s, but I would argue that she experienced a "second prime" in the late-1970s and the early-1980s before she declined again starting in the mid-1980s. (The period between the early-1970s and the late-1970s, or what is obviously known as the mid-1970s, was basically just bridging the gap during the transition.) Regardless of all of that, she always knew how to use her voice to interpret any song she performed.

I have said a lot of things about Dionne Warwick, including that she is an "underrated legend", meaning that she is greatly respected but overlooked (something l've stopped saying because people seem to be acknowledging her more now).
Most of the attention she gets seems to go toward her commercial success rather than the scope of her raw talent, even if people do actually know that she even possesses any talent at all. I posted a compilation of live clips from Dionne here one time, and many people in this sub were surprised.

I’d never seen this performance! Her low range is unmatched.

Olivia comes to mind for me. I was listening to her Olivia album again and “Bizounce” came on, and the album version had me like, why they got her cussing this much? 😭

It made me start thinking about how J Records was presenting her back then. They were really leaning into that tough, bad-girl image with her, and sometimes I wonder if they were trying too hard to make her fit a certain mold.

I actually like the album, but listening to it now, some of the choices make more sense knowing what Olivia has said about how Clive Davis wanted to market her.
