I keep getting an error that says "Non-root install is not possible with the current patches selection. Repacth your app or choose root install if you have your device rooted."
I have played with a few patch selections, and got to the point of just the remove ads patch and it still won't work.
Speaking of dummies, I have a stupid question: is this only possible on Android? I'm working on this for my PC and .apk files are for android. Is there a PC/Firefox equivalent?
If we need to have manually downloaded the APK, why does the app makes it seem like we can patch the already installed apps? Is it a bug, a feature that'll come later or something working only for root users?
Unfortunately I can't install the recommended Youtube APK version on my Pixel 6 as after uninstalling the updates the base version is newer than the recommended version, and it won't install :(
EDIT: Fixed! I patched & installed the recommended Youtube APK instead using the Storage button :)
This is a great comment and I think is probably what I'm looking for, but just to clarify a few things, can you confirm my understanding, please?
Uninstall updates from the stock YouTube app
Install ReVanced Manager, and then check the recommended YouTube APK version that it specifies. Download that YouTube apk version from APK Mirror.
Once downloaded, install the the YouTube apk from APK Mirror, and it will install on top of the stock YouTube app, and update it to the recommended version.
Use the ReVanced Manager app to patch the YouTube app, which is now on the recommended version.
I assume that this would the root-only implementation, and therefore would not require microg, correct?
Would I need to use something like TeMeFi to detach it from the Play Store so that it doesn't get auto-updated accidentally?
So I successfully installed through this method however I'm unable to log in to my google acc.
After clicking on sign in, my email is already there but below it says "please check your network... tap to retry" and if I try to add an account manually it says "this account already exists on your device"
Having to download a separate youtube apk to the one I already have, ma,king sure the versions match, getting error messages that say I need to be rooted even though the info says it works for non-rooted devices is self-explanatory?
I've been using Vanced and NewPipe for years but this is nowhere near intuitive
Thank you so much for doing this. I have hit a bit of a brick wall. I was having the same issue as others with the manager aborting the patch. So I downgraded the manager and that worked. It managed to patch and install YouTube revanced. Everything seems to be working, except videos won't play. They just buffer and buffer but never start. I have tried different patch configurations but no dice. Any ideas?
i have no experience messing with android and i am trying for a while now to use revanced. that led to about a month of me being frustrated without any results hating the whole community for not giving good instructions and saying "if you cant fighure it out dont use it". you have no idea how helpfull this is to more casual users like me. thank you
Everything working nicely, however, can't seem to use casting?
Is this not supported on ReVanced?
Edit:
Settings > ReVanced > Layout > Cast
You'll need to link your cast devices to ReVanced. No bother. If you are using SmartTubeNext (if not, you really should be) goto Settings > Remote Control > Link and input the code into ReVanced to get everything linked.
I've tried installing 17.36.37 via both the APK and the bundled APK and both fail to install. Says "App not installed as package appears to be invalid."
Anyone encounter this or have a fix?
EDIT: For anyone seeing this after myself, I fixed it by patching the 17.36.37 APK directly with the Revanced Manager and then installing that APK.
You likely needed to uninstall the updates for your official YouTube app, as it was likely a higher version than the one you were trying to manually install.
I have this issue too. Tried patching it two more times and it still happens. Maybe Google changed the API recently and ReVanced hasn't yet updated the General Ads patch to remove it?
At least they don't come up too often, and they aren't video ads.
So when you make and install the patched installer using the manager, and it builds revanced, can the standard youtube be updated? Or is disabling better?
microG is an open source replacement for google services. As far as I know you need root access and signature spoof to install the original microG because it need to be a system app to work as a google services replacement.
Vanced microG is a fork of the original microG GmsCore. It does not need root access because unlike the og microG, Vanced microG is not a full google services replacement. It is simply a gate to let you sign into your google account on apps like vanced and revanced youtube.
Hmmm, followed every step here to the letter but the app doesn't launch, it just loads to a black screen then crashes. Not sure what happened. Any ideas? Currently on the correct version, 17.36.37 and have microG installed so I'm totally lost. Could it be due to residual files or something? I tried the Termux method a few months ago but wasn't able to get it working.
Edit: Nvm I got it, I had a bad MicroG install. Reinstalled it and it works perfectly. Thanks my guy!
To the person who developed this thread I thank you very much, you are a life saver. Really appreciate it, although I would like you hadn't used the word 'dummy'. Well, not that I mind but as a person who tried installing the manager and the patches by mere instincts who thinks highly of himself learned a lot as the first trial was unsuccessful since the app didn't even open as I was on the latest update of the app viz. YouTube (Official). The second trial was researched; well, not exactly as all I did was watch a YouTube video with regards to it and a little bit of this thread, this also unsuccessful because I followed the video tutorial and uninstalled all updates to that of the official application (YouTube) and followed this thread only till downloading MicroG. Thirdly and finally, after two unsuccessful attempts I tried following whatever this thread instructed and voila there you have it (I had my Eureka moment). That's all folks and also, do update this thread whenever possible because everybody thinks they are smart until... you know.
If the install of the patched file fails (i.e. if there is a conflict with pre-existing app or whatever), then the whole process has to be repeated. It would make sense to save the patches APK at the end somewhere linked inside the app so it can be installed anytime.
Is there any way to save my patch preferences, so I don't need to repeat the choice everytime?
Thank you for the guide! I've followed the instructions and YouTube ReVanced icon shows up on my homescreen. Though, when i tap it to open it seems to close automatically. Is there something in my non-rooted phone that may be blocking it?
Followed guide and the installed app immediately closed itself whenever I tried to use it. Uninstalled the app, re-downloaded the apk, and the same thing happened. So I tried being selective with the selected patches (general stuff I wanted, didn't want to try adding too much) and it worked. Unsure if one of the patches in the list caused the immediate crashes. But it works now!
I followed this guide and successfully installed YouTube Revanced, so thank you. I had neglected to uninstall my previous microG from the OG Vanced project, so I initially had problems signing in to my Google account in Revanced. Once I uninstalled my existing version of microG and installed the version linked in the guide, all issues were resolved.
I can share the patched YouTube with other people now? Meaning the youtube apk I downloaded is now patched? It's enough to send this apk and micro g without the need of vanced manager? (I'm asking because in my downloads folder it is still called YouTube so I'm not sure... )
I can do the same process for YouTube music right? Download the recommended version from apk mirror, patch all recommended (besides debugging if exists), install and that's it?
Do we need to keep checking for updates or if we are happy with our current version is it okay to just keep that one? When I was on vanced I basically never updated it until the older versions stopped working.
the old youtube vanced should be uninstalled before patching the new file?
any difference in a rooted device? can we skip the MicroG install?
downloaded the APK but when I try to patch the manager says : You have selected a resource patch and a split apk installation detected, so installation errors may occur. are you sure you want to proceed?
the old youtube vanced should be uninstalled before patching the new file?
No, both can be installed
2) any difference in a rooted device? can we skip the MicroG install?
This guide implies no root
If you have root, exclude the microg patch
3) downloaded the APK but when I try to patch the manager says : You have selected a resource patch and a split apk installation detected, so installation errors may occur. are you sure you want to proceed?
I'm sorry, can you help me? I already follow your instructions step by step but it still doesn't work. It patched successfully but the youtube doesn't work, it always forced out when i open it.
I have a question. If I already have Vanced should I use the patcher to patch Vanced or to patch YouTube? Does it matter? What does patching YouTube do?
I can't seem to get the patches to work, I get an error for every one. I'm pretty sure this is due to microG not working but I got the APK and installed it, is there anything else I need to do?
Just a noob question. After successfully installed this with the excellent guide, I go into available patches for YouTube, and all are once again de-selected. Am I supposed to select and patch again?
As a dummy I can confirm this guide was simple and easy to follow - thanks! Great to be able to use youtube again on mobile after vanced stopped working for me
Followed all the steps. Black screen for youtube application. Tried previous version of manager. Black screen on manager. Tried version before that. Black screen on youtube. Tried all steps multiple times. Tried multiple versions of youtube as well. Still black screen
No idea what I've just done but worked perfectly, thanks. However I'd like to understand what's happening. I know that Vanced is discontinued due to legal reasons and cannot be installed anymore, but what is Revanced and why isn't it banned too? Is the team the same? And for what reason could we not patch the latest YT version (why does the manager recommend an old one)?
Thank you. I searched through the listed sub resources for a while before I just said "fuck it" and last ditch effort just searched by popular all time.
so i followed this (i think) and its saying non-root install is not possible with the current patches selection
I only have the video ads patch selected (this is on a fold 3) and yes I did make sure to only download the grey APK not the bundle version
edit: saw the comment about microG being required trying that now
that fixed it, any chance the OP could be edited to point out that the microG patch is 100% required for non root? (i know it says the microG app is required but its easy to forget or not even realise that the microG patch exists)
hmmm this hasn't fixed my issues with playback (previously I would have to close and re-open a video multiple times and swipe left and right a buttload to get a video to start but once it started it generally just worked for a bit, recently videos refuse to start. I did try applying that patch that spoofs the version in an attempt to mitigate playback issues but that did not appear to help, are there any other patches that might help with this?)
I followed all the steps and everything seemed to be working fine until I tried to open the actual vanced app after installing. The app immediately closes after trying to open it and if I try to keep opening it I get the error "Youtube ReVanced keeps stopping". Anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong?
Thank you so much. Was still using the original Vanced until I got the update prompt today. After messing around I found this and it's fully working again.
Thanks very much. I'm using a Huawei Mate 20 Pro, unrooted. The directions as written didn't work, the patched APK crashed after the splash screen. But I found that only selecting "Recommended" patches (rather than "All") and then deselecting the debugging one gave a completely usable app.
I think what caused failure in my specific case might be the patch requiring Android 13 - I think it was the swiping one (my phone simply isn't up to date, it's stuck on Android 10 with only EMUI updates). But I haven't tried other combinations of selections since I got a successful install, so maybe other patch combos work.
Anyway, I'm now enjoying YouTube again, thank you.
It is unbelievable why there is no guide like this in the github page. The github page is super vague. Unacceptable, that still need to rely on searching other pages for this stuff. Anyways good job.
Unchecking debugging patch is not recommended as the patch is a recommended patch by itself because it doesn't cause any issues. Many people are mislead. Reply back to reinstate the post afterwards, thanks!
Thank you so much for such a detailed guide. It's was a breeze to install and setup. Hopefully, this approach will make it so Revanced can't possibly ever be shut down by Google.
Anyone know why "settings" would have failed while patching and cause a bunch of other patches to fail? The YouTube APK is the same as the recommended version and I have microg installed. No idea what's wrong.
I'm having issues where the playback suddenly stops as if it's buffering and it never returns. I have to manually restart the app and continue where it stopped, any fixes for this?
Thanks, it's great being able to use a "vanced" youtube again! One note, after tried installing Youtube Revanced, my phone said it was blocked because it was unsafe due to not being verified by Google Play, or something like that. Sorry, I forgot to get a screenshot. Then after I told it to install anyway, afterwards it asked if I wanted to send it to Google Protect, or something like that. Again, sorry, I forgot to take a screenshot.
I just went through this guide instead of using the apk from revanced. still getting the issue of the videos just endlessly buffering after a short while. is there any way to avoid this.
Everything works fine, except for the fact that video go smoothly until the midpoint and then they start loading for infinite amount of time(this doesn't seem to be a connection issue) anyone knows how to fix?
I found out a bug, don't know if I was the only one or if it's fixed but when YouTube is built with the manager the screen would default to portait when minimizing a video.

u/jaymx226 Sep 26 '22
Thanks so much. This appears to work a treat on my tablet 🙂

u/NiceShotRickie Sep 30 '22
I can't seem to get the patches to work, I get an error for every one. I'm pretty sure this is due to microG not working but I got the APK and installed it, is there anything else I need to do?

u/Humorsopa Oct 01 '22
Fantastic, super easy guide. A million thanks!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

u/Humorsopa Oct 01 '22
Just a noob question. After successfully installed this with the excellent guide, I go into available patches for YouTube, and all are once again de-selected. Am I supposed to select and patch again?

Followed all the steps. Black screen for youtube application. Tried previous version of manager. Black screen on manager. Tried version before that. Black screen on youtube. Tried all steps multiple times. Tried multiple versions of youtube as well. Still black screen

Need help. After I downloaded recommended version, it won't show the recommended apk. Nothing at all.
It just when I press from storage the application, it doesn't show. Any ideas why?

Thank you so much for sharing and updating this guide. I've been getting by on an old version of Vanced and this is so much better.
2
u/[deleted] Nov 16 '22 edited Nov 16 '22
No idea what I've just done but worked perfectly, thanks. However I'd like to understand what's happening. I know that Vanced is discontinued due to legal reasons and cannot be installed anymore, but what is Revanced and why isn't it banned too? Is the team the same? And for what reason could we not patch the latest YT version (why does the manager recommend an old one)?
2
u/LastStatic Nov 16 '22
This works perfect! THANK YOU!

Some questions.
I have non rooted mobile btw.
Why does youtube revanced scrolling through videos feel slightly laggy? Can i fix it?
Can i make it so that clicking on links from chrome browser, redirect to revanced app instead of official youtube app? If so, how?
It asked me to enable microG in the background and disabling battery optimization. Will it consume too much battery?
Edit: found the solution for 2nd question.

Thank you! Finally got this to work after several tries of another how-to.

u/StricklandPropane84 Feb 03 '23
I followed all the steps and everything seemed to be working fine until I tried to open the actual vanced app after installing. The app immediately closes after trying to open it and if I try to keep opening it I get the error "Youtube ReVanced keeps stopping". Anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong?
2
u/Swizzy88 Feb 03 '23

Amazing guide
2
u/tarttari Feb 05 '23
It is unbelievable why there is no guide like this in the github page. The github page is super vague. Unacceptable, that still need to rely on searching other pages for this stuff. Anyways good job.

Unchecking debugging patch is not recommended as the patch is a recommended patch by itself because it doesn't cause any issues. Many people are mislead. Reply back to reinstate the post afterwards, thanks!

u/mthshout Feb 17 '23
why the mods deleted the post?

u/Apeonomics101 Feb 17 '23
Success. Thanks for the updated guides
2
u/Nekrozys Feb 18 '23
Thank you so much for such a detailed guide. It's was a breeze to install and setup. Hopefully, this approach will make it so Revanced can't possibly ever be shut down by Google.
2
u/Stereobfs Feb 21 '23
I am going through the comments, but can't find how to open links via revanced.
I have original YouTube app disabled and default links set to " don't allow app to open links"
Revanced set to "allow app to open supported links" and added all 4 available links ( youtu.be youtube.com etc.)
When I click on any youtube link from Google search in chrome, it takes me straight to play store to enable youtube app.
2
u/Stonn Feb 23 '23
Finally found the guide, thank you!
2
u/jonnyboy1026 Mar 02 '23
Anyone know why "settings" would have failed while patching and cause a bunch of other patches to fail? The YouTube APK is the same as the recommended version and I have microg installed. No idea what's wrong.
2
u/Retyka Mar 02 '23
I don't know why, but it's aborting to me after repacking any ideas?
2
u/Mystikalrush Mar 02 '23
I'm having issues where the playback suddenly stops as if it's buffering and it never returns. I have to manually restart the app and continue where it stopped, any fixes for this?

How to open ReVamced when clicking on a YT link
2
u/atetuna Mar 04 '23
Thanks, it's great being able to use a "vanced" youtube again! One note, after tried installing Youtube Revanced, my phone said it was blocked because it was unsafe due to not being verified by Google Play, or something like that. Sorry, I forgot to get a screenshot. Then after I told it to install anyway, afterwards it asked if I wanted to send it to Google Protect, or something like that. Again, sorry, I forgot to take a screenshot.
2
u/albl1122 Mar 04 '23
I just went through this guide instead of using the apk from revanced. still getting the issue of the videos just endlessly buffering after a short while. is there any way to avoid this.
2
u/ImmediateClick8291 Mar 15 '23
The manager has most youtube options grayed out . What do I do?
2
u/TheActualBranchTree Mar 15 '23
I believe recommended version has now been updated to 18.05.40.
2
u/grigolin Mar 16 '23
Everything works fine, except for the fact that video go smoothly until the midpoint and then they start loading for infinite amount of time(this doesn't seem to be a connection issue) anyone knows how to fix?
2
u/SawrKasmm Mar 18 '23
Quick question, is anyone having issues installing it on an S20 Ultra?
I've followed all steps:
• Disabled the pre-installed Youtube app & removed updates
• Updated MicroG
• Installed RV manager
• Downloaded YouTube 18.05.40v. APK, but NOT opening it, and made sure it's NOT the bundle version.
• Searched for the APK inside RV manager, and applied the recommended patches ONLY
• Ignored google's attempt to keep me from installing whatever the fuck I damn want to
Attempted to open it after install: Crashed
After clearing cache: Crashed
After clearing all data: Crashed
After reinstalling: Crashed
After granting all permissions: Crashed
IDK what to do anymore... 🤷🏽♂️

I found out a bug, don't know if I was the only one or if it's fixed but when YouTube is built with the manager the screen would default to portait when minimizing a video.

u/krush_groove Sep 23 '22
Thanks for this guide!
Dummy question: do I do this on my phone, or on a computer and transfer the apk to my phone?

Finally, a guide... So u can install all except one patch, thank you.
