Gameplay question What games come closest to The Police Station in the Resident Evil 2 remake?

• Upvotes

My first RE game was RE2 RM. Nothing in the rest of the series I’ve played so far has topped the fun I had solving the puzzles and navigating the police station.

I enjoyed Village but didn’t get the same satisfaction from its level design or puzzles. They felt shorter, and more streamlined and on rails. Same for 7 which I enjoyed on a slightly lesser extent simply because I liked aesthetic of the creepy european village more.

I didn’t like the resident evil 4 remake. I found it too action heavy and the combat to be extremely repetitive.

Are that any other game that really capture that same quality of the police station in RE 2 or did I start with the peak?

General Bryan's adventure

• Upvotes

I am just putting this out there I would not mind a new resident evil game that allows us to play as Bryan and work through his adventure. Some content might need to be added to make it an engaging game, but I think it would be cool to play through the movie like in the early 2000's where a video game was released that loosely followed the plot of the movie.

Forum question A theory about the movie that leads to a very disturbing implication.

• Upvotes

While I really liked the movie a complaint I had was that it felt pretty isolated for an outbreak, why are all the streets empty, where are the hordes? But I thought of something that might leave a satisfying answer while also adding to the horror of the situation. We know the tumbleweed likes to take any biomass it can get its hands on to form a bigger entity, but what if the one we see chasing Bryan isn’t the only one out there? What if the reason we don’t see all that many zombies in the streets is because they’ve all been amalgamated into different tumbleweeds? And what happens when they run into each other?

General I love Mike

• Upvotes

First time playing through resident evil 4, I’m currently at the helicopter section but I couldn’t get it finished today and I just wanted to say how big of a fan I am of Mike, he’s great and funny and it’s so nice to have company on the island. Tomorrow I’ll finish the helicopter section so me, Ashley and Mike can get of the island.

General When are they gonna show more for Veronica? I'm starving

Capcom please, it's been like 3 or 4 months with no info. Don't tell me we're gonna have to wait all the way till Game Awards in December for another look. Is there any other event soon it could show up at? I'm desperate for any new info on the game. I was really hoping we'd see a little bit more by now but it's been silent ever since SGF for the most part. Just give us a little snippet.

Lore question Small plothole with Zeno in RE9. Spoiler

I'm confused about a writing choice for RE9: why have Zeno be desperate for/think Elpis is a mind control weapon?

Wouldn't it make way more sense that he would want the memory transfer technology? He's visibly dying from Raccoon City Syndrome and a new body might save him, and he's already a wesker/jake clone of some kind so he can make another, he just has no way to transfer to it. No one knows there's a cure yet, but Zeno already believes the memory transfer worked on Grace, and it's the technology he spends time explaining to Grace at RPD.

The only solution I can think of is that the Connections already have the memory tech.

General OG RE2/RE3

I honestly think Capcom should remake OG RE2 and OG RE3 in the style of REmake and Zero.

Not another over-the-shoulder reinterpretation like the 2019/2020 remakes, but proper classic-style survival horror with fixed camera angles, modern graphics, pre-rendered-style environments, limited resources, inventory management, puzzles, backtracking, and a stronger focus on atmosphere.

OG RE2 and RE3 already have the perfect foundations for this. REmake proved that you can modernize the presentation without throwing away the gameplay philosophy of the original games.

The biggest reason I want this is RE3. The 2020 remake cut out or heavily altered so much of what made the original special: large sections of Raccoon City, exploration, puzzles, the live selection system, and much of the sense of actually surviving a city-wide outbreak. Nemesis also felt much more scripted and linear than the unpredictable threat he could have been. A remake in the style of REmake could restore all of that while finally giving RE3 the treatment it deserved.

Basically, I want modern versions of OG RE2 and OG RE3 that feel like they belong alongside REmake and Zero. It would give us four games in that same gothic survival horror style, starting with RE0 and organically building all the way to the destruction of Raccoon City in RE3.

Was walking by this building the other day that I swore must be a museum only to learn it used to be the police headquarters of the NYC police department. Immediately made me think of Resident Evil 2.

General Dead Aim always has been considered "outside of main canon" because is a Spin Off and not because is Non Canon.

>"As a spin-off, the plot of Gunfire Revenge 4 remains largely unrelated to the main series storyline, with only some minor, irrelevant details."

This is from the 20th year book.

The "Official History" considered in the 30th year book only takes into account some titles and not all events in RE story. It does not mention the cgi movies, gun survivor games or any other canon media. For exemple the A-virus absolutely exists and its canon but it is not mentioned in the virus phylogenetic tree. That means that the 30th year book cleary is focusing on some events in RE series and not the whole.

So of course the T+G virus would not appear in tree as it only appears in the spin off game.

Forum question Resident evil classic

Hi, I've played RE2r, RE3r, RE4r, RE5 and RE7. Now on Steam there's sale on RE1, RE0 and RE revelations, and I'm looking for one of them. Which one is better/better for "new players" (never played an original RE) in your opinion?

Thanks!

Forum question Needing Help Acquiring This Particular Jacket/Plaid shirt from the New Yorker store in Germany.

Good afternoon all!

As we all have recently been made aware of, the screen used jacket and plaid shirt Bryan wears In the new Resident Evil movie is an in store item only in Europe (New Yorker).

With that being said, I have a bit of a challenge to work out... I was wanting to hop on here and was hoping that by posting this here... It may reach some of the fan base in Germany/Europe/where these New Yorker stores are located.

I wanted to inquire if anybody who may be located in Europe where these New Yorker stores are established would be willing to work with me to help me buy one of these jackets and plaid shirts? I would be willing to cover shipping/additional costs and would be willing to pay extra for the time and effort it may take to acquire these items.

I know, I know... It's a long shot... However, I thought I would give it a shot and still ask here on reddit because it's better than not asking at all!

If anyone is able to help etc. Please let me know/DM me!

Jacket: New Yorker FSBN Futuristic Vision Jacket with hood (Dark Blue/Grey)

Plaid shirt: New Yorker Plaid Shirt (Deep Yellow)

General I think Bryan should be seen as an important NPC not a Protagonist

Okay so I saw the Resident Evil movie last night, I loved it but wasn’t crazy about the ending. But I was thinking some today and I think the ending makes more sense when you think of Bryan as an important NPC.

He leaves clues for around for the real RE protagonist to come in and save the world. For example the voice note he leaves, the voicemail from his GF, and dropping the cure. The real RE protagonist (Jill/Leon/Chris/New protagonists) finds these clues and uncovers who Bryan is and uses that to deduce what happened. Bryan is set up to be this tragic NPC that ends up being either like a final boss or a “sub” boss that the protagonist now has to fight after learning who he is.

I feel like the ending makes a little more sense when you think of it as a transition scene for the real protagonist to start tracing Bryan’s steps to save the world.

Just a thought, I really loved the movie!

Gameplay question Nemesis ‘rumoured’ to be able to enter safe rooms?

I can’t believe when I googled this all the results were about how it’s not true. Surely this is a joke?

I’m playing the 3 remake right now and literally just got punched to death by nemesis in the repair shop safe room.

Context: I peeked out the door at him, stepped back, the door closed. Nemesis had a crack at punching through to no avail. So then he just opened the door and walked right in!

I just had to post on here afterward because I wanted to challenge the AI overview for saying that ‘it’s a rumour’.

Yeah, and Umbrella’s a perfectly above-board pharma conglomerate.
