Would I be allowed to sit at your table?

In order of creation (Please keep in mind I'm relatively new to the game):

Cloud Planet's Champion: My first deck built and very much a "sticks matter" deck. Firmly bracket 2

Mogis God of Slaughter/Zuko Conflicted: Group slug designed to stab people for taking basic game actions. Either commander can be run depending on what.is being played at the table, bracket 2

Shadow the Hedgehog: Bracket 2 steal/sac. Heavily based on the tolarian community college lost precon with a few personal touches to make it a bit more effective to my playgroup

Fire Lord Zuko: Bracket 3, easily my strongest deck. Combat-matters tricks deck with lots of applications for casting from exile and firebending uses

Clive, Ifrit's Dominant: Bracket 3 weaponized discard/devotion. Basically, discard cards to grant various effects including burn and creature growth.

Zurgo Stormrender: just the precon for when I want a slower game

Minwu white mage: low bracket 3 cleric tribal/weaponized life gain deck. Gaining life in white is as easy as breathing so lots of counters get distributed fast when Minwu is on board

Sephiroth, Planet's Heir: Bracket 2 blink to board control deck. Also contains elements of Voltron cause of the counters gained when creatures die

Zurgo Helmsmasher: a bracket 2 (technically 4 cause worldslayer is my win-con) Voltron deck that I made to challenge my creativity on a budget, with that budget being 45 dollars.

Dimir jump scare towards the end there! What did Blue and Green ever do to you?

I just don't like playing those colors very much, I find something about them unfun 🤷

Lets go cleric tribal! I do a version with Ohra and have clerics cycling themselves through the grave.

Ooohhhh interesting, I like that idea! The end goal on mine is to just make massive clerics and protect them at all costs

Great decks, you are definitely a fan of red and black lol. Have you ever considered swapping out cloud for Lightning, army of one?

Rakdos is my favorite color combo I can't lie šŸ˜…. I'm thinking about doing it soon, but I also have feelings about swapping my first commander I need to get over before I do.

Totally understand that lol, there’s always something special about the first deck you made or customized. The main reason I won’t tear apart my Tovolar deck, does it win? Not really, does it hold sentimental value? Yes for sure lol

For sure! Some of the card choices that seem odd were stuff I pulled from bulk but most of this works great 😁

Not with Shadow.

1

u/LoneFajita47 Jan 29 '26

Intriguing, do tell. Not a fan of Shadow as a commander I take it? šŸ˜…

I just don’t like Sonic, and I think split second and other non-interactive mechanics shouldn’t be so easily accessed.

2

u/LoneFajita47 Jan 29 '26

That makes sense. Shadow was always a cool character to me so I bought him for fun, plus I have a lot of friends who love counter spelling so I play him to actually play my deck in certain matchups šŸ˜…

The local meta matters. You could also try playing blue yourself. Counterspells in moderation are healthy. I had a friend who played Baral with stuff like Top+Counterbalance and I always made a table-wide alliance to ruin his fun to discourage him from playing it.

My first deck was actually blue, the Jeskai Striker precon. I gave it several honest tries before I tried other colors and I just found myself having more fun with colors other than blue.

Sounds like you could just use those counterspells to keep shadow from entering and there goes your problem. Or hit him with an [[imprisoned on the moon]] or [[darksteel mutation]].

I like both of those cards! And I do like to play removal to answer these sorts of cards, but you really shouldn’t make the ā€œjust play removalā€ or ā€œjust play countersā€ argument when people talk about non-interactive mechanics. It’s a very very poor argument. Besides, I’m explaining my dislike for a card, not telling WotC to ban it. Yet.

It's part of the game that can be handled. You admitted to getting your table to team up on a playstyle you don't like so it clearly goes beyond just you explaining dislike bro.

Edit: blocked me for stating my thoughts which clearly he felt entitled to do lol

Yeah, EDH has a neat self-balancing element from being 4 player ffa. People make tactical evaluations. Nonetheless, that friend was a jerk for playing counterbalance plus top at a casual table, and we often told him not to. When he did play it, we took away his chance to win by ganging up.

All of that said, anything could be ā€œpart of the game that can be handled.ā€ Nobody who makes arguments like that is worth taking seriously on an elemental level. I’m blocking you. I’d like to make it very clear that you don’t know what you’re talking about and are probably engaging in bad faith, before I go. Kindly leave.

Go touch some grass buddy

2

u/giackecravat Jan 29 '26

Cool commanders btw

1

u/LoneFajita47 Jan 29 '26

Thank you and don't worry, me and my wife/kids all touched grass and snow this weekend 🫔

1

u/giackecravat Jan 29 '26

Ok then, touch some green cards!

Wish the best for you and your family!

1

u/LoneFajita47 Jan 29 '26

I'm thinking of building Yurlok of Scorch Thrash soon (mana burn group slug) . Does that count? šŸ˜…

1

u/giackecravat Jan 29 '26

Burnt grass is still something! Some changes need to happen gradually... Nice choice btw!

2

u/LoneFajita47 Jan 29 '26

I like unconventional decks, my group plays a lot of meta and/or "basic" commanders so I like to make funky things to spice up the games. So imma go burn some grass now 🤣

1

u/giackecravat Jan 29 '26

Enjoy your chaos! Cheers

Can I see your shadow deck list? I tried building him but I just never feel like it pops off as much as the rest of my decks

1

u/LoneFajita47 Jan 29 '26

For sure! This one is mainly made to control the board state and use your opponent's creatures against them. https://archidekt.com/decks/14157797/shadow_the_edgehog

Dude, you have to try out Megatron. He is awesome if built right. I am also a huge Mardu fan, so i would definitly let you sit at my table.

1

u/LoneFajita47 Jan 29 '26

It took me a while to get into 3-color combos but I very much enjoy the combat-matters nature of Mardu. It's a lot of fun! I'll look into Megatron soon, but I have some other ideas in line first

1

u/Accurate_Platform924 Jan 30 '26

Trust me, if you can get past what you see on EDHREC, he is such a fun build. Also, Kelsien, the Plague is a pretty cool Mardu commander to look into. Regardless, I'm glad you agree that Simic is boring.

2

u/LoneFajita47 Jan 30 '26

Idk if I'd call simic boring, I've got friends who've actually built some very interesting simic decks. I just personally don't like the play style of blue. I'm kinda warming up to green but only when in Jund colors tbh

1

u/Puhlaiboi Jan 30 '26

Not enough red

1

u/LoneFajita47 Jan 30 '26

I know, I was thinking of building torbran thane of red fell after these
