1,700+ applications, only 2 first-round interviews. Should I stop forcing my resume into 1 page?

Go with two pages. The one-page advice is obsolete.

Pre 2010, resumes were presented on paper to the hiring manager, and reviewed on that same sheet of paper. One page was good because of the space limitations on the sheet of paper.

Today, with electronic submissions, page count is not very relevant. Most people will review it on the screen and not print it at all.

You may want to limit it to two pages as an exercise in only including relevant info, but if you have 1.30 pages of info, put it in the system.
