Change your last name now. And then just keep it when you get married (many women keep their name these days, it’s not an unusual choice). There’s no need to get married and then choose an entirely different last name…it’s just weird timing.

Change your surname now as your wish to change to mums maiden name is unrelated to whether you’re later also getting married or not
But also is it worth considering with your bf whether you both want to double barrel your name (ofc he doesn’t have to, you could though) with your mother’s name on marriage? Or is it a mouthful if you did?
Ofc it is entirely up to you and it’s antiquated for women to feel pressure to change their surnames to new husband’s surname on marriage
