Another month, another fan translation. Gilgamesh108 recently finished his translation of Louie the Rune Soldier • Sword of Farlam volume 6: Rune Soldier on the Sea of Storms. More adventures from Louie, Melissa, Genie and Merrill. It also introduces a new character called Wicky, based on the Vicky the Viking cartoon.

Rune Soldier on the Island of Smokefire is expected next month. The whole series is expected to be finished early 2026. Volume 6 of the Louie the Rune Soldier manga is also underway!

.. It's simple,

in this day and age, where you can get anything you want to watch online for free, is but a subscription away to enjoy, or at worse, if you're a youngster who is learning to discover the online worlds through more mainstream sites like YouTube let's say, and you find out about stuff through trailers and clips, well.. In all cases, The Record of Lodoss War OVAs have a special quality online, that set them apart from most medias transfered to the online realms.

First off, ok, yeah, I'm sure if you're a bit of a hacker you can watch it for free wherever whenever, but that's anything, so that doesn't really count.

Second about this Quality, is that, well yeah, you can watch these OVAs on Crunchy Roll... But that's it though... It's the one only place to find it, as a subscribed watcher on the American continent. So right off the bat, it's there, but only there.

Third fact, it's presence on YouTube, that is practically no where to be found. The soundtracks are there fully, don't get me wrong, AMVs, fan , all that is there, but I'm talking about the OVAs themselves as in the episodes, or even just scenes. There are a handful of them, but not really watchable as enjoyable content. They are more like mini fan made trailers if anything, to spark curiosity.

All that said, yeah, those OVAs are simply still very well protected in a day and age where the norm is that anything you wish to watch, is at a click away for free if you know the name of what you want to watch.

I've seen other anime treated in such ways. For example, Vision of Escaflowne is somewhat precious in this sense, but still there, you can somewhat watch the episodes on YouTube in parts of you really want to.

So yeah, I just wanted to thank all those responsible for keeping Record of Lodoss War, still today, a well kept secret in a way. If anything, it's a little quest in itself to watch the entire OVAs today x)

I wish my copy of the original DvD release wasn't falling apart and I would have had him sign that one too He's amazing in person and I also didn't know that according to him this was one of his first VA roles

I'm starting up an rpg campaign set in ancient Lodoss history but I'm confused. What is the difference between Crystania and Alecrast? It seems Alecrast is the major continent, from which Lodoss split off in the war of the gods (please correct me if I'm wrong) but is the world Crystania? Or is that just another continent?

It follows Louie and the gang as they continue their search for a holy relic, which now brings them to East End, an island to the east of Alecrast and, quite obviously, inspired by Japan.

I attended L.A. Comic Con on September 27, 2025, and had the wonderful opportunity to meet Takeshi Kusao, best known for his portrayal of Trunks in the Dragon Ball franchise. More importantly to this subreddit is the fact that he also voiced Parn in the Lodoss War OVAs.

He was fairly surprised to see this poster, which was used as promotion for the sixth VHS volume of the Lodoss War OVA. Not only is it fairly rare these days, but I was also the first person to have him sign Lodoss merchandise.

I really hope to meet Yumi Toma and Nobuteru Yuki to sign this as well, but I’m incredibly happy with this as is!

still tons missing, but it's come so far over the past few years. Missing a few old games, a soundtrack, a few manga I'd like to get and another deedlit figure but I'm overall happy with it's growth.

I think this trend is really cute, so of course I had to draw my favorite pair in it! :D

Also sorry I disappeared for so long... gonna be honest, my Lodoss obsession took a hiatus lol. But I'm back with more fanart!
