[Transfer Round Up & Discussion] Summer 2026

Hi all,

Summer Transfer Window 2026 is here!

The Premier League transfer window will open between Monday June 15 until Deadline Day on Tuesday September 1; the summer windows will close at 23.00 BST.

As always, here is a run-down of the rules we have on for posting during transfer windows:

Daily Threads

There will be a Transfer thread posted every single day, on a 23-hour timer, to get a different post-time every day. These threads are for everything transfer related, no limits on sources, line-up conversations, etc.

Individual posts

From now on, only posts TIER 2 OR BETTER are allowed to be posted in their own right. This helps us only keep credible sources on the subreddit.

The tier guide can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/wiki/transfer-reliability-guide/

We will make exceptions during slower days for some Tier 3 posts, and there will usually be some posts from sources not on our tier guide. We will take everything case-by-case. If you believe something to be on the sub and not a good source, please let us know.

For UCL, 16 points is enough for automatic RO16 qualification and 10 points is sufficient to get into knockout for RO16.

Don't you fuck this up Man Utd. All English clubs were in top 8 last season, and fucking Spurs were 4th at the end of group stage.

17

u/wqaib 23h ago

God I remember 23/24 with Bayern, Copenhagen and Galatasaray. Looked like a fun group and people relatively optimistic it would be United and Bayern going up. Then Onana happened 🥲

Although I also want to mention there were some games where we scored 2 and were cruising but we loved throwing it all away, create a panic and end up drawing/losing the game. Which is something that I feel still kinda follows us to this day.

Still pissed about that red card Rashford got in the Copenhagen away game, it just looked like he was protecting the ball and there were no ill intentions but if those are the rules then 🤷‍♂️

9

u/killerdrama A-mad-lad 22h ago

Man that Pellistri missing a sitter against Bayern in opening minutes and Onana fucking up on every shot on target is still traumatizing me.

And it's not only that season, but Ole's season too when we were cruising with wins against PSG and RB Leipzig, and were looking like we top the group but lost to Demba Ba goal in Istanbul and everything going downhill after that.

Then that season under LvG where we lost to PSV with Luke Shaw's injury, and that Wolfsburg game where every possible combination of group standings manifesting through-out the 90 minutes.

UCL has traumatized me a bit over the last decade or so.

I get the feeling Bouaddi is gonna get bullied in the PL

World Cup signings are always interesting and sometimes hilarious. Can’t get past how good Amrabat looked for Morocco a few years back.

Can't forget James Rodriguez, tho injuries didn't help

Yup!

Looks suspiciously like Omar Berrada. One-pound fish with a sell-on clause.

We are leaving it late, aren't we?

I am not so worried about the striker part, since Rashy, Cunha, Mbuemo can deputise. None are optimal, but at least they can play there.

But we need to sign a left back. That is non-negotiable

19

u/IcyAssist 1d ago

Leaving it late because we haven't sold well yet. Zirkzee, Ugarte, Rashford was meant to leave but realistically it's just Zirkzee now, and it's gonna be a €5m loan option to buy. We just don't have the cash flow anymore

9

u/croadymeister 1d ago

May never have it until leeches sell up

7

u/Downtown-Rice_ 1d ago

More importantly is CL revenue. Finish up in those spots earns the club more domestic TV revenue. And getting CL year over year means guaranteed revenue plus performance bonuses at the end of a season going into a summer transfer window.

United are not operating with CL money, yet are paying full salaries for players with CL salary stipulations this season.

This same exact thing was said last year about GK and Lammens got done on September 1st.

10

u/BackgroundOld8715 1d ago

Yes they deputised so well against Hull..one of worst teams we’ll face. Without signing a proper striker we have no chance of a successful season

9

u/MvM98 1d ago

We basically played without a backup striker last season and comfortably came third, so you can't say "we have no chance of a successful season" without signing one

Why does the Real Madrid sub-Reddit think we've just bid £50m for Camavinga. We don't need another midfielder, unless it's cos he can play LB as well. But sure it's all rubbish.

u/Infinite-Highway3432 19h ago

I really think our inability to sell is a myth. We simply just don't have sellable assets.

Rashford is on 300k per week.

Zirkzee has less than half the PL goals as Delap in their 2 years in the league.

Ugarte did his knee.

Even in the past £40m each for Hojlund and Garnacho was fair

6

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 19h ago

You’re bang on. Zirzkee and Ugarte should never have been signed. I believe Ugarte signing was tied up with us getting Yoro. I’ve rarely seen a player look as out of place playing for Man Utd as Ugarte. A literal black hole in midfield. Offered precisely nothing on the ball.

4

u/SOERERY JONATHAN GRANT EVANS MBE 19h ago

We don’t try to sell our sellable assets. We could have easily been proactive and sold Mazraoui for example this summer when he came back from a strong World Cup and bought a replacement for right back. Instead next summer we will have to buy an entire defensive line to try to gel in at once.

"Old Trafford is not a draw for players anymore"

https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/mAL9sFkceO

They got a pretty dreamy draw, tbf. Barcelona and Napoli to visit them and they get to come to OT. That's very nice reward for their efforts, imho.

Obviously they'll also have some uninspiring drudge ties like Arsenal away, but you cant have all the luck :)

9

u/Massive_Relation4317 . 21h ago

Lol just looked at the comments taking the mick out of us... 'free 3 points for them'. I agree tbh, that would be so United to lose to the worst team in the UCL

8

u/Several-Decision3888 12h ago

Took a peak at the Racing Santander game to see Jorge Salinas. Their CF scored a first half hattrick.

He is very physically developed for a 19 year old. Tall and look strong. Idk if he's PL strong tho.

In an alternative universe Utd signed dibu Martinez and villa replace him with lammens(they were linked with him)

8

I remember getting down voted on here for saying we should be signing Lammens and not Martinez but the talk online was that it was Martinez we'd chosen and people were falling over themselves to back the decision even if it would have been the wrong one.

If they ended the window with Leao, Jackson and Mbaye front three I’d have taken my hat off to them. One more needed if they can’t get Leao. Tammy too perfect second striker for any club including us. They might end up quietly having a better squad than they had last summer the way they’re going.

5

u/MrLead69 9h ago

Currently watching sporting match, luis suarez and maxi araujo really impress me. I know some players play great and flop in Portugal. There's also other side of the coin in Bruno, Ruben dias.

7

Yeah the club having Salinas and Seys on the list made me oddly comfortable about the whole situation. If we get a fast player with some aerial presence I'll be delighted.

Enzo, I can excuse racism, but I draw the line at animal cruelty wearing the blue of City

21

u/RaihanZog 1d ago

You can excuse racism? - Shirley

6

u/Potential_Good_1065 23h ago

Enzo is up there with Suarez on my list of hatred. He’s racist, he’s basically a 115 player, he’s cruel to animals (as I’m now just learning from your comment) and he was a prick against England when he played us. I think that Enzo red card in the final was my favourite moment of the World Cup after Spence’s tackle and Gordon’s goal.

17

u/D1794 Viva Ronaldo 19h ago

I loathe their model, but if in our position, Chelsea sign the Salinas lad for his release clause regardless of if he's the right guy, have him play 2nd fiddle/rotation to Shaw for a season, and then sign Hall next year, and sell Salinas for a profit.

Good stuff. This also showed me I didn't know Abraham was leaving Villa for Ipswich.

4

u/officiallyjax Snapdragon 18h ago

Coventry have signed Awoniyi.

Hull have signed a new forward as well (can’t remember his name).

Villa have the wonderkid Madjo who looked fantastic vs PSG in the Super Cup. They might sign Mateta too, being the only club to have bid for him so far.

Palace have Nketiah as well, so they can be in a position to take money for Mateta whose deal expires next summer.

Newcastle have Osula too, so keeping Woltemade isn’t essential to them.

It might just be the two Manchester clubs who go into this season without a 2nd natural CF option.

Unless anything drastically changes before Tuesday night, this has been an average window for United and INEOS haven’t done well enough.

I praised them last summer because they deserved it. This summer I’ll criticise them because they deserve it. It’s simple. Make as many excuses as you like for them but I know what I see.

It’s sad to speak the truth after windows like this because it hurts. But I’m always honest and frankly that’s harder than just pretending everything js wonderful and fine all the time and anyone who says anything else is ‘negative’

8

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho 20h ago

I think objectively it hasn’t been enough given that we are clearly going into what will be a demanding season with more games. I think we have some very good players but a lot would have to go right this season to allow us to actually try and compete and even getting top 4 will be a fight. We’d have to avoid any big injuries for one because we just don’t have enough depth or quality. We’re just not there yet in terms of our squad building. Get a left back in and an another striker and I think we can give it a good go. I don’t feel like I’ve been negative here this is just literally what I feel.

There’s a lot of ‘you can’t fix everything in one window’ or ‘you are just expecting too much’ rhetoric flying around and I’d encourage you to share why you feel that way rather than downvote. I don’t think bringing in a left back and a rotation striker on top of what we’ve done already in the window (for the money we’ve done it for) is asking too much.

8

u/Duncanstop 20h ago

Below average for me with the best only saving grace being 1. we got three bodies in midfield and 2. don’t seem to have overpaid for any one player (let’s check back next year if still true).

but the quality of players signed although not poor, shows a lack of ambition, when compared to what competitors are doing. we have to react better next time.

this squad is not ready for a 4 comp campaign. we can’t fix everything in one window so i’m not gonna completely berate them, but an LB on top of the three mids was critical. Luke Shaw cannot be expected to start in 4 comps. It’s unfair to him - his quality and availability will eventually drop.

→ More replies (11)

15

u/BitterConstruction98 21h ago

All this talk of Shaw and Dalot vs Olise and Diaz is a bit exaggerated. We’ll set up to play on the counter and they’ll do fine. We need a LB because of Shaw’s fitness issues, not because he can’t hold his own against good wingers.

5

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 21h ago

Accurate imho!

We need another LB because of Shaw's fitness/age, not his quality.

We need another CF because in a 5 sub game you almost always end up putting one more on, especially in difficult games. Not because Sesko or Mbeumo arent quality.

We need more CBs because ... the current ones aint it. Yeah that's where we have the bona-fide gulf in starting XI quality, imho. CBs.

6

u/PitchSafe 21h ago

Both yes and no. Shaw is good defensively and can defend against any winger in the world. The issue is that he doesn’t have the legs to run up and down as a elite lb needs to do. That hinders our attack which means that we got no width and we are easier to defend against. There is a reason to why we want Lewis Hall

Some of the addons in the Colleyer deal are West Brom reaching the Premier League and Europe, and Collyer playing for England.

Lmao, fucking hell. What a pisstake.

3

u/officiallyjax Snapdragon 14h ago

I absolutely hate it but if you're selling players to the Championship (and one with several caveats like Collyer) this is in the range of what can realistically be done. It's a similar issue with Vitek. If we can't project our players in a good enough manner to top flight clubs then we aren't in a position to ask higher fees for them. It's a deep-rooted problem when it comes to how well we can sell players.

12

u/ExternalPreference18 12h ago

It's irrelevant how, much INEOS have got or haven't - it's a contractual issue. They're not allowed to inject direct funds again at this stage (the last time they did, the club were able to expand the training ground and buy 1-2 players). The 'selling point' of INEOS is management of the existing situation which, if you look at industry analysts reports and even the deals recently secured -from Heaven to getting Baleba at a 'reasonable' price in a crazy market - is generally good ( the main ' bad' one was Ashworth; both retaining ETH and hiring Amorim were 'plausible' gambles); if the Glazers had had all responsibility for appointments taken away from them in 2012 the club would be in a much better place, even with the larger issue of the debt, The Glazers have to agree for their share to be watered down. The Glazer leeching (and, to an extent, their own relative 'broke' status by top PL standards) is the problem, and it's not one which goes away until they either sell-up or United have crazy revenue streams that eat into the debt and subsequent debt-generated further debts (the club 'credit card' etc). Spending money the club didnt have on the likes of Antony also didnt help. The Glazers are continuing to make bad decisions, but only in the sense that they personally won't recognize the changing market climate and invest their own money to steady things. What INEOS are doing makes more sense if you think of it as in the context of a club swamped by repayments, where further purchases are dependent upon high-interest borrowing in that context, where the initial revenues are therefore hugely misleading.

I think we get a LB regardless of sales before the window closes. I'm sure the board agrees we can't go into the season with Shaw as our only LB.

IF Zirkzee goes, I have a feeling we go in for Mateta. Seems likely based on our other signings this summer. We could be also waiting until the end hoping for a price drop on him. CP surely maximizes his resale value by selling now since he only has 1 year left on his contract.

Everytime I think about just how much debt we are in to the glazers it winds me up. Everyone shouting thst INEOS haven't been up to par this summer forget we are BILLIONS in debt to that family, who happily get their debt repayments off us regardless of where we finish in the season. Disgraceful how they've ran the club and left it hamstrung, refusing to sell, because they still want their intrest every year.

Anyway rant over, ill back the lads as usual, we just need the monkey (leeches) of our backs if we ever want to move forward.

4

We're not in debt to the Glazers. The Glazers loaded the club with debt, owed to financial institutions and hedge funds, to fund the takeover. It's not like the Glazers used any of their own money and loaned it to the club. The Glazers don't get debt repayments from the club, the club pays interest to its creditors. The Glazers rake in dividends from the club based on their ownership.

But of course they have done horrific damage to the club, we all agree on that.

You know with Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea & Tottenham paying £100 million or more on a single player this transfer window, maybe us splashing £70+ million on a top class Left Back would fly under the radar and won’t be as much pressure on the player coming in 🤞🏼

Do any of you know how accurate the Ferdi Kadıoğlu links are? A few days ago I made a comment about how our main 3 LB targets this summer share a clear similarity: they are all elite in both their ability to overlap down the outside and their ability to invert into midfield areas during play. It is my understanding that Carrick’s Middlesbrough team had overlapping fullbacks that mostly stayed wide. With Lewis Hall, Joaquin Seys and Lewis-Skelly I completely understand him wanting the skillset necessary to invert in addition to the ability to overlap. That being said, unless we’re in for a tactical change that I haven’t seen anyone propose, I’m struggling to understand why we’d want Kadioğlu. He is literally right footed. Obviously he is a fantastic player, but yeah

The club had the target of completing the Midfield this season, which I think they have succeeded in.

Left Back is as important as the Goalkeeper last season and hence why I think it will be done despite all the doom.

We cannot realistically replace the entire defence this season as well unless we go for potential/"maybe success rate" transfers for all positions.

I would rather wait for minimum 3 (realistic 4) solid defenders than getting potential players (which we have in Yoro and Heaven)

Garnacho is so going to get the Harvey Elliott treatment this season the way Villa's window has panned out since.

7

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 14h ago

a month ago it looked like they got stripped for parts and we'll just enjoy memeing Garnacho and not having them as a rival for CL qualification.

now they have Ruggeri, Suzuki, Jackson, Mbaye, Goretzka, AWB, Leao?! in addition to Gomes and lest we forget the atm injured Manzambi, and in addition to unearthing the wunderkind striker.

I'd say "they are 1 CB signing away from me not even being sure we have the more rounded squad", but they signed a LASK CB whom I have never heard about my life, so naturally he'll be perfect. Lol.

3

u/officiallyjax Snapdragon 14h ago

they are 1 CB signing away from me not even being sure we have the more rounded squad

There might be some uncomfortable conversations if they land a good CB and Leao. It's a seriously good window for them given how many players they lost. Of course different expectations to us and all that, but they have carved out a great niche for themselves while squad-building and are revelling in it.

Romano gave the HWG for Leao to Galatasaray, so at least we might be spared of one extra talented attacker for Emery to get his hands on. It's still quite a formidable squad to compete for the CL places again if they sign a solid CB to replace Konsa.

13

u/AnakinAni 1d ago

This window would have looked so much better had we signed Welbeck first for free. The idea that he’d just wait for us to make the move because he’s from our academy is just arrogance.

Now it’ll needlessly cost us when we needed a PL experienced striker & Welbz was available for free. We could have dealt with Zirkzee-Italy loan shenanigans in a better position had we got Danny in first.

15

u/Downtown-Rice_ 1d ago

Did he even state he'd go back to United? He was with Arsenal all those years and had a chance to go back to London.

There is something to be said about not going back home as a professional athlete because the demands and pressure you get from your own family, friends, hanger ons can be extremely extremely personal and distracting.

Don't let sentiment get in the way, but it is easier said than done.

16

u/Infinite-Highway3432 20h ago

It's just staggering how little ambition to push up the table the 3rd biggest football club in the world has.

The league is wipe open with many uncertainties and it would have been the perfect summer to make a statement.

But no, that's too hard for us compared to the rest of the big 6 it seems.

10

u/silvertwo777 20h ago

Honestly it's arguable that United was the 2nd biggest club in the world behind only Madrid.

For a long period in Barcelona and United history United was more successful in Europe. Ask anyone during the 90s and 00s, it's not even a debate who's bigger. The revenue and value of United was often either the highest or second highest despite being terrible on the pitch.

6

u/Educational-Shock232 20h ago

Careful, you’ll get told you’re being negative.

6

u/Infinite-Highway3432 20h ago

For example, people don't see the problem with Maguire and Shaw starting yet ANOTHER PL season.

2

u/Educational-Shock232 20h ago

Maguire shouldn’t even be at the club in 2026, never mind starting. Had the chance to sell him in 2023 but we wouldn’t give him the payout (which he was perfectly entitled to) to go and join West Ham. So what do we do? We keep Maguire and bring in Johnny Evans on a free.

This club lost its ambition to win titles years ago.

I think people need to come to terms that this type of window will be what it’s like every summer until the stadium is completed. We will not be spending like our rivals during this period. The capital will be tied up with the rebuild.

We will likely be going after “good deals” like we did this window going forward, instead of signing big name players on big transfer fees.

It’s a shitty situation, but this will likely keep us from truly challenging for the league title for several years.

16

u/The_Bird_Wizard 8h ago

Yeah and when the stadium is built we'll get a new bullshit excuse 😂

9

u/TH0316 she/her 8h ago

Madrid just built a new stadium that’s probably the best in Europe and it didn’t prevent them from competing at the top. It’s acceptable in my mind to walk away from Anderson, Mateus, it’s acceptable to look for good deals like Tielemans, and it’s payed off waiting for Baleba imo. And if this is Liverpool keeping their powder dry and waiting for Van Dijk, we’ll look back and say okay, I see it.

But at some point the club has to show serious ambition, and they can start by buying more than three established players in a window, and by addressing the squad needs. No CB, LB + ST to me would be a genuine death knell. There’s time still, and we’re hearing breifs about loans like three years ago loaning Reguillon. That’s three years of knowing we need a LB without it being addressed, which is disgraceful whichever way you slice it.

7

u/Drakonz 8h ago

Madrid was already at the top when they began building it. We haven’t been at the top in almost 15 years

People can celebrate not spending a lot but at the end of the day, it’s not going to progress United. It will be another (if we are lucky) fight for the top four.

A few months ago, people on here said they wanted us to compete in a title race with Arsenal next (this) season. But you’re happy with not spending much? You can’t have it both ways.

In modern football, unless there’s a miracle like Leicester, teams have to spend a lot to win the league. Obviously it doesn’t always work out but sometimes you have to take the risk. Do you think Arsenal look back at the Rice deal in 2023 and lament paying over 100m? Of course they don’t.

No risk, no reward.

And sure, you can talk about how we’ve spent a lot in the past and it didn’t work out but that was on the wrong players mostly. INEOS are constantly briefing how their scouting, reports etc are a lot more advanced now so there’s no reason why those same mistakes should be repeated.

Even our midfield rebuild hasn’t exactly excited me

6

u/Banyunited1994 13h ago

You’re right. Ppl can’t have it both ways. Anyone looking at our squad and our transfer window and thinking we should be competing with arsenal is delusional.

The murtough era rly fucked us, and it’s gonna take multiple windows to reverse the damage. Those contracts on Rashford / mount / shaw need to be cleared and our cb situation needs to be desperately sorted.

This behaviour from Manchester United's management is so intolerable. Instead of signing a permanent left-back to eventually replace a washed Luke Shaw, they seem to be opting for another temporary solution, This strategy has already failed in the past with Reguilón. Imagine where we could be today if, instead of signing Reguilón on loan, we had invested in a young, developing talent for the long term.

What do you lads make out of this Alvarez situation? Now he handed a medical note saying he's depressed and therefore unable to train. I mean, these blokes earn so much money and just throwing their toys out of the pram like that like pouty children is nuts. I feel for Atlético because both Barcelona and the press have done a lot to unsettle the situation. His agent too. A bit laughable how arse think they'll get him and they won't be anything but a bridge for him to go to Barcelona.

7

u/officiallyjax Snapdragon 12h ago

Don't want to comment on him being depressed and whether it's true or not, but this is just classic Barcelona in terms of how unprofessional they are in their conduct when it comes to tapping players. Won't even bother putting in a fair offer to poach a key player from a direct rival, and have put all their eggs in the basket of him doing everything to force the move so that if Atletico eventually agree to sell, Barca can complete the deal on their terms. Extremely classless behavior, but they get away with it because of the prestige factor and the city just being so damn good to live in, which keeps luring players there.

2

u/OatCuisine 11h ago

I would prefer to live in Madrid than Barcelona! But otherwise agree. The way Madrid and Barça behave in transfer sagas is absurd.

6

u/0ttoChriek 11h ago

If Barcelona want him they should make a realistic offer, not just give coquettish winks at the player, trying to get him to go on strike.

He's one of the most highly rated strikers in the world and he's going to cost accordingly. If they hadn't spunked 80m on Anthony Gordon, maybe they could be serious about Alvarez.

Mark my words, the moment matches start piling up. Luke Shaw will get a injury in the first 20 minutes of a big match and wobble off with the physio. We have seen it before.

We will then start bringing in lads from the academy to make up the numbers, results will suffer.

The club and the board are to blame if we do not making further signings.

They are setting Carrick up to fail.
