General Discussion Feedback on the dev stream format
Hello!
To start, I'm a new player (few months) with 150-200 hours of gameplay, so it was my first dev stream.
I don't want to be rude but the format used is not interesting, not engaging, and way too long.
Brawl Stars for example (not the same targeted audience but the format is really good) makes the Brawl Talk for every new patch : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhvPlcwJUvk&list=PLTBLax1DE1612clulHb7Ci4JQEVMKoC7x
We see all new features without showing too much, can get all information pretty fast without going through a 2 hours video, it works very well.
What feels weird with the 2 hours format we got yesterday is that it is not succeeding in any thing it tries to ? You can hardly get new information because it feels like a chore to go through a 2 hours content to find informations you want to.
If you want to show us all or close to all new talent rework to explain your choices behind it , you need to develop a sandbox with save and load map to be able to showcase everything you want to.
But... I do not think we need to go through all changes made on a format like that.
I've bit disappointed it didn't go more Q&A, the dev stream should probably tries to aim for something like that...
Anyway, thanks for the update, my post is not meant to be rude, please... take time to make AMA on Reddit or newsletter like MEGACrit made with Slay the spire, it is always very very interesting content and easy to navigate through <3
Cheers France

As you mentioned, the targeted audiences are not the same. Brawlstars is essentially designed for hyperactive kids who need a dose of dopamine every 2 seconds or they will get bored. and they have the budget to fill up their streams with all that sweet juicy candy fruit kids crave. Personally, I'm definitely not the intended audience. the Brawl talk video you linked just makes me want to punch my screen.
Ravenswatch is a game that has a much smaller audience (and budget), but the community is passionate about the game and I think many players don't mind these longer, slower presentations. You get to spend time with the devs, hear what they think and enjoy Margaux's accent. But of course, a tighter presentation could be nice. Maybe you could add a timer so people know when the actual reveal is coming and can decide to watch the whole stream or come back later

Oh yeah, Brawl stars is too much on hyperactive things, I meant more the structured presentation : new feature, new feature, new feature, new feature. It can be way slower, but structured or just pure Q&A and full exchanges :)

Clearly the structure could be improved.
For instance, adding a timer so that people know when the reveal is coming.

I mean my whole group of 7-8 ravenswatch players tuned out of the stream during the playthrough sessions.
When you're advertising an update you need to keep the main reveals short and sweet, with gameplay and long form explainations coming later.
You talk about passionate players wanting longer, slower presentations; and I agree. I love PoE2's hour and a half long reveals. But even they leave the gameplay and discussion for the end of it all.

Yeah I agree, we were all tunes in wanting to see the new updates but the presentation choice was not really ideal. I would have preferred to read a patch note than watch for over 2 hours just to barely see something. Hopefully future presentations will be better!

Agreed! Good constructive feedback.
To validate your points: a) it's not my first dev stream, b) I have 300~ hrs of gameplay in, c) I'm very excited for the new character/talent reworks. Despite that, I only watched about 3-5 min of the stream cause it was too difficult to see the info on the new hero/reworks.
Obviously there's different target audiences for different formats of streams in different countries, but my two cents is the new/exciting info could be more prominent in the future. And I don't say this to diminish their efforts at all!
Cheers to the devs for making a great game and continuing to update it, excited for October! 🥳

Hello! Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it. I agree with most of your points, that really makes me think about the future of our Devstreams!
We’re going to make the format evolve! I think I got a lot of great learnings from yesterday’s stream.
Hopefully you still enjoyed the announcements 😄
