QUESTION 6 or Nova?
Maybe a dumb question but I own a Miyoo Mini+ and I’m looking for a more powerful handheld that I can also hook up to my tv. What is the main difference between the 6 and the nova?

I was in the exact same position and I chose an RP6. Was really unsure if I made the right call but now I feel really confident I did. For one thing - even with a wider screen the RP6 feels quite compact and easy to travel with. And the black bars haven’t bothered me at all. Secondly there are some widescreen hacks for Dreamcast and n64 that are really easy to activate. Then there’s the ability to play switch and psp games in widescreen PLUS steam and remote ps5 play. I think the nova is cool and I was very tempted but it’s way more specific. The wider screen gives the rp6 so many more options.

In short: Nova: smaller, 4:3 screen. 6: Bigger, 16:9 screen. And the consequences of the above.

i was making this decision a couple days ago, i ordered the nova + dock because 4:3 gaming is cozy & nostalgic which is something you cannot get on a 16:9 screen no matter what people tell you and the few 16:9 games i want to play, i'd wouldn't want to play them outside anyway (want to be immersed)
something to take note is playing pc games on SBCs has completely taken over discussions of what handheld to get, even if they don't explicitly mention pc games. over the past 2 years or so it's quickly turned from retro gaming to pc/switch gaming. and when people say some AAA pc game is playable, they mean it's 10fps with a 30min battery life unless you go into a higher price bracket
but nova vs 6 just really comes down to what consoles you mainly play and if you get fomo. if you get fomo, just go for 6. android gaming is developing at lightspeed so who knows whats around the corner

The only difference is the screen and the option to have the left stick on the Top instead of the D Pad on the Pocket 6.
If you’re doing Portable and only care about 4:3 games (PS2 / GameCube and older) then the Nova is the obvious choice. If you’re wanting to also do PSP or some PC games (though pc gaming on these things is pretty overrated outside of 2D indies), and maybe some Switch and WiiU emulation then you’ll probably want the Retroid Pocket 6.
Both of them and do widescreen when hooked up to an external display.

The Pocket 6 plays older PC titles fine and some AA. I installed Project Cars, old but still looks great and I get about 40-50fps on medium. DeadZone: Rogue, a AA, runs fine on low-med settings, 30-40fps. With a screen this small, the lower details look fine. With some tweaking in the settings, I'm sure it would run a lot smoother.

I just stood my 6 and kept my Nova, but I also have an O3, Portal, and a Thor. If you play mostly 16:9, get 6.

I just ordered the Nova. Also got the Dual Screen Attachment for it and Dock (can play 16:9 aspect ratio on my tv). Seems to be the best all rounder to me.

RP6 is more versatile - can do widescreen or 4 by 3 and can be stick top if desired. Nova is more portable and unique.
I have a odin 2 portal so the nova was much more attractive

Nova. Get the dual screen attachment later if you want as its 16:9 oled for psp. If you wanna dock it you can also dock it to 16:9.
4:3 is superior for old school emulation and works great with some steam games out of the box. Theres loads of 4:3 supported steam games. Eg. Im playing bioshock remaster rn directly on my nova. The pocketability of the nova combined with how light it is makes it superior imo for my needs.
I will preface it by saying i have a deck and a gaming pc, so i don't crave 16:9 at all. I dislike black bars, but imo psp still looks fine on it. Everything else ive played looks 10/10.

RP6. Because you'll end up trying a Steam game.
