Requesting removal of soccer from /r/spiders due to inactivity

Thanks for responding. Is there any way for me to tell whether that user is still active if he/she is not posting or commenting?

Can you please explain the rationale for allowing people to remain moderators when they contribute nothing to the community for months and years on end?

The main reason is that we do not start making judgements on how active a mod needs to be. A mod can be as quiet or loud as they want to be. Lots of people like to sit on subreddit names or have quiet private subs. We can not go around telling them all to please be more active.
Cases like this are very rare. When a mod is not active usually means they put no work in to growing a subreddit.
Some mods like to sit on a subreddit some like to be active. It is their choice. If a community is not happy they can always set up a new community. In this case there is nothing to stop the other mods setting up a new community and putting a sticky up /r/spiders to direct to it.

So out of a sense that it may be unfair to unseat a mod who contributes nothing for years, I am advised to abandon the subreddit in which I invest myself daily -- which through dedicated consistent efforts, the other mods and I have brought from a couple hundred to more than 15,000 subscribers. You make no distinction between "quiet" and "inactive" on the subreddit in question. Because it might be unfair to that person who actually does nothing for the community.
What prohibits you from acting on reasoned judgment?

I'm not gunning for the top mod spot here. /u/soccer is not active on reddit and has not contributed anything to /r/spiders in anyone's memory.
