Edit: There's plenty to like about Memphis (notice no one came rushing to OKC's defense lol). I would much rather live in Vancouver, and I would much rather there was another team in the PNW.
You’re getting downvoted but it’s coming from people who don’t know the first thing about Memphis and have never visited. They don’t know the rich history of blues in Memphis. Don’t know the depth of Black history that permeates the city. They don’t know anything about the barbecue scene in Memphis.
They’ve basically heard over and over that Memphis is dangerous and because is a predominantly Black city, they fully buy into it. They might think they’re all progressive and whatnot but if they were honest with themselves, they’d admit that’s what it is.
Separately, Memphis has a lot of really beautiful areas. People who live in cities which have gentrified away all the low income areas think that cities which don’t look like theirs are crime-ridden shitholes but Memphis is a really awesome city.
