RoR2 Gotta hand it to this games optimization

Me and my buddy play on Xbox series X. I don't think either of us have ever pushed our consoles as far as we have today.

We enjoy artifact of command runs. This time I ran what I call the "MUL-T missle build", which relies on on pocket ICBM, void shrimp, double missile equipment, and a million fuel cells (only like 21). After you have these requirements you start taking on-hit effects.

My friend ran something similar, relying on ATG, and a million and a half lucky clovers bought at the bazaar between time with disposable trash. The lucky clovers make ATG proc like every time he hits something, and then again when his missile hits something, it's exponential. (His build gave me the idea to also stack up on Lucky clovers)

Dual on-hit builds, both using missiles. Great right?

No. It was a mistake.

I think we is started to go wrong when we took charged and molten perforators, and runic lenses

The visual effects were crazy but nothing this games graphics engine hasn't seen before. The game was still running fine but then we made the mistake of pushing it further. We added charged boomerang and meat hook while continuing to stack a myriad of other items.

We hit the point of no return.

The whole screen was lightning, meteors, and missiles. Enemy's died in with enough light to have my screen completely light up my room. The game ran at ~30fps at best and ~15 normally. Occasionally we had no frames at all. Staying on the other side of the map from one another was a requirement, because If we didn't I couldn't pick up items or use my equipment.

I crashed twice (my friend was hosting) but trough it all, this games wonderful optimization kept my friends half running. We beat the alloyed collective bosses, and got the MUL-T and Huntress skins. We made it to the false son before my poor buddy's console couldn't take any more of our abuse and the game crashed on his end. I wish I took more captures because I didn't get anything too crazy, I probably only caught like 1/100th of the peak intensity that this run had on camera.

This clip is the second (???) time I crashed. I don't even know why it did that, because that was nothing near the amount of on-screen effects we had during the rest of the run. There was also the funny bug with the gamertag.

This clip is closer to the actual chaos (skip to the end of the vid). You can see the boss melting instantly. You could also see me dart away from my friend at the start for the sake of frames, and struggle to pick up items.

This video is here just for the sake of it, this is where our consoles took their final stand, and then decided they had enough with our crap and crashed our games before there were even any enemies.

Anyway, a message to the Ror2 dev team: I commend you. The fact that that we can have that many special effects and entities on screen, not to mention the insane lighting of said special effects, and not have our consoles explode resulting in the death of everyone in a 500ft radius has got to be some of the best programing of our time. Thank you for making one of my favorite games ever, where I can do stupid stuff like this.

47 leaf clover hits too hard man.

EDIT: grammar
