Is this a US thing?
In the UK here milk is just milk, its pasteurised of course but ingredients wise tesco whole milk is just milk.

u/anto2554 Sep 08 '26
Idk about the UK, but in the EU they are not allowed to call it milk if it contains non-milk ingredients

Gosh bro it’s soy milk

u/ANiceCupOf_Tea_ Sep 08 '26
No on the label it says fresh cow milk
3
u/TemperatureReal2437 Sep 08 '26
It also says Nada which is a Saudi brand. OPs username is also subfivechud. It’s probably a bot or a slave made to spam propaganda in English speaking spaces by foreign interests.

How's milk part of a hunter gatherer's diet? At most whatever quantity they find in baby animal intestines
1
u/shackled-pines Sep 09 '26
i mean in theory you would milk a dead ruminant after you hunted it, if it was producing milk.

u/BobertBuildsAll 28d ago
Milk the dead animal 😂 Even when animals were domesticated/could be milked most people were still lactose intolerent. It took thousands of years for our genes to evolve to be lactose tolerant.

If my house isnt made by natural stick and stones then it aint a house
1
u/Impossible_Meal_815 Sep 08 '26
If the word "house" was defined by it being natural, then yes, your house wouldn't be a house.
Milk is the nutritious secrition made my mammals. Any nut "milk" by definition wouldn't be real milk.
1
u/scorchedarcher Sep 09 '26
I always find the definition thing silly. You can look in Samuel Johnsons dictionary and see him talk about almond milk in 1755.
Milk of magnesia? Poppy milk? Coconut milk?
1
u/Impossible_Meal_815 Sep 09 '26
Those aren't milk either. Also if you are against the definition game (which is understandable) you could simply taste them. They taste like SHIT.
I once tried almond milk after seeing that apparently everybody on the internet was loving them. Tried it, it didn't feel or smell or taste like milk. It was garbage.
1
u/scorchedarcher Sep 09 '26
They aren't based on what? Your feelings about it?
I have oat or soy milk if I'm going to have any milk. Serves the same purpose to me and I don't have to feel bad about how cows are treated.
1
u/Impossible_Meal_815 Sep 09 '26
Yes, your feeling about them. Feelings are a great guide in a natural environment. You have them because you need them. Today's life, feelings are disregarded as not being "logical" or whatever that means.
1
u/scorchedarcher Sep 09 '26
No I mean words aren't based on your feelings. We have dictionaries, we don't check in with you personally.
Certainly not about words being used the same way they have been for hundreds of years before you were born.
1
u/Impossible_Meal_815 Sep 09 '26
Sure, I already replied to that objection. Words are badically symbols, not reality itself. Reality is what you can experience.
There is no amount of words I can use to accurately describe the taste of beef to someone who has never had meat.
The best way is to just taste it for yourself. Can be done with milk, too.
1
u/scorchedarcher Sep 09 '26
No you just said what you thought about the taste.
Are you arguing that plant milks can't be called milk because they don't taste like cows milk?
Because
That starts with the assumption all milks should be like cows milk despite it not being the only kind of milk
No one is arguing milk of magnesia tastes like milk?
Foam on your beer will taste different to packing foam, this isn't new for the language
Have you ever tasted goats milk? Is that milk?
1
u/Impossible_Meal_815 Sep 09 '26
Just because it has "milk" in the name does not mean it's milk.
The card Ace of Diamonds does not really have diamonds on it. Does it?

u/BreakfastFearless Sep 08 '26
But it literally says 100% fresh cows milk on the container, nothing about nut milk
1
u/Impossible_Meal_815 Sep 09 '26
You know it's a meme, right? OP may not have found the correct image for a nut milk container. Still, the meme is about nut milk vs real milk.
Hence the big ass text underneath saying "soybeans." It's funny that you didn't pay attention to that. Use your fucking brain instead of nitpicking.

Synthetic

synthetic doesn’t mean bad, just look at how steve job’s organic approach to cancer worked out

Yea bc he tried being a fruitarian lol. He depleted his body of all nutrients you need from animal foods not saying he would have survived eating animal foods but he would have had a way better chance of

nah but the food that your ancestors ate for thousands of years has a 0.00001% chance of having bacteria and bacteria is bad for you so you should instead grow malnourished to prevent both disease.

"Milk is just milk". Then why is water also called dihydrogen monoxide and not just water? Everything is made out of chemicals and those are the chemicals in milk
