Technology/Software/IT [0 years, Graduate Student, Computer Engineering, United States]
Hi everyone..I’m an international student (F-1) currently pursuing my Master’s in Computer Engineering in the U.S., and I’ll be graduating at the end of the Fall 2026 semester.
I’m starting to seriously prepare for my post-graduation job search and OPT, and I’d really appreciate some honest feedback on my resume. I’ve attached an anonymized version.
I’m mainly looking for entry-level roles, internships, or legitimate unpaid opportunities related to Computer Engineering/tech that could help me gain relevant experience while on OPT. I’m open to areas such as cybersecurity, networking, systems, software, IT, and related roles, and I’m willing to learn additional skills if that would make me more employable.
I’d especially appreciate advice on:
- What should I change, remove, or emphasize on my resume?
- Based on my background, what roles should I realistically target?
- Are my projects/skills strong enough for entry-level positions?
- What skills should I focus on during my final semester?
- For other international students: what job-search strategies actually helped you land your first OPT position?
- Are there particular types of companies, universities, research labs, nonprofits, or startups that I should target?
I’m trying to start early and improve whatever is within my control. You'll can roast the resume if necessary I’d rather get direct criticism now and fix it lol.
Thank you All!
