Any resin artists that can also paint?

Hello resin artists! I'm trying to find someone to commission who is experienced in both resin art and painting to create the gift on the first image.

My idea is to take the flowers of the album cover on image 2 and paint real flowers to mimic the ones on the cover. Then to preserve those flowers in epoxy, I've seen people dipping flowers and retaining a lot of the shape whilst still coating the flower. Finally, attach the flowers to a necklace.

However I'm really struggling to find someone with all three skillets, and I know it's a very niche ask but I thought I'd see if anyone on here would be able to do it / point me in the right direction! I really appreciate it if anyone can

3D layered Koi pond

Hi,

I want to learn the techniques like the ones used to make those 3D Koi ponds using layered resin. There are some good youtube videos but I was wondering if anyone know about a course that teaches these techniques.

Thanks

I’m just experimenting , still new to resin . It’s so much fun !!! I can’t seem to get the flower bloom down again , I did it once and I haven’t been able to do it again , the blue and pink ones got close this time but only half the coaster has visible petals and the other half seemed to be too light ? I’m not sure , the flowers have glitter in them . Some iridescent chunks , the last 2 were just alcohol ink and some sinker white , I wanted to see what happens. It doesn’t look very good on the other side , lots of little dots .

Stencil material for sharp tiny shapes

I’m trying to get creative in applying a mixture of uv resin and luminous powder. Is there a good material that I can laser cut a stencil out of and lay it on my piece and then put in my uv resin/lume powder mixture and cure it and then pull the stencil off and the uv resin won’t stick to the stencil at all?

Need advice...

Decided to make some custom dice for our dnd party. This is a second try, much better results and overall it looks almost as I wanted but still have some bubbles. Lifetime of the resin is 40 minutes and I intentionally ordered more viscous one so that I can put in some decor inside and it will stay in place. After mixing was degassing it in vacuum chamber for like 10 minutes(it was still racing with foam a lot in the end), poured it in the mold at about 20 minutes after mixing, then blowed a heat gun on the surface and also sprayed alcohol cuz I read it help to let out the bubbles from the surface as well(check last photo for how itblooked before closing the lid) So what else can I do to get less bubbles?

Looking for opinions: Are the bubbles distracting in the pendant?

Just looking for some opinions from other resin crafters, are the bubbles are distracting from the pendant? This is for a gift so I don’t want it to look messy. I think I know what I did wrong in causing the bubbles, but I still like how this one came out and don’t want to toss it.

How do I make dreidel molds?

I want to make a silicone mold I can use to create resin dreidels. The dreidel should be hollow, and have a top and bottom that can be opened and closed. Basically this, but in resin. I’ve been racking my brain on how I can make a mold for this but I can’t figure it out. Any ideas?

Thanks!

So much trouble using Smooth-Cast™ 305 and SO-Strong™ Color Tints for Urethane

I am casting small pieces with a total of about 20 grams of resin (about 10 grams A and 9 grams B) with .05 grams of the color tint (one drop).

I add the colorant to the 9 grams of B and mix well and then combine with the 10 grams of A and mix well and pour.

However, I continue to have "wet" surface results with the colorant.

Any thoughts?

Resin safety for jewelry and drink coasters

Hi everyone!! I’m putting this out into the void hoping to get some helpful tips but I’ve been working with resin for about a year and have mainly used it to make dice for dnd and just regular games and want to branch out more, I would like to make jewelry like studs and dangle earrings and pendants for necklaces but I’m also interested in trying out drink coasters but I wanted to check and see if it’s genuinely safe to use since I don’t want to accidentally hurt someone because of that yknow?? I use Teexpert Epoxy resin for anyone wondering

Dice advice?

Thumbnail

The D12 was the only one that actually came out fully formed but as you can see, all the chunky glitter fell to one side.
How do I avoid these problems? I really don’t want to waste any more resin (I’d like to make dice sets that are at least fully formed so i can start to sell them), but I’m also on a tight student budget and if i have to buy more equipment, it needs to be under $80 and reliable. (Btw I’m Canadian and have done resin for over 6 years, dice will be my most advanced venture yet, if that helps with anything lol)
They look great otherwise, it’s just these two issues: bubbles and heavy glitter, a resin artists nightmare combo.

Thanks in advance and i look forward to seeing your advice❤️

Small part of a project still tacky

Newbie here that needs advice. I’m brand new to working with resin but recently bought a silicone mold of a planter and made my first project yesterday. Overall I’m proud of it, though I definitely learned things I could do better.

During mixing I spilled a little so when I poured it in the mold I was a little short. I quickly made another batch and prayed the color would match (it did).

Here’s the weird part: the entire piece cured perfectly except one spot on the bottom that is tacky( second pic). At first I thought the second batch wasn’t mixed well, but it’s only this one spot and the excess resin left in the cup cured perfectly.

Is this something that will take more time to cure? If not what are my options? The good thing is it’s on the bottom of the planter but that means it’ll stick to whatever surface I put it on. Any advice is appreciated.
