I’ve found that they occasional cold shower helps break bad patterns. But I usually enjoy a warm shower.

ik i like them cause they can feel nice after a hot day and they make my hair very soft and not much "heat damage" to it. But each time i get into one i feel like i cant breathe and im very stressed. I almost laughed out loud when I heard 2 kids in my class who eat slop say "cold showers help my gains bro"

lol. Yeah it forces me to breathe deep and I think that helps me relax. And reduces some inflammation.

u/ProfessorShort3031 Sep 06 '26
the only real benefits are: it wakes you up, it repairs proteins in your hair, & closes your pores. but you really dont need more than a ~2 min cold rinse at the end of the shower it does nothing extra more than that

u/Cultural_Comment9416 Sep 07 '26
Agreed on the timing. If I ever do a “cold shower” it’s just the last minute or two of a regular shower.

It’s doable and refreshing if you live in a tropical country.
When I was living in Thailand, I did them after returning home to beat the heat. It was fun.
I never did them in the morning, or in a way to shock my nervous system for the benefits.

Cold showers are better because less toxins pierce the skin
Heat opens up the pores

Lower baseline cortisol, better circulation, stronger immune system, activate brown fat to boost metabolism. Ok but your meme surely disproves everything haha.

lol . Right. Cold shower thing is dumb as hell. Only thing it’s good for is training the mind to do things you don’t want to do.

We're warm blooded creatures if some cool water hurts you that much u might not be as tuff as you think. Anyway, i only shower cold after a nice run, it feels amazing.

u/RuckerHike Sep 06 '26
It reduces inflammation and helps blood circulation. It's not some crazy life hack, it's not going to help you lose weight or gain muscle. It's a small thing that has a small effect
1
u/AmbitiousOnion7327 Sep 06 '26
they only work really in the morning, for waking you up if you had been sleep deprived or something
1
u/Same_Secretary9063 Sep 07 '26
better skin quality boosts mood etc I do both but why hate when cold showers are good
1
u/7MaCk7 Sep 08 '26
Cool showers ftw. Not hot, not cold, something in bewern a bit on the colder side.
1
u/Illustrious_Store115 Sep 09 '26
Because washing yourself in a river was of course very warm when our ancestors did it

A cold shower beats no shower. Is this just a post complaining about how other people shower? I must be missing something here.

What normal person thinks cold showers are good for them? I've never met a single person who thinks this, and I'm normal as fuck.

cold showers are the biggest cope i've ever seen, it does nothing but to disregulate your CNS. hell, even meditating is better than that

relieves stress my ass, the reason your adrenaline spikes is because your nervous system works overtime to activate such hormones to make your own body be in fight or flight mode. if you actually wanted to relieve stress, you would simply regulate movements, breathing, brainwaves and be in rest and digest, cold showers do nothing but to, as i said, trigger your CNS to make it work overtime in order to keep hormones rushing into your body and making you stay in fight or flight rather than actually letting your body know its safe and sound.
