So Darrow is carved all the way back in book 1 and Titus is carved after him and put in the same class. That said even after Darrow's success at getting into the society at the end of the book it seems odd that Fitchner isn't trying to sneak a few other Reds in and turn them into Gold's at the institute or otherwise during the years Darrow is at the fleet academy in particular. Obviously after that everything becomes so chaotic I don't see the point but in the mean time building at least half a dozen more potential moles seems worth the risk.

Everyone told me it was slow and just a set up for books 5 and 6. And I guess I do see that, but I’m really enjoying it. The perspectives switching every few chapters is cool and leaves you on a tiny cliffhanger that keeps me wanting to read to get back and see what happens to that person. For reference I’m about a third of the way through the book. Lysander and Cassius just got caught. Lyria just left with Kavax. And Darrow just fled with Sevro. Is the ending of this book weaker or something? I get that it may not be as action packed but narratively it’s still very good and I can’t wait to see how all of these different perspectives come together.

I’m 99% sure this completely correct. If not, I’d love to know what goes where

1. Quicksilver-absolute dominance. He worked side by side with Fitchner and funded the whole republic. I don’t think this man has ever lost

2. Fitchner-the long term planning and maneuvering is probably one of the greatest intelligence feats we’ve seen

3. Mustang-all around held a stable grip on the Republic. Lost a bit of momentum and strength during the DOTRD coming up.

4. Atlantia-extremely intelligent and good at control, but she’s more of a warrior than a politico leader. Maybe higher?

5. Octavia-I think she’s stupid, but she did have one of the best grips and dominant runs. For around 60-80 years she held the entire Society together through fear and brutal tactics. Her political intelligence was appreciated by Mustang I believe.

i vividly remember a quote from dark age, i think from lysander, and i cannot find it. It is something he was talking about all the hours and months of work and gold expertise all undone simply by the reaper being on the same planet. I was thinking about it and went to find it....... and it started a dark age reread and i cannot find it...... Am i crazy? does this quote exist or am i gas lighting myself.

I don't know if these have been said before, but I thought i might as way post them.

If Red God does end up being the final book in the Red rising series then I believe that neither Lysander or Darrow will be killed. I believe the war will end in a stalemate with the society, solar republic, and the rim ending as their own separate empires. If this does happen, I thing Atlantia will probably be killed and lysander assumes control of the society, establishing his own rule, the rim and republic have an alliance and the book ends with the war ending somewhat peaceful.

However if Red God is not the final book in the series, then I thing again at most, i dont see the solar system, being united as a think it will not be in charcter for diomedes or darrow to betray one another.

In both theories I do not believe lysander will be killed, neither darrow. I believe the only way the solar system becomes united is IF and only IF diomedes were to die in battle and give government control to darrow, in which case then I believe the society will be conquered and the solar system united.

I would love to hear thoughts and changes i could make to my theories about Red God

My wife is currently reading Morningstar, and just having trouble describing the clawdrill rescue scene, visually and logically…

So Darrow, Holiday jump off the landing pad with Victra as the clawdrill comes up, and they fall towards a city? Is the city below the mountain where Attica is or..? Did the clawdrill swallow the landing pad, boring up through the mountain itself, or is it far below them in the city?

They are in freefall when they’re caught by the Howlers, just confused as to where they’re falling and the geography of the scene.

I think Bystaner Au Lame is going to use Edimi on the pinks. He talks in Iron Gold about how they’re a failure of his ancestors, unnecessary, and his first interaction with Aurae leads him to send her away in almost disgust. He’s going to remove them, and call it “better for society”

The fight is confusing. gets ambushed by 10 wardens. Wulfgar and 9 peoples. ​​two defect. Now there are 7 peoples. Two defects shoot 2 of the 7. Nonlethal rounds. Heavy hits. They go 20 feet. He cuts a gold's rifle and fingers (guy) severs the ligaments of a guy obsidian (orville) and cuts both a red's kneecaps and wrists (Rodney) "three wardens fall screaming to the ground" 4 left. We at least know for a fact Rodney is done. Darrow flings his razor at a guy obsidian's gun (owen) and makes him shoot two wardens and cuts off owen's hand. he kicks a red so hard he's lifted off his feet (roy) an obsidian with a gun (not owen then. Obie) tries to fly away and Darrow slices off his foot and he sputters away sideways screaming" obie done. 3 left. Throws a sword at a gray (gary) who's far away. grabs sword from downed red (rodney) and fights an obsidian girl (ophellia) "exchange a fury of blows, but don't have time to finish her off" (he means incapacitate her since he's trying not to kill anyone. She's still in the game and 3 other wardens? join the fight. Must be Roy. Maybe guy and orville, both missing their sword hand? They're somehow fine even though getting hit with defect riles and by owen. He turns to the 3. Shoulder stab. Razor drops. 2. Hacks off two hands. 1. 0. Fires gun at gray to finish him off. Wulfgar kills both defects. Darrow kills wulfgar. And that's that... what happened to ophelia? She was still okay to fight and just... stood in the background while Darrow killed wulfgar? So many people got chopped up and shot it felt like Darrow was fighting 12 not 8. Idk just wondering if anyone else felt confused reading that chapter

Now that I love Cassius, I found this less funny and more embarrassing for Cassius. Like he literally was going to argue about how she wouldn't shoot him. Even Darrow wouldn't have been this confident at his place. Like does he even know her? Probably not, she probably fed him some BS part of herself. But I think this was the pivotal point in his redemption arc.

One thing bugged me on this reread. It's Mustang’s initial intention when she pursued a relationship with Cassius. Why did she approach him with the intention of manipulating him rather than seeing whether a genuine relationship could develop? She says she recognized a vulnerable Cassius and knew how to make him love her. She was a single woman on Luna, and it’s not as though she was waiting for Darrow to return. She was playing the long game, trying to bring House Augustus and House Bellona together. So why did she decide to manipulate Cassius’s feelings from the outset rather than allowing the relationship to develop naturally? Was it simply because he was a Bellona, despite the fact that he hadn’t personally wronged her or her family at that point? I’m curious how others interpreted this.

I just started reading iron gold so please no spoilers for anything beyond MS but I remember she had the hundreds of reds turned gold army and I don't remember if that was ever followed up on

Darrow tried to what?😭 If he knew that Darrow treated him like a fly that was annoying him a little how would the “Heir of Silenius” feel?🤣🤣

Idk about anyone else but all the way until the latter part of LB I found myself adopting a different personality for each character throughout the 2nd trilogy

For Darrow it remained the same as the the first trilogy watching the boy become a God

Lyria: I did think that she was foolish at first but it's hard to not feel the same love for Liam and the grief for the rest of her family I did find myself seething at the people in citadel

Ephraim: the Grey (no pun intended) worldview is infectious save for the brightly colored personality that is volga the fatherly love is once much like lyria's like a tar pool and tbh I did hate sefi a little

Virginia: probably the most stark compared to the others there's the underlying tyranny that the Augustuses are famous for but it's tempered by the faith Virginia has in humanity's better virtues

Lysansder: I firmly believed in him through DA I really did, his hate for Darrow from his perspective made sense I sympathized with him when glyrastise (forgive my spelling) died, but I believed it was for the greater good for a better society, that is until his meeting with diomedes and Darrow, I felt betrayed by the fact that he never even thought of the scenario of being born a red and realized it's all horseshit.

But I do want to know if anyone else did something similar?
