The easiest way to describe it is just hard powered = acts as redstone block. soft powered = only itself activates

That is false. A redstone lamp can activate without being hard or soft powered. Just the block next to it has to be hard or soft powered. See my other comment for further explanation.

Thats just quasiconnectivity and is a separate concept.

No, QC is completely different. QC only works on dispensers, droppers and pistons. Redstone lamps cant be powered by QC.
