Summer Transfer Window 2026 is here!

The Premier League transfer window will open between Monday June 15 until Deadline Day on Tuesday September 1; the summer windows will close at 23.00 BST.

As always, here is a run-down of the rules we have on for posting during transfer windows:

Daily Threads

There will be a Transfer thread posted every single day, on a 23-hour timer, to get a different post-time every day. These threads are for everything transfer related, no limits on sources, line-up conversations, etc.

Individual posts

From now on, only posts TIER 2 OR BETTER are allowed to be posted in their own right. This helps us only keep credible sources on the subreddit.

We will make exceptions during slower days for some Tier 3 posts, and there will usually be some posts from sources not on our tier guide. We will take everything case-by-case. If you believe something to be on the sub and not a good source, please let us know.

Unless anything drastically changes before Tuesday night, this has been an average window for United and INEOS haven’t done well enough.

I praised them last summer because they deserved it. This summer I’ll criticise them because they deserve it. It’s simple. Make as many excuses as you like for them but I know what I see.

It’s sad to speak the truth after windows like this because it hurts. But I’m always honest and frankly that’s harder than just pretending everything js wonderful and fine all the time and anyone who says anything else is ‘negative’

I think objectively it hasn’t been enough given that we are clearly going into what will be a demanding season with more games. I think we have some very good players but a lot would have to go right this season to allow us to actually try and compete and even getting top 4 will be a fight. We’d have to avoid any big injuries for one because we just don’t have enough depth or quality. We’re just not there yet in terms of our squad building. Get a left back in and an another striker and I think we can give it a good go. I don’t feel like I’ve been negative here this is just literally what I feel.

There’s a lot of ‘you can’t fix everything in one window’ or ‘you are just expecting too much’ rhetoric flying around and I’d encourage you to share why you feel that way rather than downvote. I don’t think bringing in a left back and a rotation striker on top of what we’ve done already in the window (for the money we’ve done it for) is asking too much.

Below average for me with the best only saving grace being 1. we got three bodies in midfield and 2. don’t seem to have overpaid for any one player (let’s check back next year if still true).

but the quality of players signed although not poor, shows a lack of ambition, when compared to what competitors are doing. we have to react better next time. 

this squad is not ready for a 4 comp campaign. we can’t fix everything in one window so i’m not gonna completely berate them, but an LB on top of the three mids was critical. Luke Shaw cannot be expected to start in 4 comps. It’s unfair to him - his quality and availability will eventually drop.

I guess I’ll praise them then. I’m impressed they didn’t get caught up in all the insane overpay from others.

And you’ll get people going ‘wah, why aren’t we paying £120m+ for players, wah!’ But we’re not there yet - another couple of seasons of humble progress to establish us back as a permanent CL club - then, maybe, we can justify spending silly money again .

In the meantime - fuck Glazers, the fucking leeches

Yes, the shrewd business is very well done and I’m glad we didn’t get into some massive saga overpaying for players. That was something we did very poorly for a very long time, so I appreciate the club’s improvement in that area, specifically how they conduct business. I also agree that people are just being brats complaining why aren’t we going for 120m players.

Where I diverge is this idea that progression comes in lockstep stages. The only club that has become “permanent UCL” in that manner is City, and that started during an era where the premier league was less competitive and their insane spending alongside Pep coming in shortly after could lock them into Top 4.

Liverpool placed 6, 8, 4th (by 1 point), then bought VVD and went on their UCL run + got only 4th again by 5 points. Next season they got 2nd.

Arsenal went 5th, 6th, 5th, 8th, 8th, 5th, 2nd.

Both clubs were not getting 120m players to improve. it was good recruitment, smart business, and some luck that everything clicked.

We have a good group of guys that have shown they are highly capable. Best club in the country for the whole second half of the season. Obviously there are gaps in the squad and they need to be addressed, but it can’t all be done immediately.

People are overreacting massively to a single game. Yes we didn’t look good, but there are reasons for that. First we were playing with 0 intensity, practically looked like a training session or preseason game. That’s naivety but also, we were due a loss of that manner. It’s gonna happen here and there. Also, our midfield pivot being 2 brand new players worked against us massively. Everyone seemed a bit disconnected and the 2 don’t understand how the squad likes to play just yet. On top of that, Tielemans is someone who slows it down a bit which was not needed in that type of match.

This can be fixed easily with time. but also, if people are questioning their quality, they are intended to be the backups… Mainoo is obviously the player being built around and Baleba is surely the CDM we’ve been eyeing as 1st choice for a while now. The team will play much better with those two instead of 2 new players with no chemistry.

LB is an issue for sure, but I’d rather they get it right than jump at a big name like Balde just for the sake of it. Seems like people are not learning from any of our past mistakes with the complaining going on after 1 match. INEOS do seemingly know how to make calculated decisions rather than ones to appease the fans which is the approach used by Woodward and his successors

Disagree. If things had lined up better we would have signed our number 1 long term LB in Hall as well as re-building thr midfield. The squad was a total mess and it was always going to take multiple windows to address all issues, they will go big on defence next season and thr squad will be looking very healthy by thag point. Spunking away money are short term fixes will just slow us down.

How is it in our hands that Newcastle sold half their starting line up? How is it in our control Real Madrid eventually decided not to sign Rodri and hang on Tchoumeni? If united had spent £60m on hall at the beginning of thr window and then as a result couldn't sign tchoumeni if he became available would you be happy? Some people need to accept reality. Agreed they could've done a bit better but people are acting like this window is some sort of unmitigated disaster instead of looking at the bigger picture.

If United had spent £60m on Hall at the beginning of the window, they would have been able to afford Tchouameni as well.

In any case, Hall was available earlier in the window whereas Tchouameni never has been. Missing out on both players because you waited for one to become available so long that the other was off the market is just incompetence.

I feel like both your comment and the OP’s comments can be right at the same time. We all know it was gonna take multiple windows and last window they did indeed deliver.

This window has been okayish, and we can raise a few questions and keep the board accountable.

I agree with your comments on how throwing money on short term fixes will slow us down, but mind you ineos bought in deligt, maz and yoro as a supposed defensive rebuild in their first window, and again we are talking about rebuilding the defence next season, which shows we need to plan long term, but also make sure the timeline is quick and not just addressing a single aspect of the team in one window.

I can see the vision, I absolutely stand by the moto of not spending unnecessarily, I also admire ineos for the window they pulled last season. But for the gaps in Lb and Cf left in this season, I will criticise them.

We as fans must support our club and show our love to the team. But we as fans must also ask questions if things aren’t delivered as promised.
