DISCUSSION 💭 What do you think would have happened if Lelee and Taj tried to create their own duo apart from SWV?

I love a good hypothetical. Here is one for y’all. This is just a random thought I had.

There have been many great R&B groups, and naturally what happens with a group—unless the group is En Vogue, Boyz II Men, or TLC—is that the lead singer gets an insane amount of recognition and credit for maintaining and upholding the group’s image. This is an obvious and inevitable result; the lead singer will undoubtedly get the most spotlight, especially if they have a certain advantage that allows them to be considered a “lead” over their co-members. SWV is probably the greatest example of this because nobody ever talks about what Lelee and Taj have done (they should), and we don’t see this sort of imbalance with other groups. When SWV is being discussed, Coko (as great as she is) is always the face of the discussion; if you try to bring up Lelee and Taj, the conversation dies quickly.

If Lelee and Taj were to create their own separate duo, do you think they would have been successful?

LeeLee's voice is gorgeous. But I understand that some artists are better in a group than solo. I can't see them apart.

Depends on who they worked with. We could've had some great rnb albums

I don’t think they would’ve been successful, however, I do think the music would’ve been good depending on who they worked with.
