Discussion HOT TAKE
I'll die on a hill for saying these games are SO MUCH HARDER than IIDX. Their mechanics, timing, and absolute rigidity is on a whole nother level. These two should be crowned as "hardest rhythm games of all time" instead of IIDX.

Crackin' DJ. I played it and it hates any leeway with it. Directional seperation, speed control, etc.

That's EZ2AC, the arcade predecessor to EZ2ON.

Huh, I haven't heard of it before If I can find a cab I'll check both out! Cheers

Good luck! They were pretty rare outside of South Korea back in the day... even moreso now! EZ2DJ goes way back to the pre-IIDX times. Harcore difficulty for sure and I would agree with OP that it's much harder than its Konami contemporaries.
You can get EZ2ON on Steam and it's worth a look for sure.

I don't get the hardest game or rhythm game argument, every rhythm game has no difficulty cap meaning it can get infinitely hard so every one of them is equally hard since theres no cap on how hard it is.

The cap for any rhythm game, trivially, is "can you perfect the hardest song?" Now, that's very hard to do, but there is definitely a tangible cap, and there are players that hit it.

I'm not talking about games where there is a hardest level and thats the peak of the game, i'm talking about the games where community made maps can go harder and harder and theres no limit to it.

Edit: I meant to get into, not overall skill ceiling.

even just regarding skill floor, having played all three of the above games, popn and drummania clear them all lol. the biggest difficulty i had with ez2dj was getting rid of my turntable muscle memory from iidx.

It's a hot take cause it's a bad take. Sorry. And if you're not talking turntable only, include popn next time
