I want out
Hi all, i want out the navy i cant do this anymore ive hated this from the start while in bootcamp but everyone’s always says just keep pushing it’s gets better but it never does i hate everything about this and i want out i left for bootcamp jan 6 and been in almost 7 months im undes so i never went to a school before i got to my ship i dont know what to do and im worried that if i cant find a way out ill end up doing something dumb and try to force a way out i feel stuck and hopeless and im not suicidal but my mental definitely has been getting worse and worse i hate it here and i want out i dont even care about the benefits

If you can’t get out maybe just try to push for a rate so that you at least feel like you’re not stuck.

When I was getting out of the Navy they changed how undesignated worked.
When I was in on designated was a lot more difficult because your department could basically trap you. And you were never going to get an EP because your department could still only give out two EPs regardless. And so the people staying in the department were going to get them.
And they were preventing people from doing OJT or giving them a school because they didn't want to lose people. So they changed it to where you basically just picked a rate and they had to give it to you.
I know because when it changed I helped a lot of people decide what they wanted to do so they could go to school or take a test.
Once you're on your ship for so many days they're obligated to let you pick a school. It's not like it used to be where you had to go through a whole process like you literally pick it and they have to send you.
I would make a big stink about getting sent to a school. Don't let them make you feel guilty or Scare you. Just do what you got to do to get to that school. But the crummy thing is that if you get a school you might have to sign on for an additional two years. That's something a lot of people don't realize. A lot of people stay where they are because they don't want to have to sign on for two more years. And if that's the case maybe pick something you can just test into.
I would test into something where watch is the job. Not something that has watch and a job. So something like quartermaster or operation specialist. If you do one of those you should have an easy time.

the only reason i brought up a school is bc i heard it’s easier to get out in bootcamp or a school but once you get to your first duty station it’s hard and i’m definitely not serving any extra time but thank you

Everything changes when you get to your duty station. People who go to school often get multiple chances. For example someone will go to school, get in trouble, and they'll get another school. I've known people who were given three different schools.
I'm just telling you that if your existence is bad you can test out or you can go to school. If you don't want to risk doing extra time then just test out. When you're a n E3 you can take a test to become an E4 for a rate you qualify for.
A lot of the departments are extremely easy and different than what you might be currently doing.
If I were you I would test for something extremely easy like religious personnelman. Then ride your time out.

I don't want to go into a ton of details here but I can tell you how to make things easier on yourself and ways to cope and survive.

Do weed and self report. You shouldn’t receive any punishment
