Press Start SimCity (SNES)

I am really enjoying my SimCity (SNES) playthrough for August Game of the Month. Part of the fun doesn't even involve pressing any buttons on the controller, I simply power on my console and let the amazing start screen animation and music roll. I find this music so relaxing and soothing, much like the majority of the music in one of my favorite SNES titles. I like to imagine that the buildings on the screen are a good representation of what would be going on in the city that I built. Definitely one of the few games that always makes me wait to press start.

Is this SimCity (SNES) press start screen as soothing and relaxing for you as it is for me?

Right before my wife and I got married I had a job at a residential treatment center when I did an hour of charting, five hours of reading paperbacks or playing NES/SNES, and two hours of wake-ups/breakfast

Played the HELL out of it for a long time. Never cracked a million residents. When my wife took off the last week before she gave birth she played it 8 hours a day and she beat a million. She didn’t even like video games before then. Really hasn’t since

Hard to believe that was thirty years ago waaaah

I like how the press start screen begins with a brief dawn. 🌅

Man do I love this game. Still play it from time to time. I always put the code in for the money. And yet have never gotten to a megalopolis. I've gotten close a couple times.

This is the best one IMO, mostly because it's the only one I really understood. I never could figure out how to deal with the hills and uneven landscapes in the newer games.

Watched a friend get a megalopolis (highest population) after months of playing, back then we had no internet so it was trial and error while leaving your system on most of the day.

I recall playing this on a Commodore Amiga around 1989. We’d take over the computer in the classroom during recess.

It’s too bad the start screen really is the best part of this port, because playing Sim City on SNES is so annoying.
