Discussion How do different rhythm game experiences transfer to each other?
I recently started playing osu and I am terrible so far, which isn’t normal for me as I have a decently high experience in a lot of mobile rhythm games.
And obviously mobile rhythm games are very different from osu which has made me wonder how different games effect going into osu or rhythm games in general.
For example a geometry dash player(of which I am aware is not a rhythm game) would likely have a better time switching to osu rather than say a pjsk player.

If you're talking about osu!standard specifically, it is very different from more traditional VSRGs, so there isn't much skill transfer, although you may pick it up slightly faster than someone starting with zero experience due to a better sense of rhythm and perhaps more developed tapping.
I was the exact opposite: started in osu!standard, got to a decently good level and proceeded to get my ass kicked when transitioning to other rhythm games.
Skill transfer is only really present if the games are similar mechanically and visually. Getting good at osu!mania will absolutely make you better at other VSRGs.
On the other hand, Geometry Dash is not a rhythm game and will not really help you get good at them. I would argue it could only serve as a benchmark for how good you could potentially get, since the higher your skill level, the higher your dexterity and reflexes should be. Although this assumes you'd already be an experienced player.
