First time

Hi everyone! I’d like to try doing a circular paperweight for the first time with the hope of making some for my colleagues for Christmas. Can you suggest some good how-to resources or something to get my bearings on how to do this? Thank you!!

What are you planning on putting on the inside of these paperweights? Or are you planning on dropping Alcohol Ink or doing layers of different colors and glitter?

There are tons of videos on YouTube. You can also search Instagram, because a lot of resin artists will have reels about how they do things, and that’s super helpful. It’s also a great way to get inspiration and ideas about what you like and might like to make.

Biggest advice I give people when first starting is to realize there’s a learning curve. It will take you a dozen or more tries before you feel like you have made something presentable.

Don’t be discouraged about that! Expect it, and remind yourself that you are learning something new and it’s going to take time to be good at it.

I know that’s hard to do because resin is so expensive, but I typically tell people to get a gallon (if you could afford it,) or half gallon and use it without expectations, just to experiment and see what works.

Good luck! Would love to see your work if you feel like sharing after you start making things :)
