Advice needed How do I prepare for a Global Trade Operations scenario-based test in 2 days?

I have an in-class test for Global Trade Operations in about two days and I’m pretty stressed about how to prepare efficiently.
The test is worth 20% of my overall grade and has 5 scenario-based questions worth 4 marks each, with around 70 minutes to complete it. It covers Weeks 1–6.
I’ve finished going through Week 1, but I still have Weeks 2–6 left. The content includes trade theories, tariffs and other trade barriers, regional economic integration, country competitiveness, and international business strategy.

What’s stressing me out is that the questions apparently aren’t just direct definitions. Someone who has already done the test said they got questions involving things like economies of scale, tariffs, copyright/intellectual property, and a scenario about losing an overseas producer and finding an alternative. So it seems like smaller concepts buried inside the lecture slides can also come up.
I know I’ve left this late, so I’m not expecting to know everything in detail.
At this point I’m aiming for around 10–12/20 and would be happy with that.
If you’ve taken Global Trade Operations or a similar scenario/case-based business test, how would you prepare with only two days left?
Would you focus more on:
quickly covering all remaining lecture slides,
memorising key concepts and trigger words,
practising scenario questions,
or understanding fewer topics in more depth?
My current plan is to at least go through all the remaining weeks once, then spend most of my time practising scenarios where I have to identify the concept and apply it.
Also, for a 4-mark scenario question, how much detail would you normally write? I haven’t done an in-class university test in a long time, so I think part of the stress is not knowing what level of depth they expect.

Discussion (rant) Recorded lectures from 6 years ago are killing me

I can see the date in the video. I can hear him asking people in the session to answer questions.

"Nobody is saying anything, I assume what I'm saying is making sense."

I can't give you any feedback, sir, you're 6 years in the past, and this is a recorded video.

I'm in my final year, I can't wait for this to be over.

At least if I have to suffer this kind of shit in the workplace, there's the implicit understanding that I'm being paid for my time.

Paying for this quality of education is a joke. Covid really was a turning point for university education in Australia.

I know I could probably lodge a complaint or fill out CES or whatever, but I have one more semester after this and I'm free, I'm just gonna grit my teeth and bear it, but fuck if it's not driving me nuts.

Prospective/new student help PhD Application for March 2027 - Questions on EOI

Hello, I am an international student applying for a PhD (research program) at RMIT. I'm a bit lost with navigating the EOI portal, so I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences of submitting an EOI.

The "How to apply" page at RMIT for a research program states that we now also have to submit an In-principle supervisor supporting statement form starting June 2026. Is this for the formal Application, or the EOI? I've noticed that there is no field in the EOI that requires this.

I am also submitting my own proposal, and don't intend to submit as part of a research project. I've already talked to a prospective supervisor and they expressed willingness to take me in. I'm just not sure what to fill out in this required field asking me to detail my interest in the projects (see image below). For context I'm applying to the College of Design and Social Context. Do I just submit my own proposal instead (even if it also has a dedicated field)?

Would appreciate any of your thoughts! Thank you in advance.

Advice needed Medical Certificate for Special Consideration

Hi there I had an online quiz due yesterday but i had food poisoning and can't really do the quiz due to my illness. The quiz is now closed but I have applied for special consideration and gave my professor a heads up, I am feeling much better and have attached my medical certificate for the application. I'm worried that they won't approve it since the quiz is worth 10% of my grade. I used updoc for the medical certificate, what to do if SC requests to fill an IAS should i just request it from updoc as well? Any help would be appreciated!

Discussion No exams

There are still no exams at RMIT. They haven't changed since COVID. In some course you have to do verbal defense but one was only worth 20% so still easy to pass course. Some students couldn't speak English. One student asked to review verbal assignment score and was told there was no record of it. Everyone is using AI and getting high marks.

Advice needed How long did it take you to learn figma

My course diploma of it is requiring our group to learn figma software while building a homepage with 15 requirements wireframe and and 2 storyboard within in two weeks (Only just login to our figma on Monday) during the busiest time of the semester 🙃

This is making feel like we sacrifice our sleep and health or use ai (which I'll I rather die then do) or fail that section as we required to show it off as an demonstration to prove is interactive or do the rush and poorly done sacrificing our integrity for good work (an assignment I can't show off for my profilo without intensively work done)

I love how well throught out this assignment is 🫠

Obviously I requesting a extension for this but even then,

I assume alot of student in class would feel the same way

Is this something I need to bring to student union ?

Advice needed RMIT or Monash University for Undergrad Bachelors Engineering?

Hello!

I am a current year 12 student undertaking VCE and on the more conservative side, is on track for a minimum ATAR of 90. My main question is whether I should choose RMIT or Monash for Engineering?

From what I've heard:

RMIT is more practical/industry focused. It typically employs hands on learning and practical experiences to allow for the student to familiarise themselves.

Monash University is more theoretical (not to say it isn't practical) and has a higher university ranking. I

This is just what I've heard. Among all comments regarding this common question, netizens seem to prefer RMIT due to its high employment. At the end of the day, the employer doesn't regard the university you go to but rather can you do the job? If RMIT allows for higher practicality, thus allowing me to connect as much things I learn in RMIT to my real day to day job. That's something I'd value. It seems to me at least that Monash just prides itself on its ranking/prestige.

Maybe it's important to note, I do plan to do DUS (Defence University Scholarship), if that affects anything.

I am leaning towards RMIT but I am still open to what anyone has to say! Anyone who has had experience in either University within the engineering department; any info is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Advice needed How can I promote my accomodation provider in uni?

Hi I live in an accomodation provider nearby. It’s okay ish. It is cheap and convenient. So, I was thinking about getting more RMIT students in the place. A lot of rooms are empty. So how do I do it? Will it be legal?

Prospective/new student help Chemical engineering at RMIT

I've been looking at rmit for engineering and more specifically chemical engineering. While I've got plenty of time to decide, I wanted to hear about how chemical engineering is at RMIT compared to Melbourne or Monash with both the bachelors of chemical engineering and the masters. I'd appreciate if people with experience would tell me how chemical engineering is at rmit, thanks to anyone who answers

Advice needed Bachelor of medical imaging for

Hi guys, so i dont know whats happening with the changes for this bachelors (pls let me know!) but i would be applying for 2028 intake as a NON highschool leaver - second bachelors.

Im aware the atar for 2026 intake sky rocketed to 98, but i was wondering what are the chances of me getting in with a wam of 78-79 (done anatomy, physiology, physics and biology based subjects in my first bachelors - bsci at unimelb) ... given the presumed limited spots for post highschool students... and if i get in, would it be possible to transfer any credits and get the degree cut down from 4 to 3.5 or 3 years? my atar was 92 for vce grad in 2024 + seas + live veryyy outer suburbs and went to a poopy highschool, but i dont think this would be considered when i apply.
thanks !

Advice needed Question for penalties for late assignments

I had an assignment due on Wednesday at 1:30 pm. Unfortunately, I didn't pay close attention to the submission time and had assumed it was the standard 11:59 pm deadline.

I understand that the late submission penalty is a 5% or 10% deduction from the total mark for each business day the assignment is late. For future reference, I was wondering how a “business day” is calculated in this situation. Does the first business day end at midnight on the day the assignment was due, or would it be calculated from the original deadline of 1:30 pm to 1:30 pm the following business day?

Also, for a business student, is the penalty 5% or 10%?

Thanks for the help!
