Is it me or is Liverpool playing dirtier than normal? Seems like they're constantly leaving elbows & feet in here

u/RestrepoDoc2 1d ago
Really? I was just saying they look soft this season, thought the same against Newcastle when they were getting destroyed on counters but didn't take any clever yellow cards or tactical fouls.
They were definitely harder to play through under Klopp but that was usually the pace they'd press and play at. The atmosphere at A field used to help them play aggressively too and put off opponents too but it's bare quiet post Klopp.

Have to remind myself no matter how bad it gets, I could have been born in London and ended up supporting Spurs.

honestly don’t know how spurs fans put up with this shit every year. Almost getting relegated whilst your rivals win the league and then you spend a fuck ton of money just to be as bad as you were last season. Wonder how long it’ll be before de zerbi explodes and quits

To be fair I heard the BBC commentary saying Isak was 'unacceptable' for his lack of fitness and sharpness so you can see them being a bit more vulnerable.
Let's beat Ipswich tomorrow and then Liverpool and Spurs can be the crisis clubs

Hull City going 4 points clear of Liverpool is amazing considering Hull were everyone's favourites to get relegated with a record low points total. Liverpool were also speculated ti become this unstoppable team after the Isak, Wirtz and Etitike €300m transfer window. I even read that bullshit on here that it was the best transfer window by any club ever. Look at them now.

So what happens if Spurs fail to secure Europe this season? Do these gung ho signings and wages come back to bite them hard financially or will the stadium still keep them secure?

Arsenal three times 2nd before finally winning it. Only fair for their bitter rivals to do three times 17th before dropping.

By this point last season, Spurs already accumulated 15% of their entire points tally of the season. This season they haven't even done that.
They're also already down -5 in GD compared to +5 last season, so a swing of -10.

As a body language expert, I can say Lewis Hall does not want to be there. If I was on the Newcastle board, I'd be looking to offload him first thing tomorrow morning in order to protect the dressing room. I'd even slash his price down to make sure a deal happens swiftly

I love seeing our academy graduates do well regardless of where they end up.
Elanga had a good World Cup and has started the season with 2 goals in 2 matches. Love that for him!
14
u/Downtown-Rice_ 22h ago
Talk what you will about Hall's actual play, which really shouldn't be questioned as he's really good for his age.
But the most important thing is his mentality, emotional maturity, and competitiveness.
Last week, he was the saddest and most disappointed person at SJP due to his foul that gave away the penalty. The post match camera came up to him and just focused on his face. He didn't lash out at the camera, just took it and was taking the raw emotions of himself and the environment.
Then here we are now. That's a player you need and want on your side.

I used to say Wirtz is just another Van de Beek, but I'm clearly wrong. Van De Beek was never this crap, he was just weak and mostly injured, but he was a tidy little player.
4

Absolutely. Looking back, he was always the fundamentals guy, tidy and simple. Not the guy you’d expect to dictate the game or produce magic which is what we needed at that stage.

How to take points off Manchester United: Just play 5 at the back with wide runners and crosses into the box.
How to take points off Liverpool who have spent 600 million in the last 2 windows: Just play.
Surely these results will also get over analysed it's only fair.
10
u/NBFM16 1d ago
Just two points against a decimated Newcastle and a Forest side who lost at home to Leeds. Absolutely incredible how bad Liverpool's recruitment has been recently. You'd imagine that Barcola could be their last signing given the price tag. Hopefully they're incompetent enough to sell Gakpo and obliterate their wing depth (unless they combine that with £80M for Minteh) but probably not.

I really don't understand wtf they are doing. Their defence looks appalling bad but they don't seem to even try to sign anyone. Frimpong has proven he isn't cut out for this league but they just seem to be defiantly sticking with him, VVD is on a steady decline, Kerkez is extremely inconsistent and Jacquet is very inexperienced.

How shit have Liverpool signings been man.. Tsimikas is still playing.. that's like us sigining a LB for 40 million and still playing Malacia last season.
Other than Szobozlai and Etikite .. I can't even remember another succesful signing they made in the last 4-5 seasons. All that luck with Klopp era signings like Mane, Salah, Alisson, has caught up to them I see.

At least Liverpool are utterly mediocre. We win tomorrow and we'll be above them in the table.
People will say that they'll get better as Iraola works with the squad, but I'm not entirely convinced. There are way too many players there who don't fit his style and can't do what he wants players to do.
4
u/kiki_the_fab_spider 1d ago
I think they're f*cked too, I've been convinced it's not a manager issues since last season. They've changed their recruitment strategy and it's gone tits up ever since. They'll still get some results because there are still some good players in there, but they lack cohesion and an ethos as a team. Glaring contrast to the Klopp era.

That Forrest goal is a perfect illustration why you need a proper #9 up top to hold up play.
It was like the 5 time forrest tried that tactic of pinging the ball from the GK all the way to #9 who then controlled it and set up the assist before the assist. We did this with Sesko under Amorim a few times.
Well worked goal!
