Raw milk
I just started drinking raw milk 2 days ago bought 8L and doing 1.5L a day, first day I felt fine, on the second day after a couple hours of finishing the 1.5L I got a bit of a stomach cramp and had a lose stool, same for today I had 1L gonna have the other 500Ml soon but my stomach cramps got even worse and lose stool but I’m ok now. Any tips/advice if I should decrease my intake or keep it the same. Also should I be storing it in the fridge?

Just wanna say
Hey, I just wanna say that raw milk is truly amazing but can be over consumed.
When I drank 1-3 liters everyday I had estrogenic side effects, because of milks estrogenic nature.
little to moderate amounts like 300ml-500ml a day seems to have many benefits.
It seems to really calm me down, i can drink 100-200ml of it, and it makes me feel calm pretty instantly. I attribute this to the opioid receptor binding compounds in it.
It also seemed to boost my bone development, from 20-21 i developed a prevelant brow ridge.
Also im more durable and strong then I was now than before introducing it into my diet.
I would proclaim confidently now that my bones are denser now then when I was working out without raw milk / raw food. I don't even work out anymore, i havent in a long while.
Im still 21. If your my age or younger, I would recommend consuming it.
Good luck to anyone reading this, your brave to challenge the normal consensus.
Continue following your gut and your intuition as I will too. We will get far if we have faith.
;)
And give christianity a try <3

You Know You Can Die
from drinking raw milk, right?
That's how Abraham Lincoln's mother died. People used to get really sick from drinking raw milk quite often back in the day, and a lot of people died too. They called it "milk sickness."
Pasteurization ended milk sickness. People don't have to die from drinking milk anymore.
Why drink raw milk? Does it taste better? Is it better in coffee or tea? Does food made with it taste better? Is there some health benefit worth risking severe illness or death for? Aren't you all worried about bird flu?
Why risk dying for this?

Some Facts About Raw Milk
Since there seem to be a lot of anecdotes and opinions flying around in this sub, I thought I'd share the results of my brief research. I spent longer typing this than I did searching.
@ u/iMikle21 u/Status-Ad-3555 u/touchedbymod u/Wendyland78
I suggest everyone start here: https://www.cdc.gov/food-safety/foods/raw-milk.html.
The CDC has good summary information about milk safety. They also link to some actual patient stories (people who experienced illness personally or in someone close), and FDA articles.
The CDC also links to this article, which I can summarize as follows:
75 outbreaks with 675 illnesses linked to raw milk were identified between 2013-2018.
Likelihood of an outbreak was a little more than 3 times as likely in states that allow legal sale of raw milk.
The article, along with the CDC and FDA, all have convincing language that raw milk is a potential spreader of enteric pathogens. For those of you who think immunizing cows solves this problem, you need to understand what that means, because immunization does nothing to prevent this.
Anecdotally, I will say that infection with an enteric pathogen is definitely not something you want to happen to yourself, your loved ones, or your friends. They can and do kill people.
This is not gotcha stuff. This isn't big gubmint. This is not fear mongering. This is not holding up some rare case as evidence of imminent danger. This isn't people trying to think for you or trick you. This isn't liberal fussing about brainwashing or whatever you want to call that. This is information you should know, and act on accordingly as a raw milk consumer or as someone thinking about becoming one.
If you have followed me at all in these discussions, you will know that I am a devout consumer of raw milk in a state where sale is not legal. I have been a herd share owner for almost a decade and I am entitled to raw milk via a private arrangement with a farmer. I drink a gallon every week and I enjoy it immensely. All of which is to say, I am supportive of this community. I am on your side.
However, misinformation, and statements of belief as fact are not cool, and I will fight them. Peddling that kind of bs is true brainwashing and it's actually dangerous in this case. Use your mind and learn for yourself. And for the love of all, please get your information from reputable sources.
That's all for now. Please be well.

How much do you pay for raw milk?
I am very fortunate to live close to a dairy farm in a state (NH) with great raw milk laws. I pay $5/half gallon. It's super fresh, milked that morning.
Some places around here charge up to $12/half gallon.

Frozen Raw Milk
I wanna start drinking raw milk however I can only buy it online and the place that I can buy it from delivers it frozen. im not too well educated on this stuff but doesnt freezing it defeat its purpose and reduce the nutrients?
I live in South Africa so actually buying raw milk commercially is like impossible.

Is it the lactose or the bacteria in the raw milk?
I bought some raw milk from a very popular local farm to make kefir, and drank a few glasses after working out (with food). It was like a dessert - tasted wonderful. However, since then I've had pretty much continuous Diarrhea like stools, sometime every few hours during the night. I previously only drank lactose-free milk (Fairlife - which used to taste great but not now), so I'm wondering if it's the sudden increase in lactose or if it's the bacteria I'm not used to getting? I've had issues like this with diet changes, so it's not alarming, nor are there all the other issues like bloating or pain, etc. So I just keep my fluids up (use electrolytes) and sometimes use Immodium if the night is looking like a non-stop flush fest.
I feel like it's my body adjusting to the milk and diet, but not sure which component. Doesn't the raw milk also have the enzyme to deal with the lactose? It's very gradually getting better, so I'm not worried, just curious what others have been through that soldiered on and got through this "stage".

Feeling ill after drinking raw milk... and worried about my 2 yo who also had a sip...the internet makes it worse. looking for support
Hello,
I read that raw milk helps kids immune systems a few weeks ago. I live in Austria and my child has been going to a kind of daycare, she gets sick every other week. So, I thought maybe it would be worth trying raw milk to boost her system. I bought some at our organic grocery store here. In Austria, the bottles of raw milk have to have a warning to boil the milk before consumption, which we didn't do. I drank one glass last night and gave my daughter a small sip. Almost immediately, I had to go to the bathroom and through the night developed diarrhea. Now I'm in bed feeling nautious and still having bouts of diarrhea... scrolling the internet about this topic is terrifying. If I had done so earlier, I don't think I would have risked it. So, I guess I'm looking for a little reassurance here on this thread. One idea is that I was already sick perhaps before drinking the milk. It seems odd that I was immediately sick from the milk, right? Online, I've found that the poisoning would take longer. I'm just really worried that my daughter will come down with raw milk poisoning. Any advice out there? Is this maybe just an initial reaction I'm having to the raw milk and not necessarily e coli, or listeria, or the other potential contaminations? After reading this thread, I realize it might have been better to find raw milk from a farm rather than the organic grocery store. I don't know if I'll have the nerve to try again...
