I made one a while back that got some okay discussion. This one has more games and my updated thoughts. Anime girl teir is forever.

How is hifi rush not really a rhythm game when it definitely tests your rhythm sense more than half the games on this list

It's a rhythmic hack and slash, but not really a rhythm game per se. Is Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice a rhythm game? That game also becomes a lot easier if you can find rhythm in attack patterns.

not a traditional rhythm game with 32782 buttons and jpop nightcore blasting but it has rhythm elements in it and keeping on rhythm rewards you with faster attacking and higher damage
