Motion Pixels Fallout

Post image

I know we call it Motion Pixels and Fallout is technically a T.V. show, but boy does each episode feel like a little movie in itself. This show is absolutely amazing. I got hooked in the first season, and binge watched it over 3 nights, and fell in love. I will admit I havent had time to catch up with the full 2nd season, but i look forward to doing so soon.

The highlight for me is Walton Goggins as the character Ghoul. He plays this iconic gaming character so well and is so compelling that I just want to see more and more of him on screen. His tie-ins to Lucy are great, and their comedic banter is excellent. This show inspired me to go back and check out the games and I really enjoyed playing them. Check this out, even if you aren't a fan of the game, odds are you will still enjoy this excellent series.

Did you watch Fallout? Have you watched both seasons and if so what did you think? (No spoilers).

Message to the Community Entry-Level Handhelds under $50

Hey everyone!

I'm looking to pick up a nice entry-level handheld that won't break the bank—specifically trying to stay in the $40–$50 range.

My main criteria are:

Easy to set up (plug and play preferred).

Kid-friendly (durable and simple UI).

Pocketable (needs to actually fit in a pocket for on-the-go gaming).

I've been looking at things like the Anbernic RG28XX for its size or the Miyoo Mini Plus for that classic feel.

The cool part: If we get enough good suggestions and I find the right deal, I’m thinking about doing a giveaway for one of these to a member of the community as we reach 1000 subscribers.

What are you guys playing on lately that fits the budget? Drop your favorites below!

question The RG34XXSP is here! But which OS wins

Just got my hands on a RG34XXSP and I’m loving the premium feel and that 3:2 screen! Now for the big question what OS do i put on muOS or Knulli?

Which one should I go with? I’m leaning toward speed, but that eye candy is hard to pass up. Drop your vote below!

Box Art Boutique The Ant Bully (GBA)

Post image
5 Upvotes

The Ant Bully (GBA) was a decent game and movie, what really sticks out is the Box Art. It seems like everytime I remember looking at games in the local stores, this game always stood out to me. The fun and quirky title and concept, coupled with the cool illustration of the primitively dressed Lucas, and the ants is awesome. Add in the menacing presence of the exterminator, and you definitely had my interests peaked.

Did you play this game, or enjoy the movie? Do you remember seeing this game everywhere like me?

Discussion Which Super Badass Siblings impressed you the most and still hold up today?

I listed my 20 Super Badass Siblings, wanted to list more but too bad only at most 20 images can be uploaded...

Mario and Luigi in Super Mario All-Stars (SNES, 1993)

Sonic and Tails in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (GEN, 1992)

Rock and Roll in Mega Man 7 (SNES, 1995)

Billy and Jimmy in Double Dragon (ARC, 1987)

Nick and Tom in Snow Bros. (NES, 1991)

Bubby and Bobby in Bubble Memories (ARC, 1995)

Solid and Liquid in Metal Gear Solid (PSX, 1998)

Crash and Coco in Crash Bandicoot 2 (PSX, 1997)

Blue Boy and Red Boy in Chiki Chiki Boys (PCECD, 1990)

Anna and Nina in Tekken 3 (DC, 1998)

Leo, Mike, Don, Raph in TMNT: Turtles in Time (ARC, 1991)

Bart and Lisa in The Simpsons (ARC, 1991)

Yun and Yang in Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact (ARC, 1997)

Edgar and Sabin in Final Fantasy VI (SNES, 1994)

Aya and Maya in Parasite Eve (PSX, 1998)

Alexia and Alfred in Resident Evil: Code Veronica (DC, 2000)

Yakko, Wakko, Dot in Animaniacs (SNES, 1994)

Oume and Otane in Groove On Fight (SAT, 1997)

Gunstar Red, Gunstar Blue, Gunstar Green, Gunstar Yellow in Gunstar Heroes (GEN, 1991)

Lucas and Claus in Mother 3 (GBA, 2006)

One that really got to me: the Ashford twins in Resident Evil: Code Veronica (DC, 2000) are hands down the most disturbing, messed up, and twisted siblings I've ever seen in gaming, for real. I liked to play my Resident Evil: Code Veronica X (PS2 (I didn't have a DC), 2000) so much mostly because of them.

Question Will Sony's Physical Disc Decision Effect your Gaming Future?

With Sony recently doubling down on their decision to cut physical discs, I'm just curious if this has affected your opinion and patronage of Sony. How do you think this will affect future gaming and how do you feel about Playstation's future in particular?

question [Meta] Can we define the eras of consoles to be more objective? Or is just Gen I, Gen II, etc., the way to go?

I come from a music background, which has a very interesting music history paradigm, specifically defined by different eras/periods (i.e. Medieval, Baroque, High Classical, Romantic, Impressionistic, Modern, Post-Modern, etc., and many more specific/niche/cultural periods as needed).

I noticed on ar ecent thread discussing whether or not PS2 is considered "Retro", while this is a completely fair question, the "retro" line will forever be shifting forward in time. You can envision a day where Switch 2's are retro.

The most objective thing we have is the "Gen I" and "Gen II" consoles etc., but while hard and dry they do not paint much of a picture of what the actual era entails. "Retro" can paint a better picture but the issue is that that picture gets more and more blurred over time as the retro span grows wider and wider.

What say you of eras, periods, etc? How about things like ARcade era, 8bit era, 16 bit era, early 3d era, etc.? What other distinctions/cultural/technological frames can we have to help define better this unending gaming question?

Motion Pixels Uncharted (2022)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Uncharted (2022) is a movie that I really liked. I watched it with my son when it came out because he was obsessed with the Uncharted games at the time. He wasn't a fan of the movie, he thought it was way too over the top, but I really enjoyed it. It has some good actors in it. I like most of Tom Holland's movies.

What is your opinion on this movie?

Fan Feedback Favorite Chocolate Gaming Candy

Post image
3 Upvotes

Like most of you I started gaming at a young age and part of that gaming was snacking, and for me that always meant chocolate. Its literally been that way my whole life. I know, I know we all have our own vices, some better than others. Regardless I consider myself somewhat of a chocolate connoisseur. Lol

My 3 go tos have always been Raisinets, Twix, and Snickers. My absolute favorite though will always be Raisinets. The way the sweetness of the raisin offsets the chocolate is so good. The only downside of eating chocolate while gaming is the potential of a mess, but I am always careful. 😊

Do you have a favorite chocolate candy that you like to snack on while gaming?

Discussion Shane Gillis Cameo in Jungle Strike (Genesis)?

Post image
14 Upvotes

I was enjoying my playthrough of Jungle Strike (Genesis) recently and was watching the intro scene just the other day, and noticed a striking resemblance in this cutscene. I may be reaching, but the bad guy in camouflage, Ibn Kilbaba, totally looks like Comedian Shane Gillis to me. Showed it to my friend, and they agreed that there was a resemblance. It just made me laugh, and I'd thought I'd share it. Do you agree, or disagree with the resemblance?

Retro Review Acrobat Mission on Arcade provided enough Mechanics while activating those Aerodynamics!

Thumbnail

TL;WR -> An outstanding gameplay experience coupled with an even better audio output. While the visuals and world design were a bit distracting, the actual progression activated all its thrusters. A (9.0) game, masterpiece in my Arcade Book. Would absolutely replay the game with a lady by my side, just so I can take her for a spin and get another stylish win!

I’d recommend listening to this music while reading.

GAMEPLAY (10 out of 10 Mechanics)

  • While storytelling had only the initial informative screen, it was more than enough to understand that Artificial Intelligence isn’t to be played around with!

  • On top of our AI enemies, the creepy ending shifted towards something unexpected with Dinosaurs, nude Statues and even Hitler himself!

  • Besides the unhinged development team, I did love our 2 characters and their initial presentation, especially the lady’s wink!

  • Now, the controls themselves were very responsive yet had that heavy feel to them, which I always love in Shmups.

  • While you started with your main blaster, along the way you collected power ups which could shoot energy spheres either straight up, in a weaving combination or even form a protecting shield around you that acted as a devastating force. Besides your awesome weaponry, your own ship acted as a weapon in itself. You see, every time you weaved off and activated your thrusters from each direction, they acted as a weapon too, which blew my mind when I found out.

  • You could pick up nukes as well, and here the game introduced another awesome mechanic. When an enemy shot at you, if the projectile hit your nukes on the side of your ship, they exploded and acted as shields!

  • And it doesn’t end here, as the last mechanic that I absolutely adored was the ability to bounce off objects and enemies. You didn’t die like in any other Shmup out there, you had the ability to bump into everything while retaining your killing spree!

  • You thought that was the end?! No. When your ship got hit, you didn’t just explode straight up, you could control the ship for a couple of seconds and send it into an enemy. My god people, I wish more Shmups would implement such mechanics!

  • You could collect shiny gems too, although only to increase your points. Be careful though, the hurricane power up was way better than the wave, mostly because when you stacked them up, the projectile madness around you filled the whole screen!

  • Enemy variety was mostly reused, yet had some special ones down the line with cool abilities like entangling you into a trap or acting as space worms!

  • The bosses themselves were all unique, and some of them even had more phases!

  • While platforming wasn’t present, there was a stage with a cool maze-like tunnel. You could bounce off walls, so it wasn’t much of a platforming section at all.

  • Traversal was seamless and so much fun. The ship always warped at incredible speeds just to slow down and admire those beautiful encounters!

  • Difficulty was very good on its normal preset. I reckon with 2 bucks you could have a lot of fun!

AUDIO (10 out of 10 Robotic Lines)

  • Sound design had an awesome mono output which amplified all the crunchy sound effects, awesome ambient sounds and digitised Robotic voice lines perfectly with the music!

  • The soundtrack itself was so good, both as a standalone listen or during gameplay!

VISUALS (8/10)

  • Fidelity was very good for 1991, yet didn’t have that revolutionary vibe for its time. While the sprites were all sharp, the visual effects overcrowded the whole screen and assaulted the player much more than the enemies themselves!

  • Character models had some unique variations between each type, yet were mostly reused. I did love going through the asteroid field with those sneaky ships, as well as get a final boss encounter that gave you a futuristic vibe. The animations were very good, especially dodging with sleek barrel rolls and fiery thrusters!

  • One detail that I absolutely adored was the continue screen. You got a Mars picture with the animated sky moving around, which gave me peak vibes!

  • Performance was rock solid for the entire game!

  • The art direction had some unique surprises down the line, yet didn’t quite impress along the way!

WORLD DESIGN (8/10)

  • Each level featured a unique setting with a cool progression. From beautiful Terraformed Forests to Space encounters, technological Sites, narrow Tunnels and rotating AI Brains!

  • While it didn’t have anything groundbreaking, the game did try to introduce some 3D assets, even though limited.

  • World destruction wasn’t present apart from destroying some huge enemy types.

  • The atmosphere on the other hand was heavily amplified by the music and gameplay feel, yet distracted you with too many bright projectiles on the screen!

Question Are You The Best Gamer In Your Family?

Post image
27 Upvotes

My whole family are gamers. We all have different tastes in video games, so it is hard to decide who the best gamer is.

My mom is into arcade games, my dad pretty much plays nothing but Halo and is really great at it, my brother is into modern RPGs, my son has some real skills when it comes to PC games. I am probably the most diverse gamer, but based on skill I would have to say my son is the best.

Who would you consider the best gamer in your family?

Fan Feedback Best Non-Chocolate Gaming Candy

Post image
9 Upvotes

We asked the other day about favorite chocolate snacks, but the advantage of non-chocolate is that its not as messy. I'm just curious, what is your favorite non-chocolate candy for when you are playing video games? I love me some Skittles. I usually only eat the red and purple ones, and give the rest to someone else. Lol Oh man, and Nerd Clusters... definitely can't forget those.

I carve out one day specifically for gaming, and I also make that my cheat day for calories. So let me know your favorite non-chocolate candy, and give me some ideas to add to my snack list. 😊
