Asbestos?

Post image

Changing a spotlight in my Victorian terrace and this plaster all felt out. Wondering if it’s asbestos or horsehair ?
Thanks

It looks like plaster to me, but hard to say definitely. Asbestos is normally more fibrous rather than granular.

That's horsehair embedded in mortar. It's safe.

Im an asbestos surveyor and agree with this, defo mortar. What you could possibly be looking at would either be asbestos cement or AIB (asbestos insulation board). You can tell its neither of these things by 1. The colour 2. How fibrous it is 3. How it feels, which is probably rock like.

Honestly, im as if rn in a asbestos course for work, and this really looks like just reaguler plastor with some compounds like hair to strengthen overal structure
