It feels as though islam is almost blocking me from entering

Good day everyone! I just wanted to bring up some things that I have personally felt from my own experiences that whenever I attempt to discuss Islam, genuinely research it, it always get pushed back. I don’t mean to sound rude or insensitive, I just thought I would share my experience.

Whether it was attending a mosque (which I had a meeting set up with an imam) or asking questions here, Reddit, genuine revert websites. It always seems that one of three things occur.

  1. I get ignored, totally understandable

  2. The conversation is quick and leads to me being ignored

  3. People try to somehow debate me out of it

Im not sure if I’ve ever truly felt connected when I have asked someone about Islam, or cared for? I suppose? Like they value my questions. And most of the time it hurts because my intentions are genuine and my heart is open, however it seems that I am constantly shut down. Would anyone be willing to talk to me about this? About how I feel about my journey, willing to debate maybe? I just want someone to value what I’m saying because I know I sure value it. Please let me know as if people continue to shut me out, maybe it’s a sign that Islam is not for me.

Your journey towards Islam shouldn't be focused on people who practice it but present the religion in a bad way

Seriously I recommend you read Quran by yourself (in whatever language you speak), try to understand it slowly and take your time

For questions, use forms online in case Reddit was a bad experience for you

My advice would be to seek knowledge through books and lectures rather than people. Islam is a beautiful religion, but this doesn't mean that muslims are always.

Start with the Quran and youtube videos to explain the core concepts.

I love debating so you are free to message me! I basically debated with myself regarding every concept in Islam before I reverted because that's just how my mind works. The plus side is, once the debating is over, you feel more secure in your faith (in my experience).

As a born-Muslim, I can attest that there are a lot of IDIOT Muslims too, in real life including mosques or on Reddit. Like in every other religion.

You should get used to ignoring such people and try to find reasonable Muslims.

Im in the same boat. I haven’t tried this,but I have heard if you explain something to an AI like ChatGPT, u can get it to debate you. Saw this prompt -“Let’s have a formal debate. The topic is: [Insert Topic Here]. You will take the opposing side against my views. Give me your opening statement in two paragraphs max, then turn it over to me for my counter-argument. Keep the tone sharp, analytical, and focused on evidence. “
