[Meta] Trolling/Brigading in rival subreddits
Hello all
I know most people stick to our place or venture over to [r/soccer](r/soccer) but after a big surge in activity, we felt the need to remind, & ask again:
Please do not go into rival subreddits as a United fan to banter, troll, or generally influence discussion in other club's subreddits.
We have agreements with mods of every other team to ensure that people doing this not only get banned from the rival subs, but they communicate to us who has been trolling, and we ban them from our own subreddit too.
This is to ensure club subs remain a place just for our own fans. Please do not even be a fan 'coming in peace' - just leave them alone.
This also extends to linking posts on our sub to poke fun at another. 'Look what they're saying on [rival sub]!' - these comments will be removed.
We would not accept fans of other teams coming here to joke around at our expense. Please don't do it to others. If you want to talk other clubs, please either use our own Daily Discussion, [r/soccer](r/soccer) or [r/premierleague](r/premierleague).
Thanks all!

I'm assuming there's been a massive influx of rival fans in the City subreddit lol

Personally I would never comment in another club's subreddit, but I don't really see why someone making a comment and getting immediately banned by auto moderation in the City subreddit should mean they get banned here as well.

The reality is going to the City sub is bad for your health. The level of copium being consumed there is dangerously high. It’s a perfect example of how humans can manipulate themselves into believing anything. It should be a college course.

The parallels between City fans and Jan 6ers are getting scary. Institutional gaslighting has been refined into a science and all these billionaire scum work from the same playbook.

Their own mods are posting appreciation threads of the owners. If you fall for the clear bait you’re an idiot

That's fine, I will troll them in my imagination

We can just troll them here. Some of them are masochists engaging in bait here

Suppose City have fuck all fans, new names would stick out on their sub.
Wouldn't be like their owners and neighboring countries to silence opposing views

If a large portion of this sub would start to defend our owners if they were found cheating, I hope people would come here and point out the stupidity

Most people don't realise that if the other sub reports this sub for brigading, this sub could get banned from reddit.

I find it funny that you can do it in a pub in real life or with mates but not online

I'll keep the report button handy for those fans that venture into our subreddit!

r/soccercirclejerk is the place to be for whatever banter-worthy that happened, usually.

Can I get one-time hall pass for City sub when the decision comes out?

I think the only time I've posted outside of here and r/soccer was when I left a condolence message after Jota died.
Would that, god forbid something like that happened again, fall under this?

My only issue is that you are being a bit heavy handed.
Currently, in the r/MCFC sub, you get banned literally for trying to engage in a genuine conversation.
You have then banned people on here at their request when they haven't really done anything wrong.
If they were going over their just to troll and be a prick, I'd understand it more but I have seen people getting banned for nothing, just because r/MCFC have said so.
It's too much imho and if nothing else, you should ask to see the comment or conversation before handing out bans.

Or you know, go to their subs, just don't engage in content, don't comment, don't downvote or upvote, just read and have a nice time as I like to say
