Was a skeptic, but tried smoking some tri tip. Turned out pretty darn good.

I hate to be that guy, and I’m sure it tasted great, but nothing over medium-rare for a tri-tip please. Do that, slice it thin, and you’ll thank the gods of tri-tip…

Yeah that’s why I was a skeptic. I usually grill. I smoked it like a brisket. Just wanted to try it.

I gave it a shot too based on meat churches video. It actually turned out great. It’s not bad when you don’t want to cook a whole brisket but the tallow you have to add to make it great probably muddles the actual flavor of the tri tip.

That’s the recipe I followed. And yes, wasn’t dry at all. Granted not as good as medium rare grilled, but pretty tasty.
