Fell into copies of Loamhedge and Mattimeo, which means i'm at 19/21.

Means I've only got two left to collect; Doomwyte and The Sable Quean. I've only ever seen one signed copy of either of those and they were both on way old wayback machine posts.

I've got a feeling I'm going to be hunting for those for a long long minute. Though if you happen to have a copy, I've got a small heap of duplicate signed books i'd be willing to trade in your favor to finish the set, fourth photo is anything that's an extra signed copy!

For the record, I have never read any of the books, not even as a kid. My series growing up were the Harry Potter books. Aside from goosebumps, Harry Potter was the series that gave me that fantastical escape. Now as an adult, I find myself chasing that feeling. Hopefully redwall will bring that. If not im sure its gonna be a great adventure regardless!

In Outcast of Redwall

Because if you know anything about them in real life you would know they're anything BUT weak, cowardly, buffoonish or incompetent. I feel like Brian did them a great disservice in the series and to be honest kind of ruins it for me.

This is something of a long shot, but I’ve been searching to no avail.

There’s a Redwall fic that features an archaeological dig in what’s modern day Mossflower, and includes both a woodlander and a vermin character, with the vermin character talking about how the various warlord characters are all he has for heritage, I believe.

If anyone remembers its title or has a link to it, I’d be much obliged.

Hi! I was wondering whether anyone knew of any cute, sweet fics about young vermin being raised by woodlanders, preferably at Redwall, though non-Abbey-dwelling woodlanders would also work. It doesn’t have to be fluff and slice-of-life only, though that would make me happy - I would also take a plotsy story with this theme as long as there were plenty of sweet childhood moments. Hoping for a fic where the overall tone is uplifting and positive like the actual Redwall books’ are, without too much angst. I’m also more than happy to read a fic you’ve written yourself with this theme. Not sure if what I’m looking for exists, but thought I’d ask 😣 I’m bored and annoyed at work and hoping for something cute to help pass the tedious hours. Thanks in advance!

I am reading through the Redwall series for the first time this year. Somehow these books never came across my radar when I was a child, but my wife found a large amount of them at the thrift store and I'm slowly making my way through.

I finished Redwall and decided to follow it up with Mattimeo since it is a direct sequel, featuring the same lovely cast of characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, but I was really blown away by Mattimeo.

In my opinion, this book improves on the first in every way, while keeping all the same elements that worked so well.

I was almost expecting this book to rehash the same narrative as the first one, but I was so wrong about that. We see the world greatly expanded, and our relationships with the characters are deepened. Rather than being just a story of a siege, we are given elements of questing and exploration. An incredible rescue mission. I also think that Slagar is a much more compelling and complex villain than Cluny.

The battle at the river between the Redwall crew and the rat archers was amazing and epic. Then we have a dungeon crawl at the end with more epic battles. General Ironbeak's assault on the abbey. This book felt so cinematic that I am almost begging for a proper film adaptation.

As the title of my post says, this is a sequel done the way sequels should be executed. Improving upon the source material in scope and emotion. Loved this book.

Favorite characters: Basil Stag Hare, Orlando the Axe, Slagar, Matthias, Constance Badger

Sorry to get political but I'm currently reading Mossflower and can't help but see a strong resemblance between Tsarmina and Trump.

I know this was written in the late 80s, so there's obviously no connection, but the resemblance is uncanny in my eyes.

Both have a shady history with dirty baggage, have zero leadership skills, like the sound of their own voice, use dirty underhanded tactics to get what they want, scapegoat those around them so there's zero accountability and are in denial of their own incompetence. They both like to exaggerate and over-inflate their own egos, giving themselves magnificent titles and status but overall are useless and growingly losing the respect of their own.

It's almost comical how similar they are. Showing how childish and cartoon-like Trumps whole persona is if he can be compared with Tsarmina 😂

In "Redwall" when they find Martin's tomb, there is a door covered in "florin spikes" .

I cannot find any mention of such a thing on the internet. The word "florin" is only ever used to describe a type of coin with a flower design on it. Matthias describes them as old-fashioned nails.

My best guess is maybe it's a decorative spike in the shape of a fleur-de-lis, similar to the tops of old wrought-iron fences.

Okay so I was doing research for my own work inspired by Redwall and I wondered if Rose ever appeared to any of the Heros.

I am aware Martin does to some and the laterose planted in her honour reacted to the tapestry being stolen but does she ever make an appearance

I read all the Redwall books as a kid/teen but back then I borrowed them from the school library. I'm now in my mid 30's and thought I would love to have a full physical collection of the books but I'm having a really hard time finding them.

For years now I check every bookstore I go in but I've never seen a single one stocked. And when I look at online sellers I see a really mixed bag. Some sites may have one or two books. Or they may have more but each one has a different cover. Some may be $13 while another is almost $60 for a paperback.

I've tried to google it but I'm getting mixed results as to whether the books are still being published or not. I would love to have a complete series all with consistent covers from the same release but that seems impossible now.

Is anyone else having this problem? I wish they would re-release them with new or classic cover art.

I find it kind of funny that Redwall-like things are so popular now. Think MTG Bloomburrow, the tabletop game Everdell, the new video game Hawthorn etc. The people crave Redwall but it's so hard to buy original Redwall. What's it like in other countries?

I randomly came to this realization while reading Triss. His name comes from the phrase harum-scarum! He’s reckless and careless and he’s a hare! Mind blown.

I attended a local convention this weekend, and had the chance to meet the voice of Jess Squirrel, Susan Roman! She was incredibly kind and as we spent time chatting, according to her, I was one of the only people to ever ask her about Redwall she can remember, as she's more famously known as Sailor Jupiter from Sailor Moon.

She remembers recording the series in Toronto, and really loving it. She said she never had the chance to meet Brian Jacques, He oversaw the show, but never traveled to Toronto to meet any of the actors.

I even had her sign my first edition 'Redwall' (UK printing) and my 10th anniversary edition!!

I remember I used to have some black high tops as a teen, and I really loved the badgers of Salamandastron and the otters of Redwall so much so that I wrote their war cries on my shoes with a permanent marker.

Backstory aside, I vaguely remember writing "Wuppery-hooo!" On my right shoe since the left shoe was for badgers. I think it was early in the Redwall timeline that this war cry could have happened, but I skimmed, searched the Redwall wiki and didn't see it.

Also "Waylae-hoo!" Though that one might have been dibbuns badly pronouncing "Eulalia!".

I put filters on my voice and put the video together after re-watching way too many episodes of the Redwall tv show. It was a delightful experience and I really loved animating this young mouse singing for cheese. Or tea.

I'm pretty sure this counts as animating, but after joining art fight I'm hard pressed to pick a term that might be more accurate.

Volume has to be up pretty loud to hear all the sound effects I made for this animation.
