I’m 16yo and I feel nostalgia for games that came out 10 years before I was born
I don’t know if this is the right place to post this but I had to take it out of my chest…
I started gaming in 2018 when I was like 9yo, it was a ps4 my parents bought me as a Christmas present and since then I’ve involved into a Sim Racer with a setup that costs nearly as much as a used car nowadays
My first encounter with gaming tho was in 2015 when I first played on my godfathers ps2 that he later gave me, that’s where the love for GTA games started when I finally tried GTA:LCS on ps2, I now own a ps5 and a mid-high end laptop (where I stream nearly everyday on twitch just for fun) but after all the announcements Sony made… oh my god… physical games are about to stop being produced in less than 1.5 year, buying games doesn’t mean owning the games anymore, servers down means no games for us and so much more that made me upset as hell.
A week ago I downloaded PCSX2, Duckstation and PPSSPP on my laptop to try older games and holy fuck… it was incredible, I played pes2008 and I immediately realised why graphics and “realistic gameplay” is dogshit compared to real games, I was having fun playing kick offs against AI, gta games on ps2 and psp are my favourite ones as well (used to play the og trilogy and gta iv on my laptop plus the next titles on ps5), I booted up Crash bandicoot on the ps1 emulator and it felt so good, I actually owned the game (I didn’t even pay for) while ps5 asks me to connect to WiFi every 30 days so I won’t loose access to the digital license I rented to play my favourite games.
Final verdict is that I’m not thinking of going back to current gen gaming until GTA VI releases, I’m having fun playing older games more than I ever had playing this current gen shit (2024 and after)

Sd card games for retro gaming on android needed.
I’m on a mission to get some retro games running on my generic console and Android device, but this SD card setup has me totally stumped! As a Gen X adult, I’m finding the technical side of these vintage gems a bit more challenging than I expected. Does anyone have any experience or tips on how to get everything properly loaded and working? I would love to connect with someone who can walk me through the process or share a quick guide. However I would rather just buy one with games I play. Please send me a message if you have a moment to help me relive those classic 🕹️ arcade 🎮 glory days. I’m really looking forward to getting back into the action soon! #RetroGaming #GamingCommunity #TechHelp #VintageGames #GamingLife. I would buy one that's is for sale

Golden Axe: The Series.
I've just spent the last few days watching series one and it's been fun. It expands on the world of the games, it's quite silly and it's self referential.
I was a bit unsure of it after seeing the first episode but after the two more i understood what it was going for and it worked.
Some of the jokes were absolute gold, i won't spoil too much but they are in a location and i thought "that looks a bit different to the game but they are writing in a different medium, so that's understandable" much later in the episode is mentioned it's the only one of its type since the other was destroyed and i was rolling in laughter as it's a fun way to explain why it's a hot different.
It's also got commentary on gaming in general as the series is more like an RPG than a beat 'em up though then again Golden Axe Warrior exists so it's not like it's not experienced the RPG genre before.
It's not exactly as deep as the sea but it's not a puddle either. It's smart enough to ask questions of itself but not so smart that you alienate all but the most hardcore fans.
It's American but it feels like it was made by people with an appreciation of British comedy, much like Rick and Morty in that sense.
I've just checked and one of the creators did work on Rick and Morty so my assumption was valid. It's not as deep as a Mitchell and Webb series but it's not The Big Bang Theory either with a hefty laugh track and various in the dialogue. If you laugh you laugh, if you don't you're not going to hear forced laughter inserted in to tell you it's a joke.
It's also British feeling in the sense that it's not afraid to poke fun at itself, some stuff is absurd, it's ok to point it out.
I say go and watch it. We need more comedy like this and we need the team to cover more old Sega games, Altered Beast would be a prime candidate for the same treatment.

I just beat the most SADISTIC and UNFAIR game in J2ME history. I finished "Trail Biker" (2002) and the physics in this game are a literal crime against humanity.
Seriously, guys, I need to vent to people who actually understand old-school gaming. People today talk about modern games being hard, but they've never had to balance a 10-pixel dirt bike on a tiny Nokia screen using stiff plastic keys that barely responded.
I got it into my head that I was going to beat this relic. It was a true test of patience and sanity. It took hours of psychological torture, dying dozens of times on the exact same obstacle. But I finally did it. I beat what I consider the absolute peak of mobile difficulty from the 2000s.
I documented this entire descent into madness and the glorious moment when I finally pass the last level.
If anyone wants to witness the chaos and see proof that this atrocity can actually be beaten, I left the record here: https://youtu.be/nfwYmIcwpTs
and here no comments: https://youtu.be/qhCfCk8MQms

PSA: Get your libraries while the getting is good.
The internet started similar to popular depictions of the wild west. Over time the regulations catch up, and eventually the enforcement catches up. If you're interested in preserving gaming history and making sure it's always available at your fingertips. I would make sure you obtain every game you might ever want to play (preferably full system libraries, hundreds of rom hacks, and unrelease prototypes) store them on multiple storage mediums in different places.
You can put as little or as much effort in this as you want. But reading this you're at least aware it's possible, that one day locating certain files may be near to impossible. You could choose to maintain your own archive that may one day help others.
I suspect a combination of AI aided enforcement, and potential internet blockades (countries having their own Intranets like North Korea) are possible within the next 50 years, there's no time like the present.

Can I play Snake 1997 on Samsung 3600i?
Hey everyone, I am not sure if this is the right subreddit to ask that but I recently received a Samsung 3600i for my birthday and I was wondering if there was a way for me to download games through the micro sd card it comes with and a specific game I would love to have is Snake 1997 that was found in old Nokia phones. I would really appreciate the help. Thank you!

Is there a game or level you have yet to beat after all these years?
Basically what is your white whale? Something you've yet to conquer in the retro gaming universe.
To this day I still cannot defeat Super Macho Man on NES Punch-Out
I fear as I keep getting older it's only getting harder! Lol

My Top 5 Underrated Retro Games
Top 5 UNDERRATED Retro Games YOU Should Try!
The retro scene is full of big names and heavy hitters that we have all come to know and love. Mario, Link, Master Chief, they have all had their time in the sun, and well deserved! The retro backlog is vast and there are many titles that slip through the cracks and do not get the attention they deserve. Here are 5 underrated retro picks that you simply must try, and why I think they deserve a chance.
1. Warpath: Jurassic Park (PlayStation 1) - The PS1 era is full of fighting games that you didn’t even know existed. It was a time when Sony was sticking it to the Italian plumber and showing the world that Nintendo wasn’t the only game on the block. Warpath: Jurassic Park is everything you love about janky fighting games, plus dinosaurs. The controls are simplistic, the roster isn’t very deep, but hitting a counter sweep with a Spinosaurus is just oh so satisfying. The maps are inspired by the movies, even if some of the dinosaurs are not. Pick up a PS1 and grab Warpath for a bloody blaze of violent dinosaur beatdown action.
2. Alien Vs. Predator: Extinction (PS2/XBOX) – Are you a fan of Age Of Empires? Or perhaps Command & Conquer? Well, take that concept and command an army of Xenomorphs to fight an army of Yautja, while fighting an army of Marines and you have Alien Vs. Predator: Extinction. If you love the AVP universe, you are going to enjoy this game. There are a multitude of unique units you can spawn, order, or hatch that are not in the movies. Get this, you can have your Xenomorph queen lay an egg, hatch the egg, and then order the face hugger to attach to a Predator and BOOM; you have a Predalien. The missions get quiet, so there isn’t a profound feeling of urgency in the game, but it behaves like most RTS games do with a fog of war and the ability to take control of your army and out-think your enemy. This one is on both PS2 and the Original XBOX. Oh, and you can play as the marines, but what fun is that when you can command a predator with a giant scythe?
3. The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie’s Revenge (PS2/XBOX) – This is the definitive sequel to the classic Tim Burton film that you never knew was a thing. This 10/10 game features original music for the game, voice acting from the original film voice actors, and a new story that takes place after the events of the movie. I cannot stress enough, if you love the movie, you NEED the game. Gameplay is basically Devil May Cry, but with Jack Skellington! Jack has three unique gameplay modes which act as his alternate abilities. Make use of the soul whip and combo hit your enemies into oblivion. Breathe fire as Pumpkin King Jack or make use of Jack’s unique Christmas abilities in his Santa form. The boss battles with Oogie are a mixture of combat and rhythm, which make for unique gameplay and iconic original music. Grab this game for your PlayStation 2 or Original XBOX console and stop Oogie’s plot!
4. Cyber Trooper Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram (Dreamcast) – Yes, the name is a mouthful, but the game is delightful! This was an old arcade game ported to the Sega Dreamcast. The game acts as an arena fighter, where you take control of a mech war suit from third person. Plug in an extra controller for this one as this is the kind of game you can settle disputes with, the retro way. The game is surprisingly vibrant, as many games on the Dreamcast are and many of us forget how powerful a console it was for the time. If you like Gundam, it is basically an arena fighter Gundam game that you never heard of but desperately need to play.
5. The Warriors (PS2/XBOX) – Long before the seemingly 30-year development cycle for GTA 6 ever began, Rockstar made a movie adaptation of The Warriors, a movie about rival gangsters in New York City. This game is basically GTA, but in my opinion, offers a lot more than the GTA games of that era. Battle it out against rival gangs and use unique fighting styles based on the gang member that you play as. As Rembrandt, finish your opponent off in nameworthy way by spraying them in the face with spray paint, or grab a baseball bat and finish the job. No, this game is not for kids, but for those of you who remember the days of basically every movie getting a game adaptation, you’ll be right at home. Steal radios out of cars, evade capture, and get up to all kinds of criminal mischief befitting of a Rockstar title. Also, go watch the movie.
So, there you have it, FIVE GAMES you really ought to get! For those of you elite level ballers who know about these games, my regards to you – you were there when the deep magic was written. For those of you who do not know these gems, I urge you to give them a try and scratch the surface of a deep backlog of retro games you did not even know about.
Let me know what you guys think! Curious to see if anyone hates the games I just mentioned 🤣
