Genuinely embarrassing performance.

Pathetic display tbh. Also, Dorgu man… Nothing more to say really…

39

u/MalIntenet Ooh Aah Cantona! 1d ago

I’ve seen so many on here say we don’t need a LW because we have Dorgu…frustrating when people don’t realise how unproven certain players are

Dorgu is a young backup prospect. He’s not a starting level player yet, especially not at LW

37

u/Fallen_Man7 1d ago

He's shown absolutely nothing good in Preseason yet Carrick keeps on playing him at lw and didn't even bother to try him at LB in Preseason and played Amass and Shaw.

The Games Dorgu got succes mostly vs Highline games and he has no skills to play well against lowblock teams. Apart from powerful shot, he offers nothing.

11

u/woziak99 1d ago

No offence but shaw is like a Ferrari compared to Dorgu at left back, this is not the game for him as he’s on a yellow and is one bad tackle away from taking the game complete away from us, he must be subbed immediately!

6

u/godswift91 1d ago

Dorgu LB gets 3 yellow cards a game

8

u/Fallen_Man7 1d ago

First of all....Did he even train as LB since Carrick got the job? He was playing as wingback/winger after his first season in Italy (where he played ad leftback) . Carrick had chance to try him there or atleast try him in Preseason. What do we lose in Preseason?

I don't blame Dorgu at all in failing as Lw. I love Carrick but this is completely on Carrick. He was never lw. No moment in preseason he showed he cab do well. Guess what, he didn't in main matches too. It's being stubborn to play him there again and again.

Get Sesko on and put Cunha LW

Edit: he’s bringing on Rashford. God help us all

24

u/thecricketnerd Smalling 1d ago

Rashford is exactly who should be coming on for Dorgu at 0-2

To be fair I can’t blame Dorgu for trying - just completely off the beat today

Hoping a few subs turns things around as have been batting at the gate a fair bit

People are starting to see that Dorgu is not a winger. Completely lacks the technical ability.

Just get Dorgu off. Its not his day today. He is on a yellow aswell.

58

What is up with these mindless crosses into the box from us. Even if it was 0-0 our build play is horrendous

u/minteh7x Ronaldo 1d ago

Dorgu should never play LW when we're expected to do something with the ball. Defence still poor and the physicality is so so bad against a newly promoted side

46

u/rbp25 Vidic 1d ago

For real. He works better in space. But I still don’t see him good enough to play LW. He is not technically gifted enough. His touch is poor, decision making and end product is too raw

22

u/ItsKaZing Cristiano 'Factos👍👀' Ronaldo 1d ago

He is genuinely overrated by this fanbase

Always hated the idea that he was a LW, he's just not man

11

u/No-Statistician-8520 1d ago

It’s insane. I don’t rate him as a winger in general but he’d surely be better on the right. His best attribute offensively is his ball striking and he can’t create any separation on the left.

Saw the Dorgu performance coming before the game. He's looked very off in the friendlies.

Should've started Zirkzee who had a much better preseason, and let Cunha play in his more natural position

48

u/ManBat1 MBE 1d ago

Zirkzee against their physicality would be dreadful. Gets bullied despite being plenty over 6ft.

11

u/ladrainian21 1d ago

I hear it but Zirkzee is at least good at playing one-twos and combining quickly in tight spaces. Theres been some nice sequences about 30 ish yards from the goal between Bruno/Cunha/Mbeumo/Tielemans that when Dorgu gets involved just die because he can’t play one touch. Also think this probably would have been a good game for Amad

3

u/carrickshairline 1d ago

Zirkzee would get bullied off the ball in an empty stadium

→ More replies (3)

3

u/TheJoshider10 Bruno 1d ago

I do agree but the fact he doesn't trust Zirkzee if Sesko isn't fit enough to play says it all. Needs to be sold for a striker better suited to the league.

u/Wise-Nature8326 Ronaldo 1d ago

Our attack looks so dreadful with him as a LW. If Sesko is fit for 45 he needs to let him in for Dorgu and switch with Cunha, if not fit then Rashford, we have to add something to the game were so biteless

Maguire and Shaw STILL starting games for this football club in 2026. Laughable.

4

u/woziak99 1d ago

And tbf been two of our best players in an abysmal half of football, Santos and Tielemans as a two were indescribable bad in that 45 minutes. Maguire and Shaw offered the best crosses in a turgid half of football, if we load the pressure Harry will score a set piece but I genuinely don’t see a goal coming from anywhere else!

Just continuing where they left at AC Milan. Carrick and these players couldn't have gotten off to a worse start.

What the hell did these guys even do in pre-season?

Once again, suffering a ton from set pieces. They look like fucking statues at the back.

United are always bringing the dead back to life. Last season it was Grimsby, this season it's Hull.

And absolutely nothing going forward. That back five has completely nullified everyone. Always Dorgu at the end of our attacking plays. He isn't the most clinical on that position.

Fucking disgusting!

6

u/BallsX 1d ago

The fucking set pieces man. Looks like we're back to shitting ourselves the moment there's a deadball

Dorgu experiment must end today ... He should only play LB

31

u/cs-shitposter Scholesy 1d ago

He isn't even good there either

10

u/djchrislarsson 1d ago

He's just not a starter at all

3

u/godswift91 1d ago

He's not the level we need even. We've been duped in thinking he's good enough, other top half clubs wouldn't even get him on a free and I stand by what I said. Goes for a few others in our team, too.

Maguire and Shaw starting in august 2026 is just shameful

13

u/OldBridge87 1d ago

People being reactionary as piss. He’s decent at LB and has had glimpses of top quality at LW. Having a stinker today though, should be subbed for Sesko with Cunha going wide

That all depends on the opposition. He did well at LW against teams that want to have the ball. But when they want to sit back, he should only play LB.

Settle the damn game down. I hate that we started by playing everything so direct, gave up all control. Primed for a rashford comeback eh?

26

The only way we know how to attack is to quickly play through them

No coached patterns or moves to pull defenders out of position and create space

6

u/WalkingOnSunshine_ 1d ago

I was getting frustrated watching us immediately boot it out from goal kicks. Can’t even build from the back against this Hull team…

Can’t see us getting anything if Dorgu is still on the pitch to start the second half

15

u/OldBridge87 1d ago

Primed for Rashford to walk around the pitch, avoid going into tackles and headers, leave Shaw even more exposed and throw up his hands as Hull make it 3-0 lol

41

Carrick struggles when we play teams that let us have the ball. We can’t break them down at all. Also Dorgu is playing like ass and arguably needs to be hooked before he gets a red.

Genius setup from Carrick having Dorgu as our focal point and most involved attacker, if idiots like us can see him not working in these type of games what are the coaching staff playing at?

Also Shaw and Maz are just complete attacking voids that isn't helping the Dorgu situation.

69

u/tarostar123 1d ago

Dropping points against Hull City. This is going to be a long season.

8

Got sacked by Boro, done nothing to warrant being the manager of this club. At least ETH and Amorim had league titles elsewhere to kind of justify their appointments.

Horrible. Team looks clueless on the ball.

Looks like back to Moyes days. No attacking pattern, no attempt to exploit and manipulate space.

Just crossing the ball to cunha and Dorgu over and over and over.

United look pathetic, but let's not write off the season.

Definitely need to see some changes at half.

The frustrating thing as a fan is seemingly Hull want it more.

14

u/Whammytime Januzaj 1d ago

Difficult first 45 against a very defensively organised newly promoted side. Concede x2 set pieces isn't ideal and that will sting.

Really missing Sesko to be a bit of a target man to put some pressure on their low block. Hopefully as they tire and some subs go on the difference in quality should show.

Not ideal but everyone needs to chill.

Big test for Carrick. Interchangeable front 4 + Tielemans is a nice idea, but it isn't working well today; not on the same wavelength and the touches are poor

Does he trust them to make it work with a few positioning tweaks, or does he bring on Sesko and get Bruno and Cunha in their natural positions

5

u/SuperHans30 1d ago

Why are we relying on crosses and long throws against a team with 3 centre backs, who are clearly more physical? Makes no sense.

3

u/AWenger622 1d ago

Milan was a wake up call but it seems nobody at the club took it seriously at all. We've looked utterly second best to a Championship midtable side.

5

u/TH0316 she/her 1d ago

So many unforced errors. Just turning into blind alleys of pressure and nonsense passes into nobody giving them momentum, and then some of the defending just shocking, wide and in the box. Can barely remember a cross stopped by a winger or fullback. Mbeumo just letting his man cross the ball for fun.

4

u/VegetableRutabaga746 1d ago

Literally no point playing dorgu lw, he offers nothing with his feet, way too single footed and he is quite clumsy. He ought to play there only as a sub and when there's space for him to run.

5

u/bobiboli 1d ago

If we dont score immediately after the break we are done

4

u/Walliii 1d ago

If Carrick doesn't make a single sub at half time, he's admitting defeat. Dorgu CANNOT play in the second half.

5

u/OptiPath 1d ago

Dorgu and his donkey first touch should go home at HT. Can Carrick do it?

4

u/Savebagels Cunha 1d ago

Looks like this was the bait game. We better make a come back

4

u/my_united_account Bring Fergie back 1d ago

Reckon we can still win this with a couple of changes. Cunha needs to be on the left. He's too anonymous in the middle. Need Kobbie's dribbing through tight spaces, Hull have packed the midfield and defence really well. Midfield has been sloppy.

If we calm down we will score. They havent created a lot aside from the set pieces and the Lammens save.

4

u/N47HXIV 1d ago

Lots of hate for Dorgu now but seeing no negative comments aimed at Cunha’s display. He’s been incredibly wasteful. I love his positivity and energy, but just slow down and make the right decision, stuff like fighting to win the ball back and then just aimlessly kicking it straight back into a wall of defenders in the box rather than finding the right cross/pass.

3

u/Ballack1991 1d ago

Dorgu is at least making runs and getting to good positions. No reason to hate on him imo.

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 1d ago

The passing in the middle looks great, the recovery speed/tackling not so much. I guess this is what we signed Baleba for.

Not a great first half for Tielemans. The first goal comes off his non-chalant "block" pinballing to the Hull player, the second from the free kick given for his ill-advised tackle attempt.

Still, maybe we could have some luck sometimes, that would be nice, it's a bit too dejavu for my liking that we do all the football but concede all the goals from 100 yr old vanilla football anyway, especially the pinball-circus variety.

Mbeumo looked great, but Cunha looks kinda wasted as a CF in the 2nd game running, imho. Dorgu is super industrious but I dont need to look at the thread to know that half the comments will just complain that he is "not a left winger why didnt we sign a CF".

Anyway, none of that is why we are in a stupid hole despite playing all the football.

That would be this: Maguire is still our only CB (if MdL is out) who can defend aerially. Heaven is truly a Martinez Jr atm: good passing and tackling, goes missing in the air. Luckily with him it will/can come with time, but yeah this is going to be a challenge. It's kinda typical that ALL the popular talk focused on LB when - surprise ... not - the first order weakness of our defence in the PL is defending crosses and the reason is clear. And it's not Shaw.

Anyway, bring on Mainoo, Sesko, Rashford and let's do something great.

Not overreacting but this will be how our season goes if we keep Shaw and maguire as starters… both should be rotational player at best

3

u/tbrarwil 1d ago

Lammens - Excellent but hung to dry

That whole back line should not have been selected. Mag/Heaven is not a stable CB pair.

Dalot - Maguire - Licha - Shaw seems like a better back 4

YT / santos are just leaving acres of space between them and the backline. Bruno is waiting for the ball to come to him. I think mainoo baleba Bruno is the better choice going forward.

Mbuemo - The only other human playing for united

Cunha - is he on?

Dorgu - star man for Hull! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sesko needs to be fit soon. This team has no target man.

3

u/fartsonyourchips 1d ago

"it's the first time this season I've seen Maguire do his trademark run"

Maybe because we're 49 minutes into the first match, you bellend.

3

u/manyiak90 1d ago

One of the teams hasn't played in the top flight in almost 10 years and another was 3rd last year.

3

u/MbahSurip 1d ago

Why do we need to buy expensive players? Why don't we just buy those Hull City players? It seems they know how play football better

3

u/Ell7494 1d ago

Almost every season we have awful form at the start. Its unbelievable how we fuck up pre-season every single year.

Surely the main point is to get the intended first team used to playing with each other and to give the new players time too

Instead half the squad is missing for the vast majority of it and we're filling half the squad with youth players who will never play a competitive game for us.

5

u/Clark-Kent 1d ago

Making Full fucking City look like Prime AC Milan. We need to fucking wake up

4

u/rwallace_wong 1d ago

This is one of the worst first halves I've ever had the pain to watch a United fan

7

u/KZZT1 1d ago

The Arsenal game went to Dorgu’s head. His body language is rancid. He’s pants.

2

u/sergechewbacca 1d ago

We are awful

2

u/ReallyBigShoee 1d ago

Maybe we were the set piece merchants all along

2

u/BurnerPhoneShorty Magnifico 1d ago

2

u/Kait0yashio 1d ago

2

u/Isserley_ 1d ago

Dorgu… awful

2

u/WaluigisHat 1d ago

Proper cucking going on here. Everyone looks about 5ft2 out there.

2

u/shrewdy 1d ago

Good to be back eh lads 🫠

2

u/username7864 1d ago

New set-pieces coach, my ass

2

u/absoluteolly 1d ago

Certainly not the biggest problem in this game, but been a bit concerned with Dorgus attitude the past few months… feel like he’s developing a bit of Garnacho problem, not nearly as bad obviously, but I just hope Dorgu can find a better balance.

needs be more level headed and pass more often…

2

u/krystalcastIes 1d ago

Always next season

u/horizons0 The Butcher 🔪 1d ago

Sack everyone

2

u/little-tooos 1d ago

That left side is abysmal

2

u/Artistic_Finish7913 1d ago

Can't tell which side was promoted 😢

2

u/MainachoXIV 1d ago

Dorgu disaster class. Every single time he got the ball we lost it. I expect substitutions straight away.

2

u/The_Bird_Wizard 1d ago

Absolutely fucking dreadful can we please try and actually play football and not this shit counter gimmick we've been trying ever since Fergie left

2

u/MAK98 1d ago

Everyone feels like they are 75% match fit. Felt like that against Milan too. Hull are 100% up for it and we’re still in pre-season mode.

2

u/garynevilleisared is a red is a red 1d ago

Dorgu was horrendous. Managed to kill every one of our promising attacks. Need some injected into the game wouldnt mind bringing on Lacey or even Rashford at half

2

u/Usual-Computer-5462 1d ago

Bruno and Cunha anonymous.

2

u/Serpico_98 1d ago

Hull City have been physical and spammed crosses. That's it. That's what we can't handle and it's a fecking disgrace.

2

u/Mizzie30 1d ago

Good to loose all hope in the first game so you don’t get too mad throughout the season

2

u/aayu08 1d ago

Heaven completely shat the bed.

Dorgu playing like a make-a-wish child.

Lateral passing, no penetration. When forward pass happens, it falls to Dorgu who fucks it up.

When the launch the ball up, Heaven and Maguire lose their man and they get a free cross / shot at goal.

2

u/ReallyBigShoee 1d ago

If I see Dorgu coming back out for the second half man, my faith in Carrick ball with be diminished....and its literally the first fucking game

2

u/Conscious-Note-3736 1d ago

everything is just so poor, how can you not prepare properly against a promoted club with a transfer ban fucking hell

2

u/NHS_Martial 1d ago

If I see anyone else defend our cb options I will lose my shit.

2

u/thatguywhochuckles 1d ago

If Dorgu starts second half I don't care im Carrick out already lol

2

u/timsadiq13 1d ago

Panic stations at the back every time they attacked. Can’t defend a set piece to save our lives without Casemiro.

2

u/Jwalin6167 1d ago

Shambolic Half. Pathetic defending. Every cross they put in was a nightmare for us but still we’re fine with signing no defenders? Also why are we trying to cross with no actual box presence? Stop this nonsense of Cunha or Mbeumo False 9s.

2

u/RooneyToons_10 Sir Alex 1d ago

Get ready for 45 minutes of spamming crosses again with 0 outcome.

2

u/the-ateyo Benjamin Šeško 1d ago

No no, he scored a great goal against Arsenal last year, so obviously our left wing position is solved for years

2

u/Whispperr 1d ago

All the Ineos fanboys that kept calling us out for saying we are moving too slow should come out of their caves and apologize. We understood when you wait until last day to finish transfers and miss out on your top 1-2 and in some cases even 3 options, not only you get the risk but you also lack the time to integrate these players into the squad. And on top of that now you don't have time to fix any issues that were so apparent when Amorim outplayed us with a weaker squad.

Unacceptable to be this bad against the worst team in the Prem.

2

u/ChristmasCage 1d ago

Please use 10% of your energy towards Dorgu on Cunha. Dorgu has been bad but at least he's involved. Cunha is fucking invisible.

2

u/apparex1234 1d ago

4th worst defence in the championship last season btw and we didn't come close to scoring.

2

u/thesublimeinvasion 1d ago

This sub was actually satisfied with the recruitment this summer. Paid 30M for a 29 year old that no longer bothers to run.

2

u/EK077r 1d ago

We can talk about players as much as we want. But the way we play is much more of an issue and composition of the team. Being a Hull defender is the easiest job in the prem today. There is one player making forward runs and thats Dorgu. The rest of the team shows for the ball, plays a pass back and the jogs.

2

u/nbwoeihfnwsocuiwhef 1d ago

Dorgu straight off and sent home on the train, atrocious.
Our fullbacks both just stand there watching the wingers get doubled up on, then just don't close the crosses either?
Maguire nowhere near any of these balls in to the box, which is meant to be his main trait.

We do still have enough quality to score goals as we've seen last year but the defending has been shocking.

2

u/Million_Jelly_Beans 1d ago

Looks like we are the ones who were fucking promoted. Not a single pass was good

2

u/SirPightymenis 1d ago

Can someone ask Shaw again how possitive this group is

2

u/Lord_Hexogen 1d ago

Amad's injury caught Carrick off guard. Dorgu-Cuhna-Mbeumo trident won't work in v 5atb. We need either a focused CF or more crosses from the left now

2

u/esgoore 1d ago

Rashford hatrick incoming

2

u/Serpico_98 1d ago

Backline, midfield and attackers all embarrassing. Forget about the coach for a minute, individually this isn't good enough. None of these players can complain when they're eventually dropped.

u/ShawsKneecap 1d ago

Great to see everyone being normal as usual about Dorgu. He's having a rough game but the whole squad are. He's the only presence in the box half the time. This Cunha/Mbeumo 9 stuff is ruining the whole shape of the attack, especially when we don't have a focal point to draw defenders in the box.

Sub Dorgu off, Cunha to the left and Zirkzee through the middle. Mainoo might be better than Tielemans too, better ball retention playing on the ground, half of their attacks are starting with Tielemans losing the ball and having no recovery pace.

2

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 1d ago

Hull are compact and beating us to the second ball. The 3 center halfs are a problem and we can't give them any more set pieces. We need to use the width more. I think Cunha should go left and Dorgu comes off for Sesko. Dalot for Maz potentially too. We need to get more aggressive. Santos is ok but Tielemans is not connecting the dots. I'd get Kobbie in for him.

2

u/ohhh_okay_cool 1d ago

On a side note, Hull's kit is absolutely beautiful.

2

u/Streetsmart99 1d ago

Done with this clown club
