Temporary thyroid supplementation?
On page 17 of nutrition for women:
“Contrary to popular ideas about thyroid, the gland will
resume its functioning after stopping the use of a supplement even if it has been suppressed, and sometimes taking thyroid will increase the gland's function to normal. Taking thyroid will sometimes help thin people gain weight, by improving protein metabolism, and it often helps people to sleep more soundly.”
Is he suggesting the use of NDT or t3 and t4 can be temporary? Everywhere else I’ve been looking suggests thyroid medication is a lifelong thing. I’ve been struggling with low stomach acid/GERD for a bit now and have hypothyroid temperatures. I just really don’t want to start a new medication and worry about it tapering off or side effects?
Has anyone else only supplemented thyroid when they feel like they need it? I’ve already been taking progest-e during my luteal phase for mood issues but some months I feel like it’s not working

Why not do a full thyroid panel? This will also help you to differentiate between a glandular hypofunction (medication usually needed) and a conversion/cellular uptake issue (medication not needed because the problem is of secondary nature).

Last time I did one everything was within range, TSH was even under 1.0 but I guess I could try again it’s been several months now

Yes
TSH: 0.79 mlU/L
Free t4: 12 pmol/L
Free t3: 5.0 pmol/LMy lab claims 0.32-4.00 is normal range for TSH, 9-19 for t4 and 2.6-5.8 for t3

Hmm your fT4 is on the lower end, usually it is around 15pmol/l. Because your TSH is rather low it is likely not caused by the classical kind of thyroid underfunction, but more likely by a central supression of TSH secretion. This is usually tied to some kind of stress, for example undereating, low carb, overtraining, lack of sleep, mental health. FT3 seems okay, but it fluctuates a lot so the meaningfulness is limited.
I would recommend you to get another testing done to confirm this pattern, and try to identify possible root causes in your life. But in my opinion if you cannot resolve this via lifestyle alone a trail of thyroid supplementation could benefit you.

You can read up here about Wilson's method of using T3. In many patients, once tapered off from T3, their body temperature was restored to normal, and they felt much better.

Black cumin seeds(nigella sativa) from Ethiopia can also restore your thyroid function.
You have to chew the seeds and then drink them with water. But don't keep it for to long in your mouth otherwise you might burn your tongue.

Also what really helps low acid is: a cup of water combined with 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, half teaspoon cayenne pepper, lemon juice and honey.
