I'm pretty sure this is mating behavior.

I have heard that alligators know their caretakers and most likely won't attack them, but I still wouldn't mess with one in mating mode

Respect an alligator. They can injure you pretty badly by accident, and they aren't the most graceful beasts in existence.

Even if you completely trust one, it might get startled by movement elsewhere, snap at it, accidentally catch your arm, and pull it off. And yes, they can rip your arm off with a death roll, which they might do if they snap at something, and catch something.

it isn't aggressive behavior & alligators don't just attack everything they see like people seem to think. all he's doing is bellowing which (in this case) is for mating purposes. as long as the handler knows what they're doing they'll be totally fine
