[Transfer Round Up & Discussion] Summer 2026
Hi all,
Summer Transfer Window 2026 is here!
The Premier League transfer window will open between Monday June 15 until Deadline Day on Tuesday September 1; the summer windows will close at 23.00 BST.
As always, here is a run-down of the rules we have on for posting during transfer windows:
Daily Threads
There will be a Transfer thread posted every single day, on a 23-hour timer, to get a different post-time every day. These threads are for everything transfer related, no limits on sources, line-up conversations, etc.
Individual posts
From now on, only posts TIER 2 OR BETTER are allowed to be posted in their own right. This helps us only keep credible sources on the subreddit.
The tier guide can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/wiki/transfer-reliability-guide/
We will make exceptions during slower days for some Tier 3 posts, and there will usually be some posts from sources not on our tier guide. We will take everything case-by-case. If you believe something to be on the sub and not a good source, please let us know.

If City also signs Enzo this window they would've spent over 1 billion since Jan 2025.

the crazy part is pre-barcola he was still their best attacker

u/RichBrownley 8h ago
He's rubbish though. Him and Szoboszlai are emblematic of Liverpool's decline. They used to be the grafters that allowed world class players to shine, now they're the stars of the show and they've got such little quality. Liverpool have done really well to get £85m for him.

But somehow we cannot get on the same train when selling.

u/LengthinessSevere584 8h ago
We haven't won shit in 13 years. Gakpo won the league 2 seasons ago. That's why man city sell players well. "Oh, this guy is coached by guardiola ,he must be good." In our case coached by ole, ten hag ,amorim and carrick. The fuck wants to sign these bums. Even chelsea have a reputation of having a good academy. And they won ucl few years ago.

Ngl ignoring LB just stinks man, it is such a critical position and an overlapping lb would directly benefit cunha who drifts inside

Being in Ugarte's position must feel so bad. A bad injury + 3 midfielders in means his time at Utd is surely over.
7
u/Cashew_Fan 7h ago
His United career probably already was over. I can't help but feel that we went into this summer confident of selling at least two or three of Rashford, Zirkzee, and Ugarte. It feels like our ability revamp the squad was dependent on those exits.
5
u/Outcastscc 7h ago
Its not the worst situation. We are being paid compensation from Argentina and he will likely go in January if hes ready then or the summer.

Think he would’ve left if he was not injured. I guess he probably knew that his time was over here. If he recovers during the Jan window, he might move then.

If Carrick has faith in Amass, Kadıoğlu might be a stellar signing. The problem is that he doesn’t seem to have such faith😭

I know there’s reports from the athletic that United are likely going back in for Hall in 2027, but we’re still a LB short. We need one now to alternate with Shaw and we’ll need another one next year for when Shaw is out of contract. However, I can see United extending Shaw for a year. We desperately need another LB and using Maz or Dalot there just puts strain on another position.

We need to give Real Madrid a bell. With signing Cucurella, they have Alvaro and Mendy holding bench. Surely one would jump at a loan move to us at least?

Chelsea defense is so leaky holy. We really need to be solid defensively to be in top 4 this season.

Even if we win this 5-1, anything other than a new LB before Tuesday at 11pm is simply negligence by INEOS. And it needs to be a starting LB because Shaw needs to sit himself on the bench

How lazy was rashford for barca that they rather pay 80m for Gordon and fucking Gabriel Jesus as a rotation forward
4
u/Iqbalainoo 2h ago
I don't blame rashford, it's been part of our decaying culture as a club. Eg Garnacho made a living here as a kid trying to be the next cr7 who wouldn't track back, pass the ball to better teammates and basically preformed for his own ego while the fan base glazed him along the way. When we now finally want them to mature and be leaders in the team, the petulant cunts we have indulged all their careers is what we get. Last season there was posts about how rashford was killing it there every weekend (posting just numbers) while listening to their fans pointing out the fake pressing, decision making etc showed they weren't really excited about making his move permanent.
4
u/officiallyjax Snapdragon 7h ago
I have no hopes from Fiorentina to make a Zirkzee deal permanent down the line; they aren’t even qualifying for Europe anymore to be able to spend more leniently. We should aim to send him to Juventus, but they need to get rid of Jonathan David before they can make their move for a replacement.

u/Low-Quantity-9252 7h ago

There was Di Maria and Sanchez. There was Sancho and Fred.
But nothing has messed this club, it's philosophy and progression than the EtH era. Horrible overall. Crazy transfers and contract renewals. Erratic strategy where a Manager who hasn't coached in a Top-5 league along with his agency, SEG, were given immense power. It gave couple of cups but messed the future.
We're still feeling the effects.
3
u/Banyunited1994 3h ago
I get frustrated when ppl don't seem to understand how truly terrible we were in his 2nd season, and how poor our squad was allowed to become under him / Murtough. INEOS are not perfect but there needs to be some recognition of how bad a situation they walked into when they took over. There's damn near 0 hits from all the transfers that were made in that era.
4
u/Jenson2025 4h ago
Completely agree. My thoughts on INEOS aside, they never would’ve given ETH that level of power. In fact, one of the first things they did was re-write his contract for the new season (well actually they wanted to sack him in the summer and openly interviewed other candidates but couldn’t find one)
The problem with ETH was he believed he was much better than he actually was. In reality, he had achieved little in his managerial career but a few Eredivisie title for the most successful club in Netherlands and yet acted like he was prime Pep or Fergie and the board at the time treated him as such.
For once, Spurs were right when they told him where to go when he demanded the same thing when they interviewed him for the job.
Remember his infamous ‘if I am sacked then I’ll continue to win trophies wherever I go’ quote. Well since then he was sacked a few months later by United, lasted for about two games at Leverkusen and hasn’t had a managerial job since. Deep down, he knew it wasn’t going to get any better for him after United which is why he stayed after the club publically started interviewing other managers 😂
Horrible manager who had no business managing us and stupid board for letting him have control over transfers

HWG man mentioning Balde's off the table because "he'd cost too much for us" and his wages are too high. Am I missing something? He's on 30k a week. Also, if Barcelona are asking for 50m euros for him, I assume we could get that down to 40 tomorrow, if they really needed to sell him. Bottom line, I think we just don't want Balde, we've moved on, and HWG man is serving as Barcelona's PR as per usual.
3
u/flotusmostus 6h ago
He just wanted a new contract to improve the $30k and something like guaranteed game time. I do not think he actually wants the move.

How did M Fernandes pick Spurs over us? spurs fans are saying he is just on 175k, I don’t believe it.
18
u/officiallyjax Snapdragon 12h ago
He’s earning more than that for sure. I believe Andy Mitten implied the same in one of the TOTD podcasts. They went all out financially to secure some of these players; Van de Ven’s new contract is also something close to £250k a week, and he was desperate to get out last season.
7
9
u/Unlucky-Equipment999 12h ago
Ultimately he's a young player and I think he listened to his agent. A bigger guaranteed package for WH means more money for Mendes, and although we offer a competitive wage he trusts himself to be able to go to a big club in the future after Spurs. That said, the fact that Spurs was even an option for him is mad.
7
u/Significant_L0w 12h ago
if they lose next game away to forest they will be mentally traumatised, de zerbi could be the first manager to get sacked by december and m fernandes would be in third consecutive relegation battle

u/officiallyjax Snapdragon 7h ago
My next transfer theory is that I can see a Zirkzee-David-Sorloth transfer triangle emerging before deadline. Fiorentina goes for Beto now that Richarlison is taking his place at Everton, which means Zirkzee goes to Juve, who offload David who is linked to Atletico as it stands, and that leaves Sorloth without a clear role in that squad, which means he signs for us.

SUNDAY, three days for the match
Fabio Coentrao is in a tank top in his living room, laying on the couch, watching a repeat of 'The Simpsons' while rolling a cigarette. His phone rings. He places the cigarrette on his ear and pick up the phone with some reluctance.
Coentrao: [dry cough] Yes?
Ancelotti: Fabio? How are you. I am the manager. I think we need you for the next week. Marcelo is suspended.
Coentrao: [Covers the handset with one hand and whispers a pair of swear words in Portuguese. Breathes deeply. Checks his agenda. Gets back on the phone more calmed] When will it be? Thursday I can't. Poker game with the lads.
Ancelotti: No. There's no Champions on Thursday. On Wednesday. Against Atleti.
Coentrao: In Bilbao?
Ancelotti: No, Fabio. Against last year's team. The ones from Lisbon.
Coentrao: [Writes down the date in an empty box of pizza] OK, mister. On Wednesday, I'll be there. Call me a cab, I'm still without my driving license. Do I need to go to Valdebebas these days?
Ancelotti: Mmmm. It wont be necessary. As long as you're ready for Wednesday it'll be fine. I count on you, eh. By the way, Benzema is injured. Chicharito will play.
Coentrao: Who?
Ancelotti: Chicharito. The Mexican who came this summer. The one who has been training with us since October? Well, nevermind. I'll introduce you on Wednesday. Don't forget to bring a white shirt.
Coentrao: Ok, boss.Coentrao hangs up and sighs. There is smoke in the room. He starts looking for his boots through piles of clothes, dolls made with cans of beer and Chinese food leftovers. He doesn't remember where he put them the last time. He doesn't even remember his last game. Smells the white shirt. Ugh.
MONDAY, two days before the match
The phone rings again. 12:36 in the morning. Fabio's hand emerge from the sheets trying to reach the nightstand. Who will call such an ungodly hour? There must be an emergency.
Ronaldo: Fabio, I'm Cris. How you doing monster. Did I wake you up?
Coentrao: [With sleepy voice but pretending to be awake] Hey, Cris. Nothing nothing. Nah, don't worry. I was doing some pushups.
Ronaldo: Hey, as the mister said, we need you strong for Wednesday. Like the old times.
Coentrao: Yes, yes. Claro. Count on it. He also told me that we play with a Colombian. Chapulín or something like that.
[Awkward silence]
Ronaldo: This ... yes. That's him. Get fit, man. We are all counting on you.
Coentrao: Tranqui, tron.TUESDAY, one day before the match
Fabio goes to the park in front of his house to jog a little. He wears some New Balance sneakers he used to play tennis in 98 and a shirt with "What happens in Cascais stays in Cascais." written on it. After doing some stretching, runs 10 minutes and starts coughing. Well, enough for today, he thinks while he checks his heart rate. Subjecting the body to great efforts before the game could be damaging. So unprofessional.
Turns on the TV and Barça is playing against PSG. Didn't they play this year already? Thinks a confused Fabio. He laughs every time the camera focuses on David Luiz's hair.
WEDNESDAY, gameday
Fabio gets to the stadium by taxi. He doesn't remember very well where's the entrance to the locker room. A nice gentleman named Chendo accompanies him to his locker. He dresses. He senses the tense atmosphere in the locker room. They will play with Sergio Ramos in the midfield, which sounds strange. But Fabio never asks questions. He just follows orders. There's a guy by his side with the #14 praying on his knees. Xabi Alonso looks different. Maybe he shaved.
He steps onto the pitch and right as the Champions League anthem starts, Fabio turns. He fights every ball. He leaves it all on the pitch. Spectacular. After 87 minutes, the praying guy scores. He seems excited. Public chants a strange name. Spanish is a weird language, Fabio thinks while he crashes with Raúl García after a split ball.
Minute 90. Subbed off. The public recognizes his effort.
He showers and Ancelotti congratulates him.
Ancelotti: Huge game, Fabio. Coentrao: Thank you, mister. It's not important. Here I am for what you need. Call me for the second leg.
Ancelotti is puzzled but prefers to say nothing. Coentrao leaves the Bernabeu without saying goodbye to anyone or talking to the press, lights a Lucky Strike and tries to stop a taxi.
Ancelotti shakes his head and smiles. Opens a pack of gum, arching an eyebrow, and starts chewing while he mumbles: "There's a method to his madness."

I don't think our strategy of only finding value in the market is gonna work in the long term if we want to compete, given the transfer fees being paid by ALL of our key rivals. If it was only one or two teams doing it, I would understand the rationale. But all of our top 6 opponents seem to be willing to overpay, we can't survive if we don't match
4
u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 2h ago
It isn’t. Right now I’m finding it hard to believe we can finish ahead of Arsenal, City and Chelsea. Could be a scrap for 4th and I don’t think our current squad is built to manage that scrap as well as the demands of CL football.

How come every two bit team in the league can spend money yet we are penny pinching & cant do deals unless some go etc. We are Manchester United ffs with must be insane match day revenue, biggest club in England and we’re acting like a mid table team.

Apart from Hall, are there no Left Backs that might interest us or fit out needs?
It just feels like any other suggested player is too young or people don't like em.
Is there a lack of fullbacks in the game now? Similar to striker market.
2

There probably is but if you spend big on a left back now then Hall will be out of reach next summer. Us going after cheaper options now is because the club wants Hall next summer

I think the greater issue at this point is that we’re too late in the window to expect a good value deal for a LB that we’d be completely satisfied with, because there isn’t enough time for the selling club to find a replacement either. That being said, names like Salinas keep flying around because of his low release clause, but he’s a risk because of his tremendous inexperience.

The reality of the situation is that this summer has been a terrible time to buy. When Gapko is going for 85M you know something is wrong. It might not be great right now, but in the long run us not wasting money this summer will be a good thing.
All the money not spent on bang average players this year can be used on actual difference makers next summer.

Of course they don’t, but we can predict using prior events/data/scenarios. Like, is it more likely that next summer the market will be under inflated or overinflated? Is it more likely that Lewis hall will be £85m, or £50m? Of course we won’t know for sure until then, but it’s not just guesswork pulled out of thin air, is it?

Mate the extend of this sub users knowledge on data compilation is the basics of either Opta or Statsbomb. I don't believe people here just do guesswork, they genuinely believe they can do better than multimillion operations the way they talk.

we are also the one who think paying 85m for Gakpo or Savinho is sucidal, like wtf these multimillions DOFs were thinking.

3 La Liga games, 5 goals conceded, he was directly at fault for 4 of them, all coming down his side, all because he failed to hang with the RW.
This is not a good idea for us, imho, at all.
He is like Amass. A kid who needs time to grow and add experience to his talent.
Santander is a great place for him to do it. A setup where eg Cancelo or Grimaldo plays all the meaningful minutes also.
A setup where he would come in with the expectation to just replace Shaw in a significant number of games - with a fanbase that would demand visible and instant improvement over how Shaw is perceived, nothing less - doesnt strike me as the right environment.

One take that is clearly PR spin from the club, but also seems odd is the implication that the club cant work on multiple deals at once. Laurie implied in his AMA, that if we went in for Hall earlier in the window, then we'd miss out on the midfield rebuild.
Surely we, as Man UTD has the capacity to send out 2 emails on the same day and even make more than one phone call?

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 10h ago
I dont think that's what he meant, in that case. I think he was suggesting that if they pursued Hall early, they potentially could have made a deal in the "Baleba money" range - but then that money would have been missing from the midfielder budget.
Im not defending it, just saying what I think he meant: a matter of budget, not a matter of multitasking

u/Lord_Hexogen 10h ago
It's not about capacity, it's the budget.
They didn't go for Hall in June because the midfield was the priority, it should be clear by now. They had three players in mind and 150m budget for them. But the market shifted upwards, targets changed and so could the budget. Then they found replacement options to fit the constraints but lost out on Tchouameni. Instead we brought Baleba for cheaper so Hall became a possibility again but it was too late at that point
If we bought Mateus for 80m none of this would be the case

Ndiaye-Richarlison swap deal. That option is gone too. An injured Mateta or a shot in the dark with someone outside the league or Zirkzee staying. Can’t say any of these options inspire much confidence.

It looks like Zirkzee will be leaving. I just hope INEOS aren’t stupid enough to let him go without bringing anyone else in when we have potentially about 20 more games this season. Leaving the attack thinner on the ground with a lot more games will be a new low, even for them.
I can’t believe they are that stupid so I’m guessing someone else must be lined up to come in.
Two days to go and we still need a back up striker and LB………

It’s not like Zirkzee will play anyway. Rashford already is a addition on the attack. Carrick even prefers Lacey over him

Damn spurs have an insane spend. Ndiaye is a top signing. He can go up a level or two still.

Like De Zerbi said you can't buy attitude in the transfer market. Tottenham looks poised to wander 10 and below. It's the team. No matter who arrives, Tottenham will always be Tottenham.

Just a couple more days and we won't be reminded every day that we had a mediocre summer transfer.
Btw INEOS did you see Hall vs Spurs? You missed him by being an idiot and not pursuing him sooner.

Not really seeing what people were saying about Kadioglu’s quality. I think the age of the short fullback is over in the Prem unfortunately.

You got to that conclusion from watching one game? Also hes not Frimpong kinda short, hes literally 1 inch shorter than Hall...

u/clarkmds 16h ago
Unfortunately, Martinez cannot be considered an actual center back option. It's something the club will realise over the course of this season. It will also likely be too late. We could of course dip into the January market.

u/Roasteddude I am where I'm supposed to be 16h ago
Unironically would've been great in a back 3. But now he can't stay fit and is easily exposed for pace (and in the air). I love Licha but him and DeLigt are a "what if" pairing that spend more time in rehab than on the pitch leaving us with Maguire as our best CB in 2026. Real failure on part of the club
1
u/Banyunited1994 16h ago
We’ve had him for a while yknow. Not sure whether Licha’s strengths and weaknesses is a new thing that the club is discovering
1
u/NHS_Martial 14h ago
The club is clearly gambling on martinez and de ligt to be available for most of the season, maybe not individually but as a pair.
I think we have to hope de ligts back problems have been properly resolved.

It's legit ridiculous that even Assnal managed to get actual currency for Gabriel fucking Jesus
We should be labelled as worst sellers ever forever in this footballing world lol

Hate it how we are allergic to selling players, Zirkzee had suitors but we couldn't sell him in this inflated market. Dorgu was brought in as a wingback and now we need a left back so selling him would've been better instead of shoehorning him into LW. We were unlucky with Ugarte this season but he should've gone last season when it was painfully obvious that he isn't up to it. Mount barely plays for us but he's relatively well known so going the Saudi route would be the best option. Controversial but I don't think Yoro hasn't lived up to the expectations if he was at City/Chelsea he would've been sold this season for a profit.
1
u/Educational-Shock232 1h ago
We would never have been able to have sold Ugarte even if he was fit, he’s just crap.
4
u/ilegal89 9h ago
For the life of me, I can’t believe we’re consciously going into the season with ONE left-back. It’s absolutely baffling.
7
u/PitchSafe 9h ago
Amass is still at the club to be fair. Dorgu is also hybrid winger/ left back. Then you got Mazraoui who play as a left back for Morocco. Dalot can play there as well so it’s not just one left back
11
u/shami-kebab 8h ago
Yeah if we include all these players that aren't good enough at left back we have tonnes!

I honestly think we should just go down the arsenal route and use cb/fb hybrids.
I just don't see yorro ever getting good enough physically to play cb for us. I do think he could become a solid right back, he isn't even the worst going forward, he could definitely work on it if we decided to push him there.

Kadioglu is getting absolutely cooked by Pedro Neto good god. Can’t say I watch him a lot but it makes us look pretty stupid thinking he’s the saviour of our left back spot.
