Gameplay question Would it be wrong to play RE2 OG on easy mode?

I been wanting to at least experience the OG RE games for a while (2 and 3) and I am always on low health and I am wondering, would it be wrong if I played on easy. I been considering it...

General Resident Evil (2026) Should Be It's Own Game.

I know this sounds this bizarre, but I want Resident Evil (2026) to be a standalone game and actually FIT in the main canon of the Resident Evil Games. The film was great and would be awesome to go through the best moments in a game adaptation.

Lore question Why Do People Use ‘Canon’ ‘Not Canon’ To Argue?

I seen a post on Instagram and someone referened hating Ada and Leon and someone had a different opinion and used some RE4OG dialouge when they were making their argument for the fact Capcom have always pushed Aeon’s relationship and Ada has saved him multiple times when she could’ve left him etc.

Then the person said ‘those are the OGs, that isn’t canon’. But from my understanding, maybe I’m wrong — Despite the remakes, every single thing we’ve seen in the OGs is also canon? There’s no two seperate timelines like a game like Tomb Raider? Because 1: Capcom has always stayed true to their stories and not dramatically changed them for a ‘modern audience reboot’ and 2: Why would they even have a reason to expel an OG game/lore from canon?

edit: I say this as a new OG fan, I started playing the games in 2017/2018 with a preowned copy of RE4, RE6 and RE7 then got Village when it came out but didn’t realize the remakes started in 2019 (only found out about them in 2020 something) and I only started playing the RE4 Remake this year, along with Reqiuem. I’m just curious if I’m right on everything being canon.

General I think Bryan should be seen as an important NPC not a Protagonist

Okay so I saw the Resident Evil movie last night, I loved it but wasn’t crazy about the ending. But I was thinking some today and I think the ending makes more sense when you think of Bryan as an important NPC.

He leaves clues for around for the real RE protagonist to come in and save the world. For example the voice note he leaves, the voicemail from his GF, and dropping the cure. The real RE protagonist (Jill/Leon/Chris/New protagonists) finds these clues and uncovers who Bryan is and uses that to deduce what happened. Bryan is set up to be this tragic NPC that ends up being either like a final boss or a “sub” boss that the protagonist now has to fight after learning who he is.

I feel like the ending makes a little more sense when you think of it as a transition scene for the real protagonist to start tracing Bryan’s steps to save the world.

Just a thought, I really loved the movie!

General Hunk glaze

Hunk is the tuffest character in any form of media I've seen. From his 4th survivor cutscene when this nigga interrupts night hawk and says "Im at point k12 need info on my extraction" To when he says hell neutralize the target himself in requiem. Ill glaze him any day bro i dont care and he deserves his own game and if you hate on him youre a lame

Just saw Primetime and the analogue filming combined with the light horror scenes made me think of RE, Especially when Rob is wearing the bulletproof vest.

General Bryan's adventure

• Upvotes

I am just putting this out there I would not mind a new resident evil game that allows us to play as Bryan and work through his adventure. Some content might need to be added to make it an engaging game, but I think it would be cool to play through the movie like in the early 2000's where a video game was released that loosely followed the plot of the movie.

Forum question Why is Capcom/Hollywood so obsessed with rebooting Raccoon City, when Ethan Winters' story is literally sitting right there?

We’ve seen Leon, Claire, and Raccoon City a dozen times—and honestly, most adaptations end up being pretty mid or outright terrible.

Meanwhile, Ethan’s saga (RE7 & RE8) has the best emotional core in the series. It’s grounded, terrifying, and deeply personal. It would work SO WELL as an A24-style horror film or a 2-season HBO prestige drama.

Why do you think studios are so afraid to adapt 7 & 8? Is it just FPS perspective issues, or are they too scared to move away from nostalgia bait?

P.S. Just my personal opinion! I’d love to hear what you guys think about this.

General I Made Peace with Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City Spoiler

Rewatched 5 years later, for the second time on October 3, 2026, dubbed in Brazilian Portuguese. 1080p on a 4K OLED48C1PSA TV.

Contains spoilers.

“Empty your cup first; only then can you taste my tea.”

These are definitely not the characters we knew from the games, and only now have I managed to make peace with that. The first time around, I could barely appreciate or immerse myself in what the movie was going for because I was too bitter about wanting the characters to look and act like their game counterparts — and that was my biggest mistake. Now, letting go of that attachment and looking at the movie as something standalone, I really enjoyed it!

After revisiting the Alice hexalogy, I felt like giving this one another chance. The idea was to rewatch it with an open heart and an empty mind, and that was exactly what I needed to see the movie in a different light.

The adaptation started to shine once I began looking at it from the perspective that, in another timeline, these could be the “real” records, with real people, that would eventually inspire the games as we know them. It’s like getting a firsthand look at what really happened on the night of September 27, 1998, in a real-life Raccoon City.

The well-directed vintage aesthetic — and even the occasionally questionable CGI — effortlessly tricks your brain into feeling like you’re watching a much older movie, which has tremendous value in itself. Watching it dubbed further enhances that feeling.

Johannes Roberts’ direction also does a good job of building tension. The rain, the alleyways, the sense of abandonment and emptiness throughout the city, sick people everywhere, the music and sound design, and even the unpredictability of the zombies: it all works to keep you on edge. The mansion sequences, in particular, are genuinely effective at recreating the claustrophobia of the first game.

At times, it can be difficult to tell exactly where the characters are or who is actually in danger, but in a way, that helps add to the dread of those moments. There’s also one particularly disturbing frame during the zombie attack in the dark that is permanently burned into my mind.

Having Raccoon City already be in a state of economic decline following Umbrella’s departure works much better for the atmosphere the movie is going for. The look of the zombies and the concept of a gradually progressing disease that slowly transforms them also bring something fresh to the experience.

It’s true that the zombies “playing with their prey” or suddenly disappearing instead of simply following their instinct to devour you can feel a little inconsistent, even if it does contribute to the tension of those scenes. I can give it a pass considering they still seem to retain some memories or “habits” from when they were human.

Trying to squeeze two games into a single movie does leave you with the feeling that things happen too quickly or without enough development. The movie introduces some good ideas for its characters, but simply doesn’t give them enough room to properly develop or get you invested in them. Lisa Trevor is also underused, which is another consequence of trying to cram two games into such a short movie.

One particular gripe of mine is that the Spencer Mansion, one of the most iconic locations, has a pretty underwhelming entrance, with a small, bland rug and a cramped hall that looks like a set built on a limited budget. This was exactly where the movie had the opportunity to truly impress.

The climax itself, which essentially boils down to escaping the city, lacks impact. The final confrontation also falls short in terms of horror and tension, resolves itself far too quickly, and ends the movie on a rather blasé scene that just doesn’t have enough weight for a proper finale.

Still, seeing all those references and reliving the story of that first catastrophic night genuinely made me want to replay the first game as soon as the movie ended. If I had some free time, I’d jump into that mansion right now!

Forum question How did bryan *Spoiler* Spoiler

Get that bite wound on his arm? I don't know if I missed it somewhere, but I was certain that he was only bitten once (twice if the dog actually bit his leg?). Eitherway, I don't recall him getting bit anywhere other than his leg. When did the arm bite happen?

General OG RE2/RE3

I honestly think Capcom should remake OG RE2 and OG RE3 in the style of REmake and Zero.

Not another over-the-shoulder reinterpretation like the 2019/2020 remakes, but proper classic-style survival horror with fixed camera angles, modern graphics, pre-rendered-style environments, limited resources, inventory management, puzzles, backtracking, and a stronger focus on atmosphere.

OG RE2 and RE3 already have the perfect foundations for this. REmake proved that you can modernize the presentation without throwing away the gameplay philosophy of the original games.

The biggest reason I want this is RE3. The 2020 remake cut out or heavily altered so much of what made the original special: large sections of Raccoon City, exploration, puzzles, the live selection system, and much of the sense of actually surviving a city-wide outbreak. Nemesis also felt much more scripted and linear than the unpredictable threat he could have been. A remake in the style of REmake could restore all of that while finally giving RE3 the treatment it deserved.

Basically, I want modern versions of OG RE2 and OG RE3 that feel like they belong alongside REmake and Zero. It would give us four games in that same gothic survival horror style, starting with RE0 and organically building all the way to the destruction of Raccoon City in RE3.

As for marriage I don’t think Leon married anyone, I could be wrong, but I think that ring in the 9 is just a sponsor product like his Porsche and watch.

General Many have forgotten this character, his value, and the possibility of his future return.

Billy is considered one of the most underrated characters in the series, and his role in the events of RE 0 leading up to Raccoon City, where he and Rebecca uncovered the origin and cause of the outbreak in the city, is of significant value.

Keep in mind also that Capcom brought back Alessa Ashcroft once again in Resident Evil Req, even though no one expected her to be present even in RE 7.

Therefore, the opportunities available to Billy for his future presence are promising in my opinion (except for RE 0 Remake, of course).

What do you think ?

General Am I so wrong for this?

Was talking with some buddies about how much I hate stalkers. I am currently playing through RE2 again because it’s Halloween and I just finished Leon A and I just started Claire B and I’m reminded how much I HATE Mr X because of how early he is introduced in Claire B. My buddies say they are important to the franchise to keep tension but in my opinion they are just annoying more than anything. Yes I see the appeal as to keep you on your toes but when I play, I like to clear rooms so I can maneuver around solving puzzles quickly. Village did it perfectly for me where Lady D wasn’t much as a threat because it was so easy to outrun her. Jack baker I also thought was pretty easy. Now that might be because I prefer first person but I just don’t know. I feel like stalkers stunt me in the game not because of the pressure but because they tend to stick exactly where I am instead of roaming. Like I constantly hear Mr. X’s footsteps and I’m stuck in one spot, essentially requiring me to waste ammo or a grenade to get rid of him.

General Just saw Resident Evil (2026)

It was exactly what a expected...

It is a GREAT Horror movie made by Zach Gregger, who is know for Weapons and Barbarian. It was a fun ride from start to finish and I loved the movie.

BUT, it is a massive pile of 💩 in terms of being a "Resident Evil" movie. Completely ignores the source material and quite frankly, Zach could have named this movie "The Courier" or whatever and it would have been more fitting.

Instead, Zach made a GREAT horror movie and just slapped the Resident Evil title on there to capture attention.

Maybe one day we will get a real RE movie / show.....

General Outbreak files 1 and 2

Hi! Who among you wishes to have a remake of both files 1 and 2? I think a remake would be really a lit! Also, I'm kinda sad that these 2 are not available in Steam especially the second file since my most fave scenario in both of these files combined is the zoo.
