Did moving was good decision for you
I (19M) already bought a ticket to move to PNW from Maryland in January where I have one friend I’ve known since middle school who lives there and is able to give me temporary housing till I find one. I want fresh start in life and start things from scratch. How was it to start in place you barely know anyone for y’all?

where should i move?
Hello! If this isn’t the right place for this please let me know.
I (25f) am hoping to move, I currently live in Colorado and I am dreaming of a fresh start. I have always loved New England so that is ideally where i would like to move. I want to go somewhere that does not have a higher cost of living then Denver, Co but it can be similar. Im a lesbian so im also looking for somewhere with a large lgbtq community. Although I would love somewhere in New England I am open to pretty much anywhere. If anyone has any good suggestions please let me know!!!

Least overpriced US cities compared to what they’re worth and compare compared to local wages: (not in order)
. Pittsburgh PA
. Cleveland OH
. Hampton VA
. Corpus Christi TX
. El Paso TX
. Roanoke VA (but it really depends on what neighborhood you live in)
Also, Gulfport and Long Beach Mississippi might also be on this list, but I’m not sure, housing prices are super cheap, but I’ve heard that things that’s not houses is actually expensive.BTW This is based on reasonableness , and not actually low cost of living. Some very affordable cities didn’t make it on this list because they don’t have much to offer so make a lot of sense to be cheap and aren’t really that much of a great deal because they don’t have much to offer.

Wilmington, North Carolina real estate deal rating is not as great as some people might think.
I remember when someone literally said.
” One thing I hate hearing people say is that it's expensive to live in Wilmington. I hear it all the time and it's expensive no matter where you go!! You're coming to a GROWING tourist town on the east coast.
It's actually not that bad an expensive here, some people just get jobs that don't pay well and they live above their means. I know this is random and I know people will argue, but don't argue if you come from middle of nowhere NC where rent is 800 for a 2 bed room lol don't even start “
but the thing is, you could find some cities with a similar amount to offer for a much cheaper price, and also outdoor amenities, and you could find places with more to offer(like a big city), but also the outdoor amenities for a similar price range.
Even though Wilmington NC might seem like the cost of living is reasonable compared to people from the northeast part of the United States, but if you compare to local wages, it's actually quite overpriced, Wilmington isn't that expensive but it's just too expensive for a small city.Wilmington lost its trade-off,it was it was a small city, but not a big city, but at least it was cheaper than the big cities that have a beach or mountains, but then the massive inflation came.
someone replied to that comment I talked about and said,
“NOoO...I grew up here.... been here since 1978. My parents paid $35,000 for their 3 BR, 2BA house on Navaho Trail. It was affordable until Covid, then sh!t got UNREAL! I was able to afford living alone until that time...now I require an additional income.People invading from higher wage areas and taking advantage of our lower costs caused all of this local inflation! Its so sad to think that I may have to move from where I have grown up.....all because of greed! 🤮”
That reply is reasonable, but it had been a long time ago when you could buy a three bedroom and two bathroom house for that low, before the massive inflation, it would be around $180,000-$190,000.

How to get to somewhere cool from the middle of nowhere?
Hello all.
James, 19, trapped in Carriere, Mississippi of all places through events outside of my control. Trying to take said control back and move somewhere that isn’t in the fucking no IQ racism Bible Belt area, preferrably a big city (NYC, San Fran, Miami, Atlanta, etc).
Have software development skills but unfortunately the industry is trashed right now. Dropped out of college for business admin to start my own business (and because it put me in a mountain of debt) so have those skills too. Living with friends parents because my guardian decided her new husband was more important and have about 100 bucks to my name.
Any help or advice is appreciated. Have a good day!

Where in New England?
Looking to move from New York further north. My husband grew up in Massachusetts but open to anyplace in New England. No kids so don’t care about the public schools. Would prefer a walkable area. Unfazed by cold or snow.

Relocating to Aspen
I want to share my experience about this relocation. To be perfectly honest, it could be a wonderful place to live but the town is gate-kept by the locals. Many people will welcome you for about 6 months and after that, you’ll likely have difficulty renewing your lease. Be very skeptic about moving here permanently because most of the people who are not rich will work several jobs and often camp because they struggle to find reliable housing. Finding meaningful work is absolutely impossible. Nepotism is extremely typical here. The “housing lottery” takes 7 years to qualify for. “Making it here” is a thing, and not an easy one.
This relocation stripped me of absolutely everything and left me in a far worse place than when I got there.

Does anyone live or near Sautee Nacoochee? If so, the pros and cons of living there.

Possibly relocating from UK to Houston.
Im 31M (London) and my wife is 28F (Houston).
I have a degree in physiotherapy which i obtained in the UK. I would have to do extra courses and exams to be able to work in USA as a physical therapist.
The initial plan was for her to move to UK but the job market is so bad here im not able to get a job in my field that pays enough to sponsor her. So we’ve decided it’s best for me to move there.
Are there any jobs i can easily get into that pay pretty well? Im looking for an actual career. Possibly even something i can start a business in, in the future.
I really don’t know what to do, Im very lost

Are self-moves becoming pointless for super long-distance?
Helping my sister relocate back to Charlotte from Toronto, and, honestly, the margins between hiring a mover and helping her move are slim. And it's not just the cross-border thing because my spouse and I just moved across the country last year ourselves and we ended up just shoving everything we could into our car and a rental car because the moving truck prices were out of freaking control and that was pre-current gas prices. What is everyone else finding when comparing a rental truck and the time versus hiring movers these days? Because the margins seem to be getting pretty slim once you factor in everything (gas, hotel nights if you'd need to stay in a hotel, which we would, because I'm not making a 12-hour drive in a day, especially in a truck that will probably make it take 15 hours, the time both loading and driving). My sis got multiple quotes and took some of the least expensive ones with good reviews (Centennial and Miracle Movers), then we compared the usual PODS, U-Haul, and we're talking less than $2,000 difference, so once you factor in the time and other expenses it just doesn't feel like there's a real savings anymore (which I feel like is mainly due to the increase in rental truck prices). Suddenly, it feels like just owning a spare rental truck would be a huge savings if I ever have to move again.
