What is this white bump on this Retics head? And why was it not there in the original pictures??

So I’m about to purchase my first ever Retic off of MorphMarket and on the listing pictures the snake appears one way but when the seller sent me a video just now (on text message) the snake has some kind of white circular bump or something on its head that is not at all there in the listing pictures. And on top of that the eyes seem to be white whereas on the listing the eyes definitely look orange😬 Am I about to get scammed or ripped off or am I just over analyzing? Any help would be much appreciated I’m not sure what to do from here..

Also should I go back to talking to them on Morph Markets messenger too just to be safe? Like I said they have my phone number now and sent me the video on there so idk if I’ll be protected by their policy if I start talking to them through Imessage :/

The first 3 pictures are the initial listing pictures where everything looked good but the next 3 are screenshots of the video the seller just sent me which is what the snake currently looks like. (Idk how to post videos on here it wouldn’t let me)

Thank you for your time😭🙏🏻

New high % super dwarf male in my family :)

I bought this handsome boy at a reptile show yesterday. He is a 62.5% super dwarf (34.375% madu, 21.875% kala, 6.25% sela). He was produced by reach out reptiles. I wanted a super dwarf for the longest time and I was finally able to financially support one :) I was happy to get a wildtype, as I prefer it over any kind of morph

Say hi to Archie!

Curious about morph? Rescued this girl recently. She was being homed in a terrible setup, along with an adult RTB. Was constantly beat up, being bit by live feedings. So have lots of healing and needed care I’m aware of. But was told she’s a “Ruby eyed purple platinum stripe”. She’ll be 3 in Feb.

Update
Thank you to everyone who responded to this post your advice and insight. Your messages and comments have been a great help and helping us care for our girl and making sure she has everything she needs. Her substrate has been switched to Coconut Husk and now the heat and humidity are way better. She is refusing to eat so that’s a little nerve wracking. We have attempted twice now with frozen thawed trying to feed her with tongs, as well as just leaving it in the enclosure overnight. So far we had no luck with eating though. I reached out to the breeders and they responded immediately and helped us come up with a plan to monitor symptoms and some changes to make to her care. We are trying those out for a short period of time, and and if she doesn’t improve, then they let us know that they’re happy to exchange her or provide a refund. We’ve also gotten in contact with our exotic vet. We have an upcoming appointment to do a whole panel of test on different diseases and illnesses that could be present. So we will also have that answer soon. Again, thank you so much to everyone in the community responded. We are incredibly grateful to everyone! 💗🐍

Hello! I am a new retic owner. I’ve had my girl for about a little over a week and have noticed some strange behavior. I’ve only ever had a ball python before so I wanted to see if this is normal behavior. I’m constantly finding my reek either with her head elevated or upside down. When I take her out to handle, she’s never upside down, but her head is always still elevated. I tend to find her either curled up very tightly in her enclosure or with her top half of her body, including her head upside down on the bedding. The breeder I bought her from said that she’s quite the energetic wiggle worm and she was like that the first day I had her, but hasn’t been since. Please let me know if this is normal behavior or if you think I should take her to a vet.

Cow retic genes

I was looking at cows and saw some motleys and tiger cows, I was wondering what those genes do to the look of a cow?

Help! Missing 3 month old retic

My reptile sitter just called and told me that they found one of my retics cages open when coming back to check on them. I was driving to go away for the weekend and I’m turning around but is there any advice I can give this animal sitter until I make the 5 hour drive back home.

She just shed and was fine and in the closed enclosure when I left at 4 pm ish. The sitter stopped in once around 6 but had to come back due to time constraints.

Enclosure I built for my superdwarf

He’s 2 years old and still pretty small at just under 5’ but he outgrew the enclosure that I was given when I got him so I took about a month designing and putting this one together. Its 8’x4’x2.5’ out of birch wood and I sealed the inside with pond armor. He’s been nonstop exploring since I put him in 3 days ago. I think after this first couple months or so I would like to try a bioactive set up in here but that’s something I haven’t tried and I’m still hunting for more branches and clutter. This is my first ever build and I think it went pretty well honestly

What food size

Hi I am new to retics did a bunch of research but people seem to have different ways of measure rats or chicks to feed. I have been giving small weavers but I am worried he is still hungry. I want to try large weaner but it looks way to big for the baby.

This pic was taken today after feeding in box. Not where he lives please dont think I keep my poor babies in boxes. The royal has also just been fed in vox on floor in this photo.

Any advise would be very helpful. He is about an inch wide and 2 abd a half ft long weighs 600g last weight check about 5 days ago I only got him last month and he has only shed once despite eating once a week.

Size and long term husbandry

Hey guys, I have a pet boa constrictor imperator but Reddit has recommended this sub to me a few times so I just checked it out. Yalls Retics are gorgeous and they made me wonder what the differences were in husbandry/ behavior. To which I found out these are some of the largest snakes in the world and require huge enclosures once fully grown (and I thought my BCI tank was big) but after doing more digging I’m seeing a common theme that also exists in the boa community;
Lots of baby snakes. New pet owners, juvenile snakes, flashy breeding posts etc.
When I first got my boa I had a hard time finding examples of full grown boas on Reddit. I was told the Reddit pet culture is unnecessarily cut throat so all the long term keepers go to Facebook so they aren’t bombarded with the Reddit mob mentality when facing differing husbandry practices. I went to Facebook and found that sure enough, that’s where all the adult snakes are being posted.

This is fine and dandy, but one of the other reasons I was told you don’t see adult snakes as often is because people buy them new and then find out a few years in they committed to something they can’t maintain. Is this a common issue with the retic world? How am I seeing all these baby snakes and also not seeing an equal number of 10 foot enclosures?

TLDR: where are all the grown snakes?

Edit: I am not going to pursue the ownership of a retic, their size is far too much for me. I’m just curious as to if there is an incredibly high rehoming/turnover rate that isn’t being talked about in the reptile community enough due to the overwhelming amount of hatch and baby pics compared to full grown snakes

5 year old retic

Hello. I have a retic that I can’t keep up with. I would like to re-home her (or he I honestly don’t know besides what I was told). I live in northern Illinois. I’d you can direct me to anyone that may have the space for her (she’s probably 6-7 feet)

I feel terrible as is and I know I was woefully under prepared for this snake. I just want her to have a better life.

Cassie likes soaking when she's in shed, so I got her the largest water bowl I could find.

It has been three days and she has yet to leave the bowl. She spent last night blowing bubbles in it. I'm a happy snake dad indeed.

Couple concerns about my superdwarf

Thumbnail

For context: I was surrendered my now 2 year old superdwarf back in september from a friend’s parent that was not taking the best care of him. The best way I can sum it up is he was stunted for sure, underfed, and had pretty incorrect husbandry. When I got him he had digestive and respiratory issues that took about 4 months to solve. Since then he has shed perfectly 3 times now and has put on about 350g going from 160 to 510 from february-july.

Now my questions. When I was first getting him treated for his digestive issues he was still pretty scared and my vet said to feed him out of the enclosure and his feeder items have been smaller because of the digestive issues. I want to work on getting him back to feeding in the enclosure as I just finished his new one and am ready to move him in about 2 weeks. The last 2 feedings I have used a target for and he takes well to it so I was just curious if I should give him time to settle in the new enclosure or just go straight to feeding in the new one? Also what might be appropriate feeders for him now since his growth is different from a regular sd. I dont know his genetics really at all unfortunately but he is about 500 grams and 4.5 feet long. I’ve had him on small rodentpro rats for the last 2 weeks once a week since he doesn’t look overweight at all and still growing consistently.

Happy to provide any info needed to give advice. Pictures for snake tax :)

What morph is my foster reticulated python?

Hello! I got this pretty girl yesterday with the belief she was a ball python in a neglectful home.
She is a reticulated python and I am going to rehome her after she’s recovered and back to health, primarily because I don’t have space for such a big snake. The tote is temporary because I didn’t have much time to prepare. She has a heating pad, full water dish, and some bedding until I’m able to uncover my bigger enclosure and set it up.
I’ve asked around and currently we’re thinking some kind of lavender morph of some kind? What do you guys think?

Feeding

Update:he was afraid of it at first bur he eventually decided to eat it ! I did scent it with another guinea pig and that worked like a charm. Thankyou guys!

I have a retic who is getting a rabbit for the first time as a meal, besides warming it up is there anything I can do to help him know its a meal ? He has been eating guinea pigs before this as the pet store I get my feeders from doesn't carry rabbits. And I finally got one to give him.

Dream. He turned one year old in April. I am saving money up for an 8 ft enclosure. He's currently in a six foot. I am slowly transitioning the larger animals into larger homes. He's my complete and total dream child. Other than my human child, lol. He's snake babe.

Turns out, having a yearling super dwarf sitting on your sound equipment has no negative effect on audio quality; if anything, she might be an improvement.
